  • Took a chance, glad I did!
I got this today for Xmas 2024 for my twin boys. Tons of great games and easy to access the micro SD card. It has just 6 gb of the included 32gb card free, if that gives you an idea of the game count. The dual screen is going to be neat, especially for multiplayer fighting games. You can also output to an external monitor, and it has external usb so that you could use game controllers too. It’s compact, and shockingly heavyweight. Joystick seems decent, with what feels like an octagonal gate. Buttons are push in type, but seems moddable if you wanted to throw in sanwa or some professional panel-mount buttons. It comes with two spare buttons just in case. I wanted to change the name though… the name is typically Chinese, so it’s called the “3D fashion Arcade” on boot. If you mount the file system (there are two partitions) you can make your own bitmap image to at least fix that. Still trying to figure out how to change the intro video and select screen background so it is all consistent. Finally, the games all have images and preview videos, necessary as there are so many games. I assume you could clone the drive that comes with it and make a larger SD card if you have more ROMs. There is MAME emulation, as well as neogeo, snes, famicom, gameboy and gba support, and more. ... show more

  • I like the concept but the execution has some limits
I have a couple of handheld consoles that consolidate the vintage video games from my past to be nice and conveniently playable from a single device. This seemed like it would be one of those but in a fun head to head player 1 vs. player 2 format. Also attractive is the prospect of being able to use the muscle memory of the cabinet controls that was built up quarter by quarter. This has some of that present. The controls feel familiar. The construction is solid and maybe even a little heavy. The problems with it are that the interface lags and the controls feel like you are clicking separate buttons direction by direction and the rolls do not quite execute the way you would recognize from the arcade cabinets. The device closes and locks to be carried like a video game brief case, however the joy sticks have to be removed before closing and does not really have a good place to carry them which mostly defeats the purpose for portability. Finally the biggest problem is that the menus are not as intuitive or easy to navigate as other systems. There does not appear to be a search function for games and there are a lot of duplicates and unknown games, mostly from the 8 to 16 bit eras of video games. if it was just hardware I was reviewing I would go higher but for the whole solution I think it is just not going to get a lot of use. ... show more
