  • 24 Colors for a focused palette: Work with a practical 24-color gouache paint set that includes useful brights, deeper tones, and everyday mixing colors. The range supports illustration, design work, sketchbook pages, posters, portraits, landscapes, and mixed media without taking over your workspace.
  • Opaque matte color payoff: These AP-certified non-toxic* gouache paints deliver rich coverage with the soft matte finish artists expect from gouache. Use the opaque color for bold shapes, clean edges, highlights, layered details, and areas where you want stronger coverage than transparent watercolor.
  • Creamy texture that blends cleanly: The smooth consistency spreads easily from the tube and mixes well with water for softer transitions, gradients, and controlled blending. It gives you enough body for defined brushwork while still letting you thin the paint for lighter effects.
  • Reactivate and refine with water: Gouache can be rewetted on your palette after drying, giving you more time to soften edges, adjust transitions, and reuse leftover color. This makes the set practical for testing mixes, building layers, and refining small details as you paint.

In my opinion these are a blend of student and professional.
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
I've been admiring this gouache for quite a while. It really spoke to me when I seen this company had lightfast ratings ,opacity details, and finally pigment numbers that was the icing on the cake. That quality is something present in professional and student paints. I was just so taken with all of it that I had to try it and it would be something I wouldn't be afraid to try due price point. Then I received these paints. My oh my! I put some of each color into my palette and had to try these out. First impressions is they are creamy and I could not detect even a faint smell to them.(which in gouache is a common complaint or a least one I have.) I worked on a picture to test them out and the paints stayed wet for longer. It may be humidity where I am at right now but they were wet for quite a while and gouache is notorious for drying faster than acrylic. I had such a selection of colors and some were even one pigment colors. I don't think it matters as much in gouache as it does as with watercolor but I liked it. The colors were so bright and pigmented for the price.(I am still over the moon they put pigment numbers on the tubes.) I am still so overjoyed by these. The only color I questioned really was the bright neon pink labeled "peach red" because it looks like opera rose. I can't find too much to nitpick. The gouache even rewets a lot easier than my holbein colors. I found myself not needing to scrub at them as much. It is really obvious they put some thought into this product and made it for artists to explore with good quality paint for less money. It is really obvious in the way they presented the products. Honestly I think this paint is a nice blend between student and professional and would recommend any one wanting to explore gouache to try this. ... show more

Good quality-price for begin with the gouache technique
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
I have always enjoyed using watercolors, but I was very excited to learn how to use gouache. I didn't want to spend too much because I wasn't sure if the technique would suit me, so I decided to try two popular beginner gouache sets: Arteza and HIMI. The set comes in a box that is easy to store and doesn't take up much space. It includes 24 colors with a plastic divider inside that keeps the gouache organized. Despite the price, the gouache has good pigmentation with a thick, creamy consistency, especially the opaque colors. You can see the opacity at the bottom of the tube, indicated by a square; if the square is filled, it is very opaque. Comparing this with another student grade gouache, in terms of pigmentation and colors, I prefer Arteza. Another important factor for me is the information Arteza provides: the lightfastness, transparency, and pigment number used to create each color. This helps me a lot when I want to follow tutorials to achieve the same results, and I am very satisfied with this. This set is very suitable for beginners, and you don't need to apply many layers, unlike other student grade gouache brands. Keep in mind that it is not professional grade, but it performs very well. Despite not being professional, the pigments resist fading over time, especially if you use them pure. However, if you dilute them (tint), many of them, especially the pinks and purples, will definitely fade over time. I've been following several tutorials to fill my first gouache sketchbook, and after 31 paintings (5" x 8.25"), I still have many colors left, except for the white, which is totally fine. In gouache, you will need a lot of white, so keep that in mind. The set comes with two whites: titanium white and zinc white. Titanium white is more opaque and helps with highlights and reducing color saturation much faster than zinc white. From one beginner to another, I am really satisfied with Arteza, more than other student brands. I'm looking forward to finishing this set and moving on to a semi-professional one. ... show more

Surprisingly fantastic gouache! Performs as well as more expensive "Artists' Grade" brands.
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
So, I was expecting this this gouache to be on the same level as many of the other student grades that I've tried (withholding brand names), and I've actually been blown away by the performance of Arteza's quality. I bought the first set of 24 tubes from Amazon (I use Amazon a LOT for all things), and after seeing the level of quality, I purchased a second set to refill my palette from the Arteza website. The packing and shipping care from the Arteza site was much higher than what I saw from Amazon. I think for the more fragile items such as pencils, ordering directly from the Arteza site would result in safer transit. When working with gouache, I normally use my "artists' grade" stuff (Da Vinci, M. Graham, Holbein, etc.), and have been happy with them, they perform very well. I was shocked at how well the Arteza gouache performed in comparison to my "professional" level paint. Virtually streak-free (streaks are VERY common in other low-cost brands), very creamy and most important for me, highly consistent across all of the different colors/tubes. I experienced NO separation of pigments/vehicles across the entire set of 24 colors, which is something that I've noticed as an issue in EVERY brand of "artists' grade" gouache that I've used to date. I highly commend Arteza for including the pigments used for each color. As a professional artist, it is important to me that I know the level of quality that I'm putting into my work. With that being said...a note on gouache: Gouache is historically NOT a medium that has been widely-considered long-life. Most "professional level" gouache brands don't waste a lot of time worrying about pigments. Gouache is traditionally a "Designers''" medium and is intended to be used for quick laydown of ideas, and then photographed or duplicated, without worrying about lightfastness of the pigments. Holbein gouache, which is highly regarded, has a LOT of questionable, if not downright fugitive, pigments in their line. All of that said, again, I'm VERY impressed with the quality and performance of Arteza gouache! Not only has it become my first recommendation for my students based on performance, it could easily displace my much more expensive "artists' grade" collection for everyday use in sketchbooks and studies. Of note, like all gouache, I think you'll find that if you would like to reuse squeezed-out paints again, keeping them moist is important. I'm including a picture of the cheap 24-well palette that I bought on eBay, and how I've rearranged the 24-color set to fit. While I'm using it with the lid off, I keep the wells hydrated by dropping water into them. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't fill the wells so close to the top; it is easier when they aren't spilling over the edges. Of note, like all of my more expensive gouache, if allowed to dry, Arteza will crack and crumble at the extremes. Not a big deal, any gouache artist will tell you that this is normal. I'm including some pictures of a few small projects that I've done (all around 5x7) using this Arteza 24-color gouache set. Sorry for the chicken-centric theme! I've been documenting our little backyard flock in my sketchbook. The portraits of the roosters are "The Little Guy" and "Big Ernie". The egg and apples are standard still life, and the BBQ sign is something that we drove by in Fort Worth, TX a couple of weeks ago, and I had to capture it! Without hesitation, I've been filling my cart with other Arteza products so I can compare them to more of my "artists' grade" mediums! I'm looking forward to when I can afford to explore more the Arteza lines. So far, I've been very impressed! Please keep up the great work, Arteza! ... show more

Really Good, but can be Great with a little help… read below
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
This Goiache rally is pretty fantastic. If using right out of the tubes I have ZERO complaints at all. It’s opaque and matte and dries even and beautifully and the colors are all very intense and mix cleanly and completely. No gritty texture or chalky residue or anything!! They are great. The issue comes in if you want to dry these into a palette to use on the go. They WILL crack and crumble and fall out BUT I FOUND AN EASY SIMPLE EFFECTIVE FIX!!! All you need to do is when filling your travel palette, add 2-4 drops of honey from a toothpick (or glycerin from a dropper) and then use that toothpick to stir that honey in really well. This will not effect the performance unless you add to much honey which can be corrected by adding more gouache but this will cause the gouache to dry, but still retain some moisture enough to prevent it from cracking and crumbling apart and falling out of the wells of your travel palette. I truly am enjoying this gouache now!! I love painting on the go on location or at a friends or on the train or whatever! This venture into gouache has been very rewarding!! I highly recommend this as a first gouache set!! Even for experienced gouache users this is just fine and well!! Adding the honey also makes it reactivate much faster which is always a bonus!! Give it a try trust me you won’t be sorry! ... show more

Really great beginner set
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
TL;DR: great price, good quality for beginners not looking to sell a kidney I bought this gouache set to see if it was actually something I would like without spending a ton of money. After messing around a little bit, I found that I really like gouache as a medium, and this budget set seems really solid for the cost. One thing I will note is that the color names are not on the tubes or the box. The pigment ID is on both, but that isn't super helpful to me. The color chart on the Arteza website is the most helpful, and I've attached that picture to my review. I ended up setting up a paint storage palette in one of these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074W5TFD7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). Each cell probably fits about half to 3/4 of a tube, so I still have a fair amount of gouache in the tubes. So far, I haven't had any issues. I've left the paint in the storage palette for a couple weeks at a time (or more, whoops lol) and there hasn't been any mold growing and it hasn't dried out (not drying out is probably more of a testament to the storage palette, but still good to know lol). After a couple weeks, the binder does tend to separate a bit, but all you have to do is stir it up and it's good as new! You will probably end up using a TON of white for mixing colors like I did, so I ended up ordering a larger tube of Windsor & Newton zinc white (and will probably soon be buying a W&N titanium white tube). With that white being the only point of comparison I have for the Arteza gouache, I can still say that this set is really solid. I AM, however, able to tell the difference in quality between the two gouaches. W&N has a slightly creamier texture and seems (slightly) more opaque than the Arteza zinc white, but it's not very noticeable, and if you're just starting to get into the hobby, these will serve you very well. ... show more

OK WOW
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
I've never used gouache before, so I purchased this kit (lightning deal, $14) alongside a reeves kit ($9). Both are recommended as quality beginner materials, though Arteza advertises itself as professional grade. I swatched everything at once to get used to the feeling of gouache and holy cow. SUCH AN UPGRADE from watercolors. So smooth! So pigmented! So vibrant! And I really had a ball with all of the gorgeous extra colors you get in this 24 pack. I tried the Reeves AFTER the Artezas. The colors were just as gorgeous, maybe a tenth of a shade duller, and I noticed they didn't quite blend as well as the Artezas. I needed more water to pull the pigment across the paper, and when I did it took more effort and more paint to get the colors to go down consistently. The Reeves took longer to dry because of all the extra water, and dried slightly thicker on the paper than the Arteza paints. Honestly, the differences are subtle, but they're there. If I hadn't bought the two packs at the same time I would've been perfectly satisfied with Reeves; having never used gouache before. But man, if you're between the two and going for that smooth as butter texture with good working time for blending, you better get yourself some Artezas. I'm honestly inspired by the quality of these paints. Ready to get the art block moving! ... show more

EXCELLENT!!!
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
This is by far the BEST gouache I’ve ever used! Please ignore that jelly stuff that’s becoming tiktok popular because the quality is terrible and you will be disappointed. This I product is perfect for a beginner gouache user. The texture is perfect once dried and the colors are so bright and vivid. PERFECT for mixing and making your own colors. I’m so impressed with the quality, the amount of colors, and the smooth way it glides on the paper. I’m so very happy! ... show more

Hands down, the best gouache for the money!
Style: Set of 24 Assorted Tones
You can't do much better than ARTEZA's gouache-- not if you aren't willing to spend a LOT more money! Although the tubes seem little, this gouache is very pigmented and it takes way less than you'd think! My photos do not do the colors justice-- they are wonderfully vibrant. They mix well, and are very creamy and not grainy at all! The only issue with them is that they aren't quite as opaque as I like, and like most other gouaches, they are best used in their tube/liquid form (which can be a bit clunky to travel with). However, at ~$26, these are definitely a steal! ... show more
