I got sick of repairing my son's Granite and decided to get this on Black Friday. I immediately upgraded to a 3s brushless system using a BLX slipper clutch gear box. I can confirm that slimmer gear box works/fits without issue. The only small issue is the chassis spine block, the piece you remove to remove the power block, is too slim and will only fit on one of the grooves and will not clamp the power block in place. I ran fine with it but I have ordered the older style chassis spine block to get a snug fit, just for peace of mind. As for durability, no issues bashing this thing pretty good on 3s. It is super fun to drive and very planted. Very rarely roll it compared to our Big Rock 3s. It is fast too on 3s, really rips. Definitely recommended, but can only speak to running on brushless drive system. ... show more

    • Something special about driving a 1/8 buggy even if it is brushed!

These brushes Typhons handle so well I couldn't resist. Even without sway bars or a center differential there is something really special about these cars. They are planted and very predictable, they jump amazing, and simply don't break unless you are trying to abuse it. The newer, larger brushed motor is definitely a bit quicker than the old one so mine will stay brushed for a while, probably with one tooth larger on the pinion to get 25mph. I have another that is 3 or more years old that I put a brushless setup in and it has been flawless. These have the metal ball studs, metal pinion gears, super easy clipless body that really seals the car off from dirt which should all keep it running longer without maintenmace. This is an excellent RC for anyone. Also would be a great vehicle for a stock race class for smiles instead of the super-serious classes that keep beginners and fun-havers away. ... show more

Bought this for the wife at $219 then a couple days later they where selling them $80 cheaper for $139 and now the horizon sight has them at $99. Feel like we got ripped off!! Not to mention she can't run it for more then 5 minutes without the motor feeling like its on fire. Very disappointed i geuss I should have just stayed with Traxxas. ... show more

For a 1/8th scale buggy this things pretty cool. Quality seems good and durability too . It handles pretty well . Speed is about 21mph not bad for a car this size brushed. Will eventually likely do a brushless upgrade. Biggest battery to fit is a 2s 5200mah hard pack lipo. Not sure bout 3s fit yet. Gotta find a nice dirt track with jumps for this buggy. Good size maybe little too big. Slow BUT Good to practice control if you are getting into Rc Car Hobby. Don’t run it hard and watch the heat. There are a lot of videos out there of people doing some very unsafe driving with these little machines. I witnessed a small child get hurt really bad by a RC car Not this one but a much faster one drove right into him at 50+ MPH broke his little leg. I’m saying this because children do watch bashing videos. Adults please reiterate the safety of some of these faster cars. Sometimes at these areas where these cars are driven it small ones around. ... show more

    • Arrma charges way to much for their crap..

No Rc especially a named brand should come with a brushed motor. They all should be brushless and the differential gears are plastic with a metal gear turning them so with that combo you know how that’s gonna work. I literally tore out the brushed motor and put a 2 to 3 S combo out of my Arrma Vendetta before even driving. These Rc manufacturers are charging way too much for these vehicles. I’m tired of paying for the name when there’s no names out there charging less and giving a way better Rc. ... show more
