  • Fast motion detection and light sensor that works with Home Assistant with Sky Connect
Style: Motion sensor P1
I bought this because I wanted to try it out with Home Assistant. So, I'm running a Raspberry Pi 5 with Home Assistant. I also have the SkyConnect Zigbee/Matter (or is it Thread? it confuses me) antenna connected to the Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant. I enabled pairing mode on the Aqara sensor and performed a search on Home Assistant. It found the sensor right away. I was able to configure a few testing Automations like turning on my Hue lights (I also have a Philips Hue bridge with Hue lights around the house) in the Living Room. Pretty neat having that cross product functionality. The motion sensor is responds quickly and is accurate. It also has a light sensor, but I don't use that functionality; at least not yet. It's zigbee 3.0 but I'm not sure if it is upgradable to Matter in the future. I plan to use this in the kitchen for a night light sensor for under the cabinet LED lights. I think it will work great with Home Assistant, WLED, and BTF light strips under the cabinet. I just have to create an automation that turns on the light strips when motion is detected during a specific time frame. Easy peazy! ... show more

  • PASS THROUGH TRIGGERs
Style: Motion sensor P1
The most important thing that you need to know about these motion sensors is they are pass through triggers. Meaning, when you pass one in a hall it will turn on the lights, but no matter how much you stand in front of them waving your hands and jumping up and down like an idiot it will not make the light stay on. Hopefully that just saved you about 6 months of trouble. These are meant to be super fast on conditions but also used as an on /off statue with other sensors to make conditions like "If this is in the off state, this is in the off state, AND the door is closed then > OFF Its controlled by an internal timer that is non user accessible and once triggered that count down timer is counting down to Zero and then shouting of whatever it's paired to regardless if you look like you're trying to wave down the police or not. Then after an a out of user adjustable time, it resets before you can trigger it on again. Let me recapped that point When you go into Aqaras app you will see a "timer interval" this isn't what makes logical sense "I set this to one minute and after that minute the lamp turns off" (Thats the internal timer you can't adjust) The Timer interval is the time AFTER it's counts down and shuts off before it can report its next status state. Once you realize this you set it up differently I have one in front of a door that has a contact sensor then another one of these on the other side of the door. I have the conditions set up that the 2 motion sensors must be in an off state and the contact must be in a closed position before it even thinks about shouting off a light When I walk twards the door the first motion sensor (this aqara) picks me up and just registers motion but doesn't turn the light on in the hall. That's important because opening the door does turn the hall way light on, but now that first motion sensor has to reset before the light turns off where if I just had the contact sensor the door opening would turn it on and closing the contact would turn it off. So you'd turn on a light to the garage by opening the door, but then immediately run it of by closing the door and that's not what you want. You want this sensor to register the movement, start counting down but give you enough time to open and close the door then walk by ANOTHER mition sensor (Philips outdoor) on the other side (inside the garage) that's doing the same thing. Now both the Aqara motion sensor AND the Philips Hue outdoor motion sensor have to read un-uccupied AND the door has to be closed for the light to shut off. And that's not even the end of it! These sensors are ONLY good if you walk directly past then and maybe up to like 5ft so on top of that you have to (do yourself a favor) and buy a Hues Outdoor motion sensor because THAT is a true motion sensor that works the way you expect it to. You set a timer for 5 min and then every time it sense motion it just keeps reseting that internal timer back to 5 minutes over and over again until you finally stop triggering it and time runs out then it shuts off the automation. Sorry this was a long explanation but it took me like 6 months of constant rearranging and changing automations back and forth untill I finally figured all this out the right way because there's nothing that explains it to anyone of you actually wanna keep the lights on while your working lol. Now in my garage alone I have 1 Smart switch 1 of these Aqara walk by sensors 1 contact sensor on the garge door (driveway) 1 contact sensor on the garge (to house) 1 contact sensor on the smgarage door (side) 1 Philips hue outdoor motion sensor to cover the entire garage (inside) 1 Philips hue outdoor sensor on the driveway (for outdoor lights too but also to keep the garage light on if I'm out in the driveway) Every one of those most be either in the closed or or non occupied state for the lights to finally run off So it's not one triggers and starts counting down, then the next trigger does exactly the same and so on otherwise you have the light turning off after 30 sec on for you to wave your arms to get it back on but in the meantime another trigger is secretly counting down and that mights take 2 minutes so you effectively have lights shouting off at all inconsistent random times. This way no timers are being counted it's just all most be verified off before finally shiting of the lights. You almost need a fckin degree for this sht lol THAT is what it takes to properly keep the garage lights on while you're working and of my rough math is working that's about $250 just in a smart switch and sensors So if you think you ever going to do that buy buying one of these motion sensors it's not happening You also have to use basically the same logic in bathrooms that have seperate toilet and closet areas It's all about triggering multiple state awareness then waiting Untill they all converge before something happens BTW if you're just going to get started buy purchasing one at a time, this isn't what you want. You want the Philips Hue motion sensors for in and outside because they actually reset the internal countdown like your brain assumes it should. Good luck 🤙🏻 ... show more

  • Fast response time
Style: Motion sensor P1
Works well and is very fast But I wish it could be more sensitive. Also, it'd be cool if the stand was magnetic on both sides to connect to the device and connect to a metal surface

  • Great little sensor.
Style: Motion sensor P1
Fast. Stable. Simple. Easy to connect. No cloud if you don't want it. I find the Lux sensors accurate enough to control lighting. The ping light is bright enough to cause a flash do you don't miss it if you need it and it's got great functionality. At about $20 it's a great buy. Smaller than you'd expect, it blends right in! ... show more

  • Bad design and defected detection range
Style: Motion sensor P1
Worst design ever! it claims to detect 7m, but turned out to be around 1m! Also the sticker is VERY VERY tight, with residues, AND battery change? no way! you have to take the whole thing off then change the battery. I'm returning it. Aqara contact sensor is perfect. but this? garbage! edited: the response is not too bad since i switched to zigbee2mqtt. It's more responsive! But the range still sucks especially at corners ... show more

  • Love Aqara smart devices!!
Style: Motion sensor P1
Great sensor to make your home smarter! I have other Aqara products and really like them all. This motion sensor is so incredibly fast to react. I have the Aqara H2 Hub, but I prefer to have my Amazon Echo make the announcements. Setting up the device is quick and easy. The instructions are great and easy to understand. It basically does everything for you. And of course, connecting to an Echo device is so simple. Great product and a good price. I couldn't recommend the Aqara motion sensor enough along with all their products. They seem seamlessly together and more importantly, work great with Echo devices! ... show more

  • Badly Designed, Steer Clear
Style: Motion sensor P1
I have had this device under 6 months and just like all of Aqaras other products, this thing is junk. It has fully locked up on me twice. It wouldn't respond to any button pushes no matter if they were clicks or hold or a pattern. This is twice in a month and I believe I have the 3rd now. The only way back to life is to get the bottom out is to pry. Literally says to pry. No screw cap, not screw hold down, no slide out cover. We get to pry out a shuttle that contains batteries. The back cover and the shuttle are all one piece, so you're prying the entire unit out. That's power reset. Breakage seems very foreseeable. Is there any QC or leadership in this company? Pry is a cheap choice. It's bad for consumers and manufacturers. I'm sure more than one customer will break this when prying. I've done enough that I'm starting to worry that I'm at the end of life of that plastic. You are advertising A+ hardware and selling D-. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it's been so many problems with just your stuff. My Amazon bulbs work My hue bulbs work My Kasa plugs work Alexa is very reliable to manage Roomba works via voice Cameras work Switchbots work Network hardware is always up Aqara, always a problem. I am replacing all the Aqara hardware in the house because it's just not worth it. This is the only manufacturer in the web of things that requires 100x more effort to keep running. ... show more
