I've been wanting cute ankle rain boots to wear in the yard for a while. I've had higher calf versions from places like Payless and Target before but the smallest they ever had was a size 6 and it was just too big and clunky and uncomfortable to walk around I'm normally a size 5 to 5 1/2 shoe and I wear child socks in size Medium. The size 5 boot fits me like a dream. They're also fairly cute as rain boots go. I'd definitely wear these out on a rainy day. They're not too hard to get on, although I do have to use my hands/fingers a little bit--I can't just slip them on. They also have decent arch support. I bought these boots in a half-size larger than my normal 8 after reading the reviews. I don’t think I would ever have need to wear really thick socks here in the south, so my regular size would have been a better fit. Although the extra half-size also would’ve allowed me to put an arch support inside, which would have been needed if I had kept them. The inside pad offers no support or arch at all. I ended up returning them after four or five trials in the house. The pink sole does provide a nice pop of color for everyone else to see, but looking down at my own feet all I got was bored. Coupled with the need to invest further in an arch support, I decided to return and pick something else. That’s just personal pickiness tho. The day I ordered these it had been raining for 24 hours straight. The back yard was saturated and the mud in the dirt driveway were enough for me to realize I cannot step foot outside unless I have rain boots! I normally order a size 9 in closed toed shoes but last time I ordered similar they were too small so I ordered a 9 1/2 for these. I'll wear thicker socks and will probably use my own shoe inserts bc I have some arthritis in my feet so I'd suggest order your normal size in a closed toe shoe as I believe these are true to size. I feel some relief knowing the next time (Spring) the torrential rains come I'll be protected--no point in ruining my sneakers now, these boots will clean up very easily. I waited to write this review until it rains because honestly what better time to put the product to the test! Where I work the parking lot flats, and before the shoes, my socks would get wet because there was no way to avoid the ginormous puddle in the middle of the parking lot But I wore the shoes today when it was pouring rain outside and the parking lot was again flooded and let me tell you I have the driest feet in southern California right now ! I got these last minute when the forecast was a full day of rain for our Disneyland trip. I can’t believe how comfortable these were! I brought extra shoes with me just in case my feet started to hurt, but I never even changed out of them. They didn’t hurt my feet at all even after standing/walking the entire day. They kept my feet dry even walking through some deep puddles. I did wear double socks; one pair of thick wool socks, which helped. The only downside for me was they were a little snug around the ankles, but were stretchy enough to only be slightly uncomfortable, very minor! Very happy with these boots! ... show more

    • Good rain boot that needs a little breaking in

I've worn these boots in pouring rain 3 times in 1 month (mid December 2022 to mid January 2023); they've kept my feet and socks dry each time. The look is stylish and the fit is as expected, but I recommend buying a half size up if you wear socks that are thicker than summer socks or tennis socks (eg, hiking socks, wool socks). Also, getting the boots on is a little bit hard, so you'll likely need to use the the pull-tab on the back (I find it very useful). The boots are relatively comfortable but probably need more breaking in to be truly easy to wear. The main area where the boots seem tight is right over the top of the foot where the toes bend when you push off the ground. I think once I've worn these some more and that area of the boot is able to crease more easily/loosens up it will be fine. Overall, I like these boots a lot. Addendum (1/20/23): I forgot to add that these boots are non-slippery on wet smooth concrete and metal surfaces too. I haven't had to walk across smooth indoor surfaces with wet boots yet, but I feel confident that it would be no problem. ... show more

Decent black boot, but for extended wear you may need to add foot support inserts. It does take a little bit of tugging to get the boots on. Make sure you use the tab on the back of the ankle area to help you pull the boots on. Once I got my feet in, it was a perfect fit in terms of sizing.
