  • Cute Salmon Guitar with a little buzz/ring
Color: Pink
Full and honest review: This guitar is super cute. I love the color and the maker even went to the effort of making these strings a pink color as well. It was a nice touch, and you can tell that the guitar was designed with care. I've purchased quite a few discount guitars over the past few years, I will say this particular guitar had the most buzz/ring to it. It. Usually when people complain about discount guitars, they complain about a buzz/ring that comes out when you strum it. Oftentimes I cannot hear that, but I could on this guitar. With that being said, I still play it all the time and I even like the ring a little bit for some of the things I play. I also would like to add that this is a little bit harder for me to play. It hurts my fingers more than some of my other guitars, but I don't think that is due to the fact that it is "cheaply made". My $400 guitar is just as hard to play. I also wanted to note that this is in fact a salmon color. The pearl circular thing in the middle is also stunning. Every time I get a new guitar it will not hold a tuning as well as my older guitars and this one was no exception. So the first few times I played it, I had to do some serious retuning. I love the guitar and I might order another one. As much as I love this, I will say, that - if you don't care about the looks of your guitar - there are other discount guitars for only maybe $20 more on Amazon that are generally better quality, but don't have the electronics. I want to give this a 5 star review because someone clearly went to the effort of trying to make an affordable acoustic electric so that average people can afford a decent quality experience, and I'm here for it. Heck, I've been searching high and low for a pink guitar for the past year that would actually some decent at an open mic and I finally have it. Thank you, Ashthorpe. ... show more

  • Perfect Guitar for My Son’s 15th Birthday – Amazing Sound & Quality
Color: Black
I purchased the Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Package in black for my son’s 15th birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with this choice! From the moment he unboxed it, we were both impressed by the sleek, stylish design and premium feel of the guitar. The black finish gives it a modern, professional look that stands out beautifully. Sound Quality: This guitar delivers rich, warm tones both acoustically and when plugged in. The premium tonewoods truly enhance the sound, making it comparable to much more expensive guitars. The cutaway design also allows for easy access to the higher frets, which my son really appreciates. Playability: The thinline body makes it comfortable to hold and play, even for extended practice sessions. The action was set up nicely right out of the box, and the included accessories made it easy for him to get started right away. Value for Money: This package includes everything needed to start playing immediately, which is a huge bonus. The quality of the guitar far exceeds expectations for the price, making it a fantastic option for both beginners and intermediate players. Overall, this was the perfect gift for my son, and he hasn’t stopped playing it since! If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-quality acoustic-electric guitar, I highly recommend this one. Five stars all the way! ... show more

  • Its Fine For The Price
Color: Mint Green
I just got mine, the green one. Great color-though it did have dried polish everywhere that washed right off, plus one small ding. No sharp frets edges. Fretboard was very dry. Action was a little high for my liking, but very playable. The neck seemed a little short . Seemed like the strings did not like tightening to tune, but once tuned the sound was accually pretty good. sounded best through my Fender lt40s Guitar is very light. I used some credit I had so I paid under $100. It sounds better than it should for that price. ... show more

  • Great for a beginner
Color: Brown
I have been a musician for most of my life, but mostly wind instruments. I have been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years. I have an Ibanez acoustic that I have tried to learn on multiple times over the years, and while it is a pretty good guitar it is difficult to learn on. The action and string tension are both high, and the neck is pretty thick. I am over 50 years old, and it is going to take a while before I have the dexterity, and finger strength to really play that guitar well. I also have an electric guitar which is much easier to play due to the action, and neck thickness. So, I thought I would try to find an acoustic with similar features to the electric. I watch a few review videos about this guitar which were very good reviews. I saw one bad review that was around the action not being set as well as the reviewer would have liked, but that is definitely a topic for a much more advanced player than me. I also read the reviews here on Amazon where the saddle got pulled off, or the head stock breaking. This worried me some, but the good outweighed the bad so I thought I would give this guitar a try, and I am glad I did. To avoid the saddle / head stalk issues I tuned the guitar very slowly to prevent putting any unnecessary tension on the guitar. I didn't run into those issues. I have had this guitar for about 3 weeks now and there is no sign of breakage. I have been "hitting" the strings pretty hard as well. The neck is a little thinner, and the action is set great for a beginner. The B and high E strings (bottom two) may need a little adjustment on the action. I get a little more fret buzz on those two strings, but again I am a beginner, so I probably just need to "practice, practice, practice". There are some reviews out there that talk about the frets needing a little maintenance as they are a tiny bit wider than the finger board. I can feel this, so it is true. Right now, it isn't an issue for me, and if it becomes an issue then it is a pretty simple fix to sand them down For a thin line guitar, the sound is still pretty full. A full body "dreadnought" style guitar is obviously going to sound better, but this guitar is much easier to play and learn on. I can't really speak to the electronics on this guitar yet. I really haven't used them, and don't know enough about them to give a good opinion. I don't want to steer anyone in the wrong direction by guessing. The one downside I have had so far is that the high E string broke while I was doing the initial tunning. Like I said, I tuned it really slowly. Tightened the strings some, let it sit for a while so the string could stretch, then rinse and repeat. The high E was probably still 2 or 3 steps too low, so nowhere near to where it should be, and it popped. The guitar came with an extra set of strings, so I just put a new one on. But it would have been nice to not have to replace a string before I even got a chance to play it :-) Bottom line, IMO, this is a fantastic guitar for a beginner, and for $100 it is a great deal. ... show more

  • Well worth it
Color: Brown
I'm an experienced guitarist with over 30 years of experience playing live and in the studio but took the last 6 years off and sold everything about 2 years ago. When I decided to start back up in Nov '24 and do some recording, I thought I'd start off with some inexpensive guitars and put some time into setting them up (setting the action, intonation, dressing the frets, etc). I picked up this guitar because the reviews seemed pretty good and honestly, the build quality of guitars these days are pretty good for the money so I wasn't too concerned. Out of the box this guitar needed minimal work to sound good unplugged. Just a little lemon juice on the fretboard and a new set of strings and minor filing/sanding to round out a few frets but otherwise this guitar was in excellent, playable condition. Plugged in, it's a bit lacking and sounds like a guitar that cost a few hundred, nothing great. I'm recording tracks using Logic Pro and Eventide Ultra Channel and Ultraverb to polish the sound but it still sounded a bit generic and sterile. I found a free IR loader plugin from STl Tones and a free Acoustic Guitar IR from Worshiptutorials for a Taylor 414Ce, 816 and Martin D-35 and now it's unbelievable. The IR Loader is stereo so I have one side to sound like a Taylor 816 and the other as a Martin D-35 and it's heaven with the reverb from Eventide. I plan to just use this guitar for recording and with the IR and other plugins, I'm very happy with the results, essentially getting a $3-4000 guitar sound from a $100 guitar. Does it feel like a Martin or Taylor? No, but if you're a good player who can do some minor guitar set up work, you can make this into a very easy to play guitar and with the plugins, you're 95% of the way there sound wise for 2-3% of the price. Does it look like a nice Martin/Taylor, no but I'm not interested in spending an extra $1000 for inlays, binding or a name on the headstock that doesn't affect the sound. From my experience over the years and having owned many of the top off the shelf and custom guitars and amps, gear and technology has improved dramatically just in the last 10 years and you can now get great equipment at a very low cost but the major manufacturers (and Artists) just wants everyone to think they need to spend $$$ to sound like the pros. A lot of that is "in" your hands but on the gear side, if you're creative, you can get a professional sound with beginner/intermediate gear. Don't get caught up with G.A.S., save your money, practice more and get creative and you'll be a better player, engineer and musician vs. being a high gear collector. ... show more

  • Solid Starter Set 🎸💼
Color: Black
I have tried this Fender Classic Design acoustic guitar out a few times. It appears to be made of high quality materials and the value is good. The solid spruce top is supposedly paired with scalloped X-bracing to enhance resonance, though you would need to saw it open to verify the bracing. This guitar works great. The dreadnought body has a full tone, and the mahogany back and sides add a nice warmth. It features an easy-play neck with rolled fingerboard edges that feel comfortable for long sessions. The bundle includes a gig bag, tuner, strap, extra strings, string winder, picks, and an instructional DVD. Since it comes with a string winder, you have no excuse for leaving that one dead string on for six months 🛠️ My advice is to use the included tuner every time you pick it up because new strings take a minute to stretch and settle. It is a complete package that actually sounds like a real instrument rather than a toy 🎵🔥 ... show more

  • Awesome for a beginner!
Color: Black
I'll preface this by saying I am no expert in guitars or what aspects of construction determine quality. I am merely a dude who decided to pick up a guitar and learn the play while stuck at home. With not much but a price point I had no idea where to start, and like any normal Amazon patron, I went to the reviews. After searching high and low, I finally came up with two guitars that fit my price range, and seemed to be well liked overall. My options were the slightly more sleek, and well known, Ibanez Talman, and this uknown, inexpensive Thinline Ashthorpe guitar with great reviews on Amazon. After a bit more research, I did what any sensible person would do. I bought both. Fast forward a week or two later, my guitar gets stolen from the mail room of my building. Some documents and a few emails later, the sellers promptly sent a replacement, this time with Signature Required! Thank you for that! After receiving the guitar, my initial thoughts were of the quality. You can clearly tell this isn't the picture of high level craftsmanship. There's what appeared to be finger smudge marks on the body, and the lining on the guitar was a bit rough. Overall it looks slightly cheaper then the Talman, which is to be expected. Looks aside, this thing is great! In fact, after 2 months or so, I can tell you I have played this guitar 90% more then the Talman. The sound is great, and most importantly, it feels great to play! As a complete beginner, I am clearly not an expert at set up. Out of the box, once I got it tuned up, it played great and felt comfortable. The Talman, despite being more expensive and from a well known brand was not nearly as comfortable. The sound is great, but the action out of box was much worse than this lesser known Ashthorpe, which made playing uncomfortable, and the thought of learning much less exciting. All in all, I cant speak for the experienced guitarist, but I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking to get into acoustic style guitar, without the larger body, at an amazing price point. Thanks for making my learning experience a pleasant one Ashthorpe! A+ guitar, and A+ seller ... show more

  • It's a good value if you are handy of know someone who is handy.
Color: Black
I'm learning how to setup guitars, and this purchase was to practice that skill. This guitar had lots of problems, but it was a good deal for the money. The bridge pins was so jammed in, they were extremely difficult to remove. But you would only run into this when you change the strings. They are also extermely poor quality. I tried to file them so they would grab the string ball better. I also had to ream out all six holes so they fit with each string. There were about 10 frets that needed to be pressed into the neck, they caused string buzz. And the fret ends were exremely sharp, and needed to be filed smoothe. The gig bag barely fits the guitar, you need to really work to get the guitar in and out of that gig bag. Otherwiise, the electronics worked fine, and I've got mine setup and playing well. ... show more
