This system closes the opening at the top of the snorkel while submerged under the water and reopens when the snorkel reaches the surface.Even waves crash overhead, the splash-guard will prevent water from coming into the snorkel. This snorkel is the perfect addition to my scuba diving and snorkeling gear. What I love most about this snorkel is its dry top design. Bought one of each from this manufacturer for our St John trip. One with bag was preferred due to better clip. The other one (same part #,brand,mftr,unisex) clipped like a paper clip and my husband had a little trouble but it was ok, did the trick. I loved the bag as extra bonus because after them being in the water, they were able to dry out. It also held our masks. They also stopped if you went under water so no need to worry about breathing in water. I would purchase this brand again.

Works great, I love the float valve on the top it really helps in rough water and I was able to dive down deep under water and when I came up just needed a little puff of air to clear the tiny bit of water out the valve in the bottom.

Bought this for use in the Caribbean and it worked great compared to the snorkle you get when you sign up for a snorkle excursion. When there were waves the water didn't splash and go down the top, the little balls worked great at not letting water in. Even my friends were wanting to use it.
