  • Great Welder, know what you need for best results
Style: MIG Welder 160A
I have used this for wire feed welding with gas shielding. I picked up a 40cf ARCo2 cylinder on Amazon for about $200. Got solid copper .35 wire from harbor freight and it’s worked fine. One thing I will say, I was unable to run it above 80amps on the 110v adapter plug. I paid to have an electrician install a 50amp breaker and outlet. That cost me $150 in Arizona. Once I did that I could run it all the way up to 200 amp setting without any problems. I am new to welding and this has been a great machine to practice with. I have been welding 12ga practice coupons at 125 amps no problem and getting good quality results. This is a great machine as long as you are willing to make the investment in the right power and tools. Very happy and I think this will be great for the small projects I want to do around the house. ... show more

  • Great welder in a small case
Style: MIG Welder 160A
Having been a welder for 25 years and using the older technology, I'm amazed at how good this welder works! I set up the mig to weld on my 66 Mustang and it outperformed my expectations. Quality welds from the get go An excellent welder at a reasonable price

  • Make sure to read instructions first
Style: MIG Welder 160A
Good little welder. i thought i received a faulty unit, but it ended up being user error. Tried to use the gasless fluxcore feature and wouldnt arc. Turns out you have to connect some things different than normal mig, thats why its important to read instructions before hand lol. Once i had everything connected right it worked flawlessly. I only wish the lead, ground, and whip that are included were a bit longer and that you didnt have to run 220vac to be able to use the full 160a its rated for. With 110vac you can only use up to 120a which is ok for most of my applications but still. All in all good little machine for the price. ... show more

  • Not bad at all for a 160
Style: MIG Welder 160A
I bought it for a small projects at home and it burns damn good. It’s light weight, smooth and easy to set up on the 110. I will try it on 220 next which I’m sure will be even smoother. I haven’t ran gas through it but the flux wire penetrated the square tubing well. Im going to try the plasma cutter next and Im hoping it’s just as good as this. ... show more

  • Quality for a little of nothing..
Style: MIG Welder 160A
I wish I would have took pictures of some welds I layed using gasless might and stick..maybe tomorrow..but first off I'm 46 years old and I started welding at 26. I've worked at shipyards, under a contractor for the US government, a few fab shops, and production welding plants.. I don't believe in a such thing as a beginners welder. You'd be a fool to spend a bunch of money on a welder especially if you're not going to push it through the torture it's price deserves so get price out of your head when picking a machine...only function on the welders functions, and solely what you need it for..I welded for years and have learned how to get the same results on a cheap welder as well as the expensive ones..The only thing that differs is it's features..The Arccaptain 160 is a potential all-around welder rather it be small projects to maybe something heavier being that you can run 220 as well..Also the choice to use a backing gas or not..It's a rugged built welder that I found to weld rather smooth especially if you choose a good gasless wire or rod..I'm using Blue Demon gasless flux core wire and Blue Demon 3/32 7018's..It will definitely get the job done..No matter cheap or expensive, the same fundamental elements of welding apply to both meaning you can make a weld from a cheap welder look just as good as one from a expensive welder..So when choosing a welder forget the price and focus on the functionality you need for what you do..with that being said, This welder is a winner in my book.. ... show more

  • PLEASE READ
Style: MIG Welder 160A
!! PLEASE READ !! If you are welding gasless flux remember ITS DCEN. Now most machines the electrode negative goes through the machine BUT for this one the short cord in the front has to be plugged in to the negative. ( For reference look at the picture I posted) Almost threw it away. Besides that it runs great! ... show more
