Description

Arctic Ice Tundra Series has a very unique freezing point of 5°F and is designed to help maintain a consistent freezer temperature in coolers. While not as cold as dry ice, Tundra Series™ can be used as a suitable replacement (it has been shown to maintain frozen temperatures for days in controlled testing). Due to its low freezing point, Tundra Series™ can take from 18-36 hours to freeze, depending on the temperature of freezer and number of panels being frozen. To ensure Tundra Series panels are frozen, the freezer should be turned to its lowest setting or at least 0°F. It is recommended that Tundra Series be used to maintain frozen goods, such as ice cream, meats, fish, etc. Use weight equivalent to dry ice normally used for great, re-usable results. Store panels in freezer so they are ready when needed. Tundra Series panels are also top-rack dishwasher safe!

  • When they are new, they work well...
Size: Large 2.5lbs
I've used both the 2.5 and 5# freezer blocks for several years. When they are new they work well, but drastically decline. I own an ice cream company and we use these to 'replace' dry ice for some applications. After many cycles of thawing and freezing they have ALL now lost their efficacy. (We have about 15 or so of these in the two sizes.) Definitely not a dry ice replacement as they claim to be. After about 20+ cycles, they just don't freeze as cold anymore or stay frozen as long. I have reached out directly to the company twice, and they have not responded to my friendly questions about decline. I am disappointed. ... show more

  • Place in a deep freezer (-10/-20 degrees F) the work great. Also
Size: 5 lb
Anyone barking about they don't work well, read the directions, place in freezer for 36 hrs on the coldest setting, if your freezer is only +10-20 degrees F they won't work well. Place in a deep freezer (-10/-20 degrees F) they work great. Also, they have listed in black and white they are lifetime warranty, if you have problems, contact the company for a warranty maybe? ... show more

  • ... summer to keep crates of milk chilled in a sturdy Igloo cooler weekdays starting June 30
Size: 5 lb
Used it this summer to keep crates of milk chilled in a sturdy Igloo cooler weekdays starting June 30, and would then refreeze overnight. At first these cooler packs were working well, but more recently both of the cooler packs stopped refreezing over night. Now, they are useless and need to be discarded. Given how much we paid for them, this is very disappointing. Wasted our money on these. ... show more

  • So cold it traps your beer
Size: Large 2.5lbs
Texas summers are going to be a test of anything sold as "cold" and these things sure live up to their Tundra title. I put 1 5lb brick into my cooler, add just a little bit of regular ice on top of it before loading it up with beer and by the end of the night it has frozen the ice around the beer bottles themselves (possibly a great way to prevent drinking and driving!?). These things have been in a yeti, a pelican, a cheapo walmart foam, and even a grocery bag and kept drinks and food more than chilled while on the river or tailgating in 95* heat. These + any decent cooler have all but eliminated my fears of food spoilage during week long camping trips during the summer. ... show more

  • freezes quickly
Size: Large 2.5lbs
I bought 2 of these to keep our food chilled, in a cooler, on our long trip to Florida each winter. They probably would have worked better keeping frozen food frozen. When we arrived at our first stop, 8 hours later, they were no longer frozen. I also had put in the cooler 2 smaller, older ice packs and 2 quarts of water frozen. The food was still cool thanks to the other items I had frozen which was still almost frozen solid when we arrived. These 2 new ice packs were thawed enough to hear the water sloshing when moved! Will not buy again. ... show more

  • These are Amazing! Cold As Advertised!!!
Size: Large 2.5lbs
Seriously I'm pretty shocked they live up to their hype. I've played around with various generic ice packs and used dry ice for camping (this still aren't THAT cold though) and I'm just impressed. We used a very thin walled soft cooler to pack stuff for the holiday drive. 7 Hours sitting on the floor in the middle row just above the exhaust. When I opened the cooler the ice pack was still half frozen, with FROST on it, and the cut fruit in a baggie right under it was itself semi-frozon (didn't start that way). So not only did the pack not thaw out in all that time (lots of capacity), but it got managed to actually freeze someone (it absorbed a lot of heat). Again, this isn't dry ice. If you need that much cooling capacity only one thing will do. But if you're looking to keep things cold and DRY for a good while these are amazing. I bought a Small, Medium, and a Large. Now I'm tempted to try an XL to use in the camping cooler along with a smaller block of dry ice. IDEA: Instead of replenishing the dry ice in the cooler, use the spare dry ice to refreeze the ice pack! Hmmmmm Should keep me from accidentally freezing things that shouldn't freeze. ... show more

  • Disappointing
Size: Large 2.5lbs
I bought the premium purple "Tundra" product, as I inferred that it would maintain a colder temperature than other cold packs in the Arctic Ice line. I get a solid freeze in our zero degree freezer (confirmed by thermometer), but I'm surprised by how quickly the pack begins to thaw inside my cooler. No objective test, but *seems* no more long lasting than an equivalent block of ice from straight H2O. Well designed, rugged pack, and maintains it shape (doesn't bulge) when fully frozen. But not sure paying for the allegedly superior purple Tundra pack delivers a significant incremental benefit over its less expensive blue or green cousins. ... show more

  • Careful, it will freeze items you out next to it.
Size: Large 2.5lbs
It does get colder than the average ice pack. I am using it for a lunch cooler. Great to keep your drinks very cold but the first time I used it I had some hard boiled eggs in a ziplock bag in my cooler. They did freeze! I think this one is overkill for a lunch cooler but it’s pretty good otherwise. It doesn’t stay frozen any longer than any other ice pack I have used. It’s about average in that respect. By the end of my 10 hour day at work it is pretty much room temperature but I’m also only using a $30 soft cooler to keep it insulated. ... show more
