Wow, I was in a jam, but this Astro 1/4" heavy duty riveting tool fortunately got me out of it. I mean, I was trying to find some way of securing the three mounting legs of this attic vent fan onto the thin aluminum housing. Well, sheet metal screws were certainly not the answer as they would typically strip out due to the thin aluminum housing. In addition, there was no option of using bolts, lock washers and nuts either as there was no quick and easy way of gaining access from behind the housing. This was where the Astro 1/4" heavy duty riveting tool came into play as the three holes in the housing were slightly larger than 1/4" in diameter. Well, because I was dealing with an obviously confined space, the relatively short handles of the Astro 1/4" heavy duty riveting tool made this job workable. Yes, I was able to securely fasten each of the three legs of the attic vent fan onto the thin aluminum housing using nothing but 1/4" X 3/8" steel rivets (which I also purchased from Amazon). You know, that Astro 1/4" heavy duty riveting tool had surely paid for itself that day! Oh yes, that is undoubtedly a well constructed and quality 1/4" riveter by the way, and something that I will cherish for years to come. If you're looking for an exceptionally good 1/4" riveting tool at a very affordable price, I would highly recommend this one! ... show more

Astro Pneumatic is a high quality affordable rivet tool that will get the job done. Needed a 1/4” tool to set rivets for a power window regulator repair. Takers 5-6 pumps to pop the stainless steel rivets that I used. This tool did a great job. The only issue was that the nose was not long enough to set a rivet where the window glass connects to the regulator. Used a bolt for that. Would recommend this tool for quality, price, vale and easy to use. ... show more

    • Best rivet gun I've ever used, great for stainless rivets

I bought this tool in 2015 and have used it frequently. Thousands of rivets punched with it. Every other rivet gun has cheap steel jaws that wear out when used with stainless rivets, including the $700 "POP" air gun. This one has never once had a problem and has all original parts. Only downside is that it's huge, so you'll need a smaller one for that. ... show more

I needed to use some 1/4" stainless pop rivets for a sailboat application. I tried some "drill attachment" pop rivet tools, as I thought they would be easier. All the ones I tried were "rated" for 1/4"/6.4mm stainless steel. One failed to break the "pull shaft" and left the expanded rivet with the shaft sticking out. The other was barely able to break the "pull shaft", but left the shaft stuck in the tool. I sent both back. This tool worked very well, especially when you only opened the handles about half way so that you could more easily apply pressure. Small size makes it great for my 'on-board tool box. Very easy to use. Comes with instructions, some parts of which i didn’t understand. However, this does the job for setting 3/16 stainless rivets. ALuminum and steel rivets weren’t too hard with the old single handle guns, but the larger stainless rivets really benefit from this awesome and strong device. It was a fair price. I’m happy with it. I didn’t see much for instruction in the box. I figured stick the rivet in, apply the tool and boom you’re done. Well, turns out I needed to adjust the mandrel to get a better byte on the neck of the rivet. After that the tool made short work of the job. The media could not be loaded. Buy It if you need pop Steel Rivets 6.3mm (1/4”) diameter for window regulator. Short handle heavy duty riveter head with great leverage and easy to use. We never had issues popping any rivets using 1423 Riveter. This is almost as good as air power Riveter gun. Collection bottle can also be use to store small Rivet wench. 4 additional nose-pieces are stored and securely screwed onto the handle (1/8-Inch, 5/32-Inch, 3/16-Inch, 1/5-Inch, and 1/4-Inch). ... show more
