  • LOVE IT BUT. . .
Color: 96 Colors with case
The media could not be loaded. I'm a beginner when it comes to drawing and painting but what I can say is based on my experience and from the little knowledge I have as I use different art materials. This product has very vibrant color and VERY fine tip which is good for detailing although you have to be very careful. As small as the tips are, it dispenses a very concentrated amount of color. If you're heavy handed its best to dip the tip in water to decrease concentration of the color and let excess water from the dip and test it on a scrap paper to check desired color consistency. Wouldn't advice for painting a large drawing as it appears streaky since the tips are so small it would be hard to distribute colors evenly. Gives my watercolor painting extra depth. I love it and I won't hesitate to buy again but I had it for a while and they are still good as new. Will definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Beautiful Pens, But...
Color: 96 Colors with case
I purchased the 96 count of Arteza watercolor pens with the additional canvas carrying case. The pens are beautiful, and they work quite well if you know how to use them properly. However, instead of getting 96 pens of 96 different colors, I instead received 95 pens and 94 colors. My case was missing pen A173, the Ice Blue color, and instead of getting pen A182, Wine Red, I received two A118s, the Autumn Red color. My A183 is also leaking slightly, and there were a few brush bristles that were coming out of the sides of the plastic nib on a few other brushes. Overall, these are mostly small problems. I'm a little disappointed in the overall quality, but the pens do seem to work very well and I'm looking forward to practicing with them more. ... show more

  • Really wanted to love these
Color: 96 Colors with case
I ordered these Arteza real brush pens with the case after seeing them on Amazon with great reviews. From my initial unboxing and after using the brushes on paper samples (I used various manufacturers papers, from mixed media to water color specific - in various weights) I went from initial excitement to disappointment within a few days. The brushes arrived on time and the package was undamaged. The case came zipped and was wrapped with a item description (96 brushes, case and water brush). The case was very nicely made and that alone made a good impression. I opened the case which was was filled with 96 brush pens neatly arranged and secured within the elastic slots. There was also additional slots and one had a water brush. The outside of the case has a zippered compartment and a detachable shoulder strap. Based on those things I would give five stars. While browsing at pens still in their slots I noticed what looked like liquid on a few of the brushes at the end where the colored cap is sealed. I touched the liquid and immediately noticed my fingers were red colored. I took the brush out of the slot and noticed the cap was loose and not on properly. I shoved the cap back in the barrel but it did not stay firm and secure like the others were. I am concerned that would be a problem, who knows how much ink was lost since the case is black. I have not noticed any other obvious initial leaking with brushes I’ve tried so far. I did notice a few brushes were on the drier side, not sure why since those showed no signs of leakage. The brush tips were mostly in great condition with the exception of a few that were not staying in a sharp point, they were almost split like a snakes tongue. I could not get them to come together as a sharp point no matter what I tried. Considering I only tried a few brushes at this point and having these concerns I reconsidered my initial reaction and would now rate this purchase a four. The colors are very nice, most are highly pigmented and closely represent what is on the end cap of the brush. Colors seem to work better on mixed media paper versus watercolor paper. Different colors reacted differently with technique. Some instances the colors became muddy when trying to blend. Reworking a dried color takes a lot of effort and in some instances it can be done without any evidence of reworking and sometimes it is not possible. These and a few other minor issues caused me to reconsider and to give it three stars. I really wanted to like this set and based on my initial reaction I added the Arteza Professional Watercolor Pencils, Set of 120 to my cart. I was hoping those two items from the same company would be consistent in color and would be a nice addition to my art supplies. I am going to see how I like this initial purchase from Arteza and determine if I will return or keep my order. The range of items and reviews were good, I don’t know if I just got a bad set or I am just expecting too much. ... show more

  • Colors are appealing. Brush quality is you get what you pay. Containers to store them hard to find.
Color: 96 Colors
The colors are appealing- as you can see from the image. Note I only use these to color and not free hand art so I cannot comment on their use if you plan to use these for making things to sell. Brush quality--is you get what you pay for situation. So this set came with 96 markers. 3/96 had tips where they were frayed but usable. 6/96 needed to have 1-4 "hairs" removed because 1 came loose and you need to use your finger or tweezers to gently pull it out sometimes you take out a "clump" but the markers are still usable. Conclusion/Storage Comment: I think the set is worth the money. I might have bought the 96 set that came with a case. The package THIS SET order comes in ONLY has a plastic point box and plastic trays which aren't the best to store and use over a long period of time. To remedy the issue, I bought a larger cylinder food container(s) to hold all 96 markers. These markers are very long, 7 inches thereabout, and the marker caps are fatter than the “butt” ends and I store these facing down. If you are very picky with how you'd like to store them, keep that in mind. There are 96 markers here. That's a lot despite them being quite skinny in terms of space you'd need to store them. Personally no case I found with plastic inserts were long enough, and I didn't and don't have space for them to be sticking out of multiple holders. Because there are 96 markers and the cap ends are fatter, finding a container to even hold them in all in ONE was hard, again I had to find a food storage cylinder with an air tight cap worked out fine. Notes: the color of the marker is on the "butt" end and so the markers are stored upside down for me to see which color I am picking. Overall the indicator is usually true to the actual marker's color. I think these are recommended to be storied horizontally, but I have not had any issues. Other reviews have mentioned to be careful when re-capping the markers or you'll damage the brush tips, and I agree. It is true you need to be careful. I'd recommend these for kids 8+ years as long as the kids are careful and so are their friends! ... show more
