The band is comfortable, the display is large and easy to read, but unlike just about every other digital watch I have ever owned, this one requires you to press a button to see the date. Some reviewers have complained that the numbers are difficult to see, but I think those users must have gotten a watch with a display with the black background. The watch with the display with the gray background is very easy to see in all situations. The other negative about this watch is the process for changing the settings seems unnecessarily cumbersome. I usually stumble onto how to make a change, but it’s never without a struggle. I really hate to think that I have to carry the instructions with me all the time in case I find myself in need of changing the settings of the watch when I don’t have access to the internet. One thing I do like about the settings on this watch is that it requires two simultaneous button pushes to turn on the alarm or the hourly chime. I’ve had other watches that were far to easy to accidentally turn on the chime or alarm and that is very annoying. Overall, this is a good watch and a good value. I've used some model of the Timex Ironman watch for 40 years of running/walking. I found that the strap usually broke long before the battery gave out. When my band broke recently I decided to purchase a watch with a rubber band instead of resin to avoid this ongoing issue. I no longer need all the timer options that I got with the Ironman, just a simple stopwatch to time my activities. After researching many watches with the timer feature I decided on this one. Positives for me are: rubber band less likely to break, large numbers, simple timer, backlight, looks so cool! Negatives: so far none. I thought I would not like the larger face but I do, it was just different that what I was used to. I would definitely buy this again and would recommend to a friend who wanted a simple good looking watch with a timer. I do not use it in water so cannot comment on water resistence. ... show more

    • Easy Read, Water Safe, & Amateur Athlete Geared Watch BUT...
But, purchased this particular watch for my 80-year-old mother who lives in a Skilled Nursing Facility and she is not an athlete. Even so, my mother loves her watch! + It’s colorful. + Has a wrist band that fits her super small wrist. + The band also does NOT irritate her fragile elder skin. + It works. Odd to say, yes. However, TIME is a concept that is a constant for the elderly or medically-infirmed that helps keep them mentally balanced throughout their day. Hopefully, that battery will last a long time! Now for some particulars... Water Resistance — My mother says the best thing about it his item is that she can wear it while she’s bathing. This is a great thing for my husband and I, because we’ve had to replace a few watches after her nursing assistant either forgot to take it off (it was not water resistant) OR it was taken off in the bathing area and left behind! And by the time my mom realized it... a day or so later (she has late-stage dementia) the watch was nowhere to be found. Easy-to-Read — My mother says she can usually read the display easily. However, she has told me she cannot read it at night. *Honestly, I cannot remember if it has a light up function - it probably does and it’s likely she forgot the instructions my mom’s main nurse gave her. It was a gift we gave her over a week ago and the residents at her SNF have been in Preventive-Covid-19 Lockdown since March. Meaning, neither my husband nor I were able to show her how to use the light-up-face option. (Of course, she probably was told many times how to do it... bless my mama’s sweet old heart!) Personally, I have no issues reading the face of the watch. And when it’s too dark to read it - I’m usually asleep! Timer Function — This is a function neither my mother nor I, for that matter, have much need for. *The reason I marked it down to 3 stars is because my mother is a button pusher. And when I get my daily update, without fail there’s some mention about how ‘Miss Lavinia pressed the buttons on her watch again. It took a while to reset it.’ Because of her Dementia as well as her Adult ADHD, she can be impulsive leading her to touch things like buttons and she forgets that she shouldn’t do that. Then she tries to ‘fix’ the problem by pressing more buttons. Needless to say, the staff on her wing will be experts at adjusting this particular Armitron watch! ***And I mention this because there might be some parents considering purchasing this watch for their kids with ADHD to set alarms to go off to remind them to do something. If your ADHD child has the sort of impulsivity that makes them do things like press buttons - perhaps this watch is not the best option! ... show more

The numbers are not bright enough and can barely be seen. We love the watch but will be returning it because it’s so hard to see. Even the light feature doesn’t change the brightness significantly.

This colorful, comfortable watch keeps me in the know: time, date, day of week, so I think it's a great value. Yes, as other said, it's a bit of a pain to program, but I found a youtube video on this exact product. Once it's demonstrated, you'll understand the logic. However, let me share one thing that is not mentioned in the manual or the video: if you don't make a change to the time, then it will not proceed to the date. Therefore, if you do not need to change the time (but you do want to change the date), just PRETEND to change the time (let it return to the original time) and then you'll be allowed to continue on to the date. Otherwise everything is covered in the manual and/or the video. ... show more

I bought this watch as a backup for when my Apple Watch failed to charge (but this is not a smart watch). It has a large display, which I mainly bought it for. My only complaint is that it is not the easiest watch to program, but I eventually figured it out.
