The ARCCAPTAIN TIG200ACDCP has truly exceeded my expectations, prompting me to share my thoughts through this rare review. Although I have yet to explore its stick weld function, my primary focus has been on the TIG capabilities. Having worked with both DC and AC, tackling steel and aluminum, I can confidently declare this machine as nothing short of awesome. Setting up the ARCCAPTAIN was a breeze, thanks to its user-friendly interface. Dialing in the right settings proved to be an effortless task, allowing me to produce commendable beads right from the get-go. The machine's dash arc is nothing short of incredible, boasting a smooth start that synchronizes seamlessly with the foot pedal. The stability of the arc is unmatched, outshining even machines that come with heftier price tags. One standout feature is the precision of the selector knobs and switches, facilitating accurate adjustments with remarkable ease. Compact and light, easy setup, great customer service from a company that really wants to provide a nice product. Update: This is a very capable little tig welder, been using it on a couple job sites for repair and small fab. The price is definitily a selling point and cant beat the HF starts with slope etc. I upgraded to a better work clamp/cable and CK Worldwide 17 torch, using stubby gas lens. Nothing I have seen on the market can compete with this little unit right now. You can carry it with a small bottle of argon plug it up to 120V and fix almost anything, for those bigger jobs it does even better on 240V. ***Hooked up a pedal to the machine to see how it would do. Its an XS12 5 pin male connector, they all have to come from China, so it will take a few weeks. Easy enough to change out connector. Pins 3&4 are to start the arc, 1,2,5 are for the 2w/10k pot. Has full range from 10-200 amps. You will set max amps in panel mode then switch to remote for pedal (using pedal it will go to amps set in panel), its smooth and holds well on desired power. Pedal was a game changer for ease of use bench welding. Used it on a bigger job site powered by a Miller Bobcat 250 as generator, ran it for 3 days welding pipe, it never missed a beat on 240V. Welds turned out nice and no problems with generator power. We can use the Bobcat to tig weld but dont have a HF box hooked up so this is an easier/cheaper option to have HF, also gives the abilty to move around with just longer extension cords and the unit is right there to change amps if needed. You can pulse on the downslope by just clicking trigger off and on. It was run way past its listed duty cycle many times with no issues.

I was looking to advance my welding capabilities when a flash sale popped up on this welder. I am just a hobby level welder and do no pretend or attempt to claim to be an expert or any level of certification. I'm learning. Basic set up of this welder was a breeze. It is easy to dial in exactly the values for things such as amps, etc. Figuring out what the various waveforms should be used for what types of welds is another matter. Lots of research was required to learn about waveforms in welding Once everything was dialed in, I started to lay some decent beads. Next is to try the exercise of laying a bead on the edge. This is a heat control learning exercise that can be tricky to master and impossible with a welder that doesn't produce a steady current. The photo is after several attempts, but I was able to finally dial both the welder and my technique to lay a bead on the edge of a 2.4mm Aluminum plate. The other feature of this welder is it is very quite. The fans do turn on when the unit is first turned on, but I don't hear them when doing short DC welds. Also, this welder cut my gas use by more than half. The starting level welder used a manual value on the TIG torch. Pre and post flow values on this welder will only flow gas when welding.
