I fully expected a poorly designed machine i would have to return but i was blown away by the ease of use design. My son and I were needing to weld plated on a zero turn deck and it truly amazed both of us and you can carry it in one hand with no effort. They packed a lot of features in this thing. Good little welder. i thought i received a faulty unit, but it ended up being user error. Tried to use the gasless fluxcore feature and wouldnt arc. Turns out you have to connect some things different than normal mig, thats why its important to read instructions before hand lol. Once i had everything connected right it worked flawlessly. I only wish the lead, ground, and whip that are included were a bit longer and that you didnt have to run 220vac to be able to use the full 160a its rated for. With 110vac you can only use up to 120a which is ok for most of my applications but still. All in all good little machine for the price.

This little welder works just fine! I replaced a wire welder with this one & I like this one a lot better. I am not a welder, but I ran the best bead of my life with this. I only had one task for it, but now I am looking around for something else to weld with it.

Let me start by disclosing that I am not a professional welder by any means. I needed a welder to fix my lawnmower deck and other random things around the house. I saw this on Amazon for a really cheap price so I researched Arccaptain on YouTube to see some reviews and it seemed to be a great device. I watched 2 hours of how to weld videos on YouTube and ordered this welder. Everything about this unit seemed well designed and me with no experience except videos was able to setup up and use in about 5 minutes after unpacking the box. It was easy to adjust wire tension and power settings after seeing how to on videos. It is a solid welder that after practicing laying beads on a few pieces of metal I fixed many things around my home and fixed a few things for friends. I've used it to weld as thin as door sheetmetal skin back onto door frame on friends van to 1/4" material on farm implements that are still holding tight and strong. The unit itself is light and highly portable and is handy that you can plug into 120v so it can be used anywhere without needing 220v plug. The mig torch and feed are smooth and easy for a beginner to use and the supplied wire is strong and doesn't put off alot of spatter. I've already sent links to a few of my friends who have bought units themselves because they liked mine so much. Great product buy it!

I think the negative reviews for this product might be because the ground goes to the positive terminal. I set the welder up, and while it's not the most robust feed system it was easy and straightforward. Being a welder, I assumed the ground would go to the negative terminal. When I went to weld the wire fed, but no arc. In frustration, I went to read the instructions and sure enough the ground goes to the positive terminal. No I did not do a project with this yet, but I did about 10 minutes of welding and it seems like a nice little machine for the money.
