The Bottom Line: This artificial grass looks incredibly realistic and is a budget-friendly way to create a "desk garden," but be prepared for some minor shedding from the backing during setup. Aesthetic & Realism I bought this artificial grass to create a little garden sanctuary on top of my work desk, and I’m really impressed with the look! It’s surprisingly realistic and doesn't have that "fake plastic shine" that some cheaper brands have. It adds a great pop of green to my workspace. Value for Projects The amount of grass you get for the price is excellent. I have plenty left over after covering my desk, so I’ll be able to use the remnants for a few other small craft projects around the house. It’s easy to cut to the size you need. The "Shedding" Factor The only downside I’ve found is the backing. It seems the grass is attached to a black base that sheds a fine, black plastic dust. The Mess: Every once in a while, I have to wipe down my desk to get rid of the tiny black specks and fine plastic pieces that fall off the underside. The Good News: Interestingly, it’s just the backing shedding—the actual green grass blades stay firmly in place and don’t look sparse at all despite the dust. Pros: Very Realistic: High-quality appearance for the price. Great Value: Large enough for multiple DIY projects. Versatile: Easy to cut and shape for indoor decor. Cons: Backing Sheds: Leaves behind a fine black "plastic dust" that requires regular wiping. Messy Installation: You’ll definitely want to shake it out outdoors before bringing it to your desk!

Not very tuff base

Got this to put under my laying hens for added softness to keep eggs from accidentally breaking. But it only takes a few weeks before it has huge holes in it from their scratching. Realize it’s not how it’s advertised, but still, very flimsy.

OK if you don't want realism ...

This will work for my intended purpose, but I'm disappointed that it in no way looks like natural grass… It's bright green, all one color, and sparkles in the sunlight. Very fake looking… I need it just a little more for my project. I had to buy a little bit additional, and bought a small amount from another company which is actually much better. With a subtle mix of dark and light, and it doesn't sparkle cheap plastic look in the sun!
