I got this kit in 2022 for my brother's holiday gift. I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the products within and outside of the kit. This kit has great bang for your buck, there is an awesome variety of materials that have loved up the arteza brand. On their own, here are the prices of the products: $26.00- 24 Acrylic paints $26.99- 24 Gouache $18.00- 12 Watercolor tubes $20.00- 12 Metallic watercolor half-pans $7.75- 5 Acrylic markers (Valued at 1.54 cents a piece, there is not a set of five at the time of writing, so I did some math to work it out) $10.00- 10 glitter gel pens (Valued at 1.00 a piece, there is no set of ten at this time) $3.00- Water Brush pen $29.99- Black DIY sketch pad $16.00- Watercolor Paper pad $8.00- Canvas Pad $2.00- 4 Wood slices (No official listing for wood slices, but they average .50 cents on the market) $2.00- 2 black/white 8*8 canvas panels (No official listing, but averages 1.00 on the market) $3.00- 2 black/white 9*12 canvas panels (No official listing, but averages 1.50 on the market) $7.00- 2 black/white 9*12 stretched canvas (No official listing, but averages 3.50 on the market) $10.00- 5 Paint brushes (No official listing, but averages 2.00 on the market) $1.00- Plastic Pallet (No official listing, but averages 1.00 on the market) So, if my math maths right, you are getting 190 dollars worth of product for significantly less than that. What a great set for a nice price! How anyone could ever beat the price is beyond me. What do you want more for $15? 12 paints (2 white, 1 black) Sap green, Lemon yellow, crimson, and Viridian Green are all colors I didn't have from other sets. I haven't used the brushes or paper yet, but I have swatched the colors, even tested them with white to make pastels. I used the handy dandy color wheel too. I plan on staining my case a burgundy red. I will put a layer of white paint on one side of the pallet and seal the wooden painting board. I'll need to tape the edges to keep that wood raw so it still slides into the holder. The holder is tricky and I wish there was 2 mixing trays instead of 1, but I'm still happy!

This is a review of Arteza’s Gouache Paint Kit Basically, you get: paints, brushes, gouache pad, and case with palette. You also receive a color wheel and a six-tray color mixer I will start with the paints: Good paints, well mixed when coming out of the tubes, and thick enough to leave brush strokes when dry without cracking. The twelve colors they give you, allow for the mixing of an unlimited number of additional colors and shades. And the colors come out bright and vivid. They do give you two tubes of white, which is a good thing. The brushes: Not the best, but okay. The ferrules (the part that connects the brush to the handle) on the two larger brushes is wobbly; the others are firm. The bristles hold a good amount of paint and deliver it to the paper. The paper: Twenty sheets of 8 x 10 inch / 20.3 x 25.4 cm paper, weighing in at 160 g/m2. That is a good beginner’s weight paper. The Palette: The palette is composed of unfinished wood. You can use it for gouache paints, if they are not thinned down; however, being unfinished, it will stain with the colors you are using. Make sure to clean it off after each use, but do not use too much water. A lot of water on unfinished wood will cause it to warp. If I may suggest, spray, or brush it with a clear sealer, and your problem is solved. It also comes with a six tray, plastic paint mixer that helps in mixing/combining new colors. The Box: I really like the box, it is sturdy and, like the palette, is made of unfinished wood. It has 5 compartments with dividers that can be removed to create a customized configuration. The unfinished wood allows you to customize the box to your individual tastes, or just leave it as is. I plan on coating it with a dark stain and sealer, to give it a more “sophisticated” look. Bottom Line This is not what I would call a “professional” paint kit; however, with that said, I would be proud to give this to a new or intermediate artist. Bought for my granddaughter’s 11th birthday. She was delighted with all the assortment of paints, watercolors, acrylics and even some metallics, LOTS of paints. It included many different sizes of canvases, both white & black too. Everything comes in a nice wooden box with hinged drawers that lift out. It was a super gift for my granddaughter!

I received my package today and the brushes weren’t included, the wooden divider was broken and some of the paint looked as if it had been used. I’d return it but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else but amazon. The box itself is very nice and it isn’t too large, which I do like. The handle is a nice pleather and I love that you can store your palettes in the lid. It is a little hard to wiggle out however, so it might be easier to keep them just in the base itself. Overall it’s a good value, plenty of variety, especially if you just want to try out gouache. Besides the missing pieces and weird semi-empty paint I’m pretty happy.
