Description

Take your bashing to new extremes of power, capability, and toughness with the ARRMA TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 ready-to-run buggy. It’s more than an affordable way to enter into amped-up 1/8 scale off-road action. With the TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4, you can experience bigger, better bashing now - then upgrade later to brushless power and reach even greater performance peaks. With a low center of gravity, high-downforce wing, wide arms, and multi-surface wheels and tires, the TYPHON MEGA has proven to be the ideal platform for easing your way into aggressive 1/8 scale bashing. Super-durable and easy to handle, it lets you tackle a larger size and faster speeds with complete confidence. Now the TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 takes the popular buggy’s impressive performance to the next level. Its high-speed MEGA 665 brushed motor is 11% larger than the 550-size motor of its predecessor, with an aluminum heatsink and 35mm cooling fan to boost efficiency and power. If you’re eventually aiming to go brushless, the included transmission is already 3S brushless-ready. It’s also protected against damage from excessive torque by a new, maintenance-free overload coupling. Large chassis side guards lock out dirt. An all-terrain suspension and oil-filled, coilover shocks soak up bumps. You can adjust the ride height over uneven surfaces to add more ground clearance. Whatever the conditions, the multi-surface dBoots 2-HO tires provide awesome traction. The TYPHON body comes factory-finished in several fresh color schemes, and now uses a clipless body retention system to preserve its lean, smooth looks. Rounding out this ready-to-run package are high-quality Spektrum electronics, including an SLT2 2.4GHz transmitter, LiPo-ready SLT 2-in-1 40A ESC/Receiver, and S661 digital metal-gear servo for precise, powerful steering. So just add your own battery and charger. Then, take your ARRMA TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 to your favorite dirt, gravel, or short grass bashing grounds. Set up some ramps or dirt mounds. Grab the transmitter, punch the throttle - and get set to speed and leap in a big way. In The Box Needed to Complete 1/8 TYPHON MEGA 665 4X4 RTR Brushed Buggy With a 3S brushless-ready transmission included as standard, the ARRMA TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 comes equipped for an easy brushless power system upgrade for greater efficiency and even higher speeds. An overload coupling (torque limiter) is included instead of a slipper clutch, to reduce maintenance and protect the transmission from excessive torque. The durable chassis is ventilated to keep on-board components cool. Large side guards offer more protection from dirt. Stealth monochrome electronics are included for good looks, and the battery straps adjust to accept your choice of 2S LiPo hardcase battery. The TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 racing buggy body is securely held in place by a hidden clipless body retention system. The body comes in a choice of bold, factory-finished color schemes and includes a high downforce wing. High-quality, waterproof Spektrum electronics are installed for bashing in any conditions. The SLT 2-in-1 40A ESC/Receiver is LiPo-ready. For precise steering, ARRMA includes a powerful S661 metal-gear digital servo that produces 125 oz-in torque at 6V. The included Spektrum SLT2 transmitter is perfectly balanced for fatigue-free bashing and has a foam wheel for precise fingertip control. Less experienced bashers can set the throttle limits at 50% or 75% until ready to use the buggy’s full speed potential. Faster, more powerful, and 11% larger than the 550-size motor of its predecessor, the TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 buggy’s 14-turn MEGA 665 High Speed Brushed Motor includes an aluminum motor heatsink and 35mm motor cooling fan to boost efficiency and performance. The TYPHON MEGA 665 4x4 racing buggy’s all-terrain independent suspension and oil-filled, coilover shocks soak up bumps. If your bashing takes you over uneven surfaces, you can adjust the ride height to increase ground clearance.

  • Esc and motor get hot in about one minute. Absolutely must be upgraded.
Color: Yellow
Can not run it more then a couple minutes without the motor or esc getting wicked hot. The esc is really really bad with this. I first swapped the esc for a hobbywing 1080 I had and that helped some but the motor gets really hot too and the bushing, that you can touch on the one side gets extremely hot. Needless to say I now have a hobbywing brushless combo, 3150kv 3660 motor and it does 55mph with a 20t pinion. I also got the blx transmission and slipper clutch as well as the motor cooling fans. It's a great car but it definitely needs the electronics swapped out quickly. I also swapped the servonfor an injora 22kg servo and the car is nice now. The stock tires hold up to 55mph but I got street wheels for it. ... show more

  • Really Awesome Platform
Color: Red
I got sick of repairing my son's Granite and decided to get this on Black Friday. I immediately upgraded to a 3s brushless system using a BLX slipper clutch gear box. I can confirm that slimmer gear box works/fits without issue. The only small issue is the chassis spine block, the piece you remove to remove the power block, is too slim and will only fit on one of the grooves and will not clamp the power block in place. I ran fine with it but I have ordered the older style chassis spine block to get a snug fit, just for peace of mind. As for durability, no issues bashing this thing pretty good on 3s. It is super fun to drive and very planted. Very rarely roll it compared to our Big Rock 3s. It is fast too on 3s, really rips. Definitely recommended, but can only speak to running on brushless drive system. ... show more

  • TLDR- Would not recommend, even on sale.
Color: Red
Bought two of these, one for me and one for my son. I bought these to teach him how to drive RC on a relatively tame car first. I have decades of experience and much faster cars. After less than six runs, both cars are unusable due to burnt up motors. I thought it was the cheap RSC/RX combo so I replaced them. After calibration and no motor function I verified voltage going to the motors, they just don't work. Super disappointed in a company that claims to build "basher" RTRs. These things weren't even beat on yet and failed already. Bought on sale and still paid too much. Doesn't help replacement motors are unattainable. Would not recommend these brushed versions. Even tried to submit a claim with Arrma but my form submission failed multiple times after entering all the information from two separate orders! Get it together boys! Now I'll spend even more money switching to brushless setups when I can afford to. If I don't just cut my loses now and sell them as sliders. ... show more

  • Something special about driving a 1/8 buggy even if it is brushed!
Color: Yellow
These brushes Typhons handle so well I couldn't resist. Even without sway bars or a center differential there is something really special about these cars. They are planted and very predictable, they jump amazing, and simply don't break unless you are trying to abuse it. The newer, larger brushed motor is definitely a bit quicker than the old one so mine will stay brushed for a while, probably with one tooth larger on the pinion to get 25mph. I have another that is 3 or more years old that I put a brushless setup in and it has been flawless. These have the metal ball studs, metal pinion gears, super easy clipless body that really seals the car off from dirt which should all keep it running longer without maintenmace. This is an excellent RC for anyone. Also would be a great vehicle for a stock race class for smiles instead of the super-serious classes that keep beginners and fun-havers away. ... show more

  • Pretty cool buggy for the size and value
Color: Red
For a 1/8th scale buggy this things pretty cool. Quality seems good and durability too . It handles pretty well . Speed is about 21mph not bad for a car this size brushed. Will eventually likely do a brushless upgrade. Biggest battery to fit is a 2s 5200mah hard pack lipo. Not sure bout 3s fit yet. Gotta find a nice dirt track with jumps for this buggy. Well there you have it. ... show more

  • Arrma charges way to much for their crap..
Color: Red
No Rc especially a named brand should come with a brushed motor. They all should be brushless and the differential gears are plastic with a metal gear turning them so with that combo you know how that’s gonna work. I literally tore out the brushed motor and put a 2 to 3 S combo out of my Arrma Vendetta before even driving. These Rc manufacturers are charging way too much for these vehicles. I’m tired of paying for the name when there’s no names out there charging less and giving a way better Rc. ... show more

  • Not fast. But great platform to build on
Color: Blue
If you want fast. This isn't it. But I bought this on sale and definitely worth it to install a brushless system. I'm a hobbyist and had extra stuff laying around. This thing on 4s brushless is an absolute blast!

  • Buy it. Good size
Color: Blue
Good size maybe little too big. Slow BUT Good to practice control if you are getting into Rc Car Hobby. Don’t run it hard and watch the heat. There are a lot of videos out there of people doing some very unsafe driving with these little machines. I witnessed a small child get hurt really bad by a RC car Not this one but a much faster one drove right into him at 50+ MPH broke his little leg. I’m saying this because children do watch bashing videos. Adults please reiterate the safety of some of these faster cars. Sometimes at these areas where these cars are driven it small ones around. ... show more
