  • Nice Product
This thing is nifty and allows me to use an old amp for music in the garage. I connect it to RCA inputs and use the amp to drive speakers, can't say how well it performs if you use it by itself to drive speakers, but if that functionality is as good as the rest, wow. Shows up in available network devices in spotify, which is the service I use most often, but can switch to bluetooth connection if I need to play from phone directly. Not really a complaint, but if this thing could integrate with sonos, game changer. ... show more

  • Great for a DIY Boombox
I have this amp installed in a DIY boombox based on Paul Carmody's Sprite design. I currently have a 12v 3Ah SLA battery powering the amp but plan to soon upgrade the battery to a power bank with USB-C PD. Since the amp can handle a wide range of input voltage you can easily power this from any USB-C PD power bank by using a "USB-C PD Sink/decoy/trigger" adapter which turns the USB-C connection into a DC connection. I plan to power it using USB-C PD 20v. I love the fact that the amp has Spotify built in and can be used as a Spotify Connect speaker - this should prove to be the most power-efficient way to stream music via WiFi. That being said it also works well via Airplay. I haven't tested DLNA much since I don't really use it but I did confirm it at least works. Of course there is always Bluetooth as well. Couple of really cool features: --It lets you customize the Bluetooth name and WiFi SSID. This is such a cool feature that I haven't seen anywhere else. --If you are using it somewhere without wifi but still want to take advantage of wifi streaming you can use your phone as a hotspot and connect to the amp to it and then use Spotify connect. You can also connect your phone directly to the amp's built in wifi hotspot (of course if you do this then you won't have internet connectivity, but if you already have music saved to your phone that's not a big deal). --Accessories - they make a bunch of cool accessories you can use to expand functionality. 1) a button board so you can mount external control buttons for Play/Pause/Prev/Next/Vol-/Vol+/Mode. The button board also has an IR receiver built-in which could be handy in case you've mounted the amp somewhere out of sight. You can also connect an external IR receiver to this button board so you can control it with a remote even if you've mounted the amp & the button board out of line-of-sight. 2) A higher quality DAC board you can connect (the built-in one is already good enough for me); 3) a SPDIF input board; 4) a SPDIF output board; 5) a volume knob board; 6) Bluetooth and Wifi external antennas which you can use if you want better range (I have the amp mounted inside the boombox without the external antennas right now and range is fine for Wifi but Bluetooth could be a little better so I plan to mount the external antennas soon). Only 2 complaints so far - 1) sometimes when you leave it in Bluetooth mode and there's no connection for a while it seems to switch itself to WiFi mode. Then you have to use the 4Stream app or the IR remote to change it back to Bluetooth mode which is a pain. 2) I also have the previous version of this amp and wanted to connect Bluetooth external antenna, when I tried to unplug the stock antenna the jack broke off the board - Up2Stream sent a replacement board so no big deal but just be very careful if you try to unplug the bluetooth or wifi antennas for any reason. ... show more

  • Fantastic Amplifier Board
The media could not be loaded. I have been playing with Bluetooth only boards for a while building speakers, but I use Airplay throughout my home and Spotify as my main music provider. The Arylic audio up2stream amp is a little more expensive than bluetooth only boards but seemed to be packed with a lot of wifi based features, so I took a gamble and purchased the Arylic audio board to see how it performs. To be honest, I am delighted. All the components on the board are good quality, I had a couple of questions before hand to the Arylic customer service team relating to the power supply and they were quick to respond and very helpful. I set mine up with a lithium ion battery set up, created a 24v battery bank and now the unit works both on mains power and on battery. For info, the volume with the battery is just as loud as with their 24v power adapter! A point to note here is that if you are going to use a battery bank, then you will need an external switch to turn the power on and off to the board otherwise it will just drain the battery! The 4stream app works well, and gives functionality to run multiple amps for a multi room set up. I use a multi room software from Rogue Amoeba called Satellite that allows me to create a multi room set up with all airplay devices and the Arylic audio integrated into this network as soon as it was connected to the network. It is automatically detected by any airplay enabled device. It has other features for Android users, but I don't have any Android devices so cant comment on that! Sound quality and volume is very impressive. I am not one of these crazy high end audiophiles with $10,000 speakers but I appreciate good sound quality, and this amp doesn't disappoint. Even from the little boombox I built (see video) the sound is clear, crisp and has minimal distortion at volume. This really is a great little amp and if you are looking for a simple multi room, or wifi enabled amp, this is really a good unit. They have just released a new version with 2.1 so you can add a subwoofer. It's a little more expensive, but I think it will be next on my list! ... show more
