Wanted to use this meter to see how my cat's glucose and ketones are looking. However, a lithium battery (included) must be installed. The battery compartment door will not open. No one in my household could open it. Without the battery, the device is of course not usable and will be returned.

Purchased and the battery wouldn't stay in, so we returned and got another one. Sadly it has the same issue. The battery won't stay in and if held manually it showed an error message. The company didn't hesitate to exchange/take back and refund our money.

What a piece of crap! I had to return the first meter because the battery wouldn't stay in the meter. I returned it and got a replacement. Same problem. I made cardboard circles to put over the battery to make it stay in place. Meter wouldn't show results.

Two things prevent you from making this meter work out of the box: 1. The battery compartment is so poorly designed that it fails to provide any compression on the battery to make it touch the positive terminal. We had to cut out rounds of cardboard to stack inside in order to get it to turn on. 2. The startup instructions make no mention of the programming key (though it is mentioned much later in the manual). If you get the unmentioned error code "E-C" it is because you haven't yet installed the programming key in the side of the unit. After these two fixes, the unit seems to perform admirably. But with such shoddy design work I question the accuracy of the ketone readings themselves.

Product arrived fast and nicely packed. However it does not turn on. I placed the brand new battery and it gives an error message and turns itself off. My cat is sick, so I was hoping to start using it right away and now I have to deal with the hassle of sending it back and buying a different one.

I ordered this AssuTest blood glucose and blood ketone test meter for pets for my cat. The meter is easy to use and it came with everything needed to get started, including the battery, test strips, instructions, diary, and a case. The test strips are in two different bottles, one for blood sugar and one for ketones. The results seem on par with the vet.

This at home pet testing kit arrived quickly and well packaged. The kit comes with everything you need to be able to start testing and tracking your fur baby’s glucose and ketone levels. It comes with the handheld monitor, 25 pack glucose test strips, 25 pack ketone test strips, lancet device, battery, carry case, and a record book to document your pet’s numbers. The device is straight forward and easy to use, and the directions are on the side of the box. It is quick to provide you the results and you can read them clearly on the monitor. I can’t say whether or not they are 100% accurate as I don’t have another device to compare it to, however I do feel that the readings are within the range of what I had expected. The price point for the set is affordable. Overall, this is a useful tool to have on hand if your pet’s blood glucose and ketone levels need to be monitored. Would recommend.
