Astro Tools 1895 Onyx 1/2" "Thor G2 Impact Wrench, Large, Black The Astro Tools 1895 ONYX 1/2" "THOR" Impact Wrench is the 2nd generation THOR designed to be the highest performing 1/2" impact wrench on the market. This impact wrench maintains a short length like the original Astro THOR impact wrench but with several improvements. This tool is rated 1,020 ft-lbs traditional Max Torque (compared to 1650 nut-busting), which is thanks to a larger motor and greatly increased air passageways in the handle and trigger. The new linear trigger included in this design allows for more throttle adjustment and feathering compared to the previous 2-stage trigger. The textured handle in this new design is slightly widened with the top hump flattened for a more comfortable grip, and roll-pin hole removed for less air leak opportunities. In addition, this tool includes a power adjustment wheel and improved FWD/REV rocking lever. This is for use with 3/8" or 1/4" NPT HI-FLO fittings (adapter for 1/4" included), 6.8 CFM continuous use. I have beat the hell out of this thing using it on 3/4 line to take lugnuts off semi trailers I rarely find anything that this won’t do that my IR 3/4 will the only complaint I have is I don’t like the trigger and the forward reverse selector they feel extremely cheap compared to the rest of the impact. But for the money you can’t beat this impact. It will take a hell of a beating I’ve ran water through it several times due to my shops bad water separation system and I don’t mean just a drop I mean literally blowing water out of the exhaust. I’ve ran this thing next to brand new Matco guns on 3/8s line and it walks them all day. The only other tiny complaint I have is that there is no hole to access the grease zert on the boot you either have to take it off everytime or cut it which is what I did. I love this gun I would buy 5 more in a heart beat ... show more

Great gun although I have been using it mostly for tires. A goon gun the only issue I had was the selector switch where I had to loosen the bolt to switch from forward to reverse.

Gun is just ok. I have been using this for a few months and did not like it. The trigger is just awful. Feels fragile, sticks and almost hurts your finger. The power is all the time. It's very hard to ease the trigger to start lug nuts. At full power on lugnut, it's hard to hold on as it jumps all over the place. I needed a really powerful impact to take some nuts loose on the suspension of my truck. I actually tried 3 other brands of impacts before this one. Holy crap!! This thing's a monster! Hold it tight to save your wrist! This is the strongest 1/2" impact I've used yet. After buying this, I ran across a website comparing a number of big name impacts, most with higher price tags than the Thor G2. The Thor G2 outperformed all but one very famous brand, with which it tied. The tests were all conducted with a calibrated torque meter. I'm sold. I went through 3 Gen 1 versions of this impact in 2 years. This Gen 2 has lasted for 2 years without any issues so far. I keep it on setting 2 and find that to be perfectly fine for everything I do around the shop. Setting 3 has some serious beans. This gun delivers some serious torque. Lasted a year and 6 month, let me say first I love Astro Tools, have had great success with there other tools and will continue to buy Astro tools. That being said this is by far the WORST impact wrench i have ever used, incredibly under powered, the forward to revers switch got so it couldn't be moved by hand after 6 months, i disassembled the gun found no issues with the internal workings, put a little grease on the switch internals but it never got better. spent the nest year having to hit it with a hammer to change direction. the trigger is not variable you either get off or full speed. the speed gauge at the bottom of the handle is nice but could use some work, it can easily be move is something brushes up against it. its a good price and probably would be good if your not using it every day, nut if your a tech look for something else, your going to get what you paid for with this impact ... show more
