I made the switch back to AMD this time around after rocking a GTX 970 for many years (and boy did that thing last, I must admit). I'm liking the AMD software now. They've made improvements since my last AMD card (which was back in the early 2000s). So... the card: It's quite nice. I like the little bit of LED color on it. The card's on the big side, barely making it into my ATX case, and it definitely butts up against the neighboring slot making it useless, but that's fine. I guess I didn't need to add USB C to my motherboard after all. The card runs cool, even when I'm pushing it. I don't overclock (I'm not an FPS-obsessed twitch gamer) and I'm quite pleased with the quality of graphics and frames I'm getting on games like The Witcher III and GTA V. Older games run great. Skyrim, Fallout 4, all the Batman games-- All deliver well over 60fps on Ultra as long as I turn VSync off (which is fine since AMD has their own version). This is also a really quiet card. It never gets much louder than my case fans. I can't hear it over the sound of my refrigerator running in the next room (OK, yeah, my fridge is old but it's not THAT loud). All in all, this was a worthwhile jump up. No, it's not the newest thing out there as of November 2020, but it's a darn good GPU that should take me on into the next few years without trouble.
