The second we turn this light on we were blown away with the quality. It gives off a perfect film look. We immediately bought another one. It puts out a TON of light. The controls are easy to figure out/throttle the amount of light etc and it is very quick to set up and teardown. We also love how there is an attachment to hook the controller to the C stand/boom holding the light. It keeps everything nice and tight and organized instead of a bunch of stuff laying on the ground with cables attached to it. Definitely recommend the 300D IIs. Get this light!

If you get one light this is it. But... the only Improvement I would want would be, for it to be a bicolor light. Its in the works from what I hear.

This light is worth every penny. It’s the best light aputure has made and is built like a tank. Of course you buy this light to be bright.... and it’s pretty good at that, but i find myself using it A LOT at 1% because not many other lights can do that. Can’t wait to see what they offer next, but I’d sell my original 300D in a heartbeat for another one of these.

I currently own 1 original 120d, (2) 120D mk2, (3) 300d mk1, (2) 300d mk2. The Mark 2 version of the 300's are definitely worth the purchase if you need more punch than the 120 mk2 offers. The overall build quality and updates to the 300 mk2 make it head and shoulders a better purchase than the first version. Keep in mind these lights still aren't more powerful than a 1k tungsten or HMI but the power they pull from the wall is much less, and they are significantly more portable and versatile with a smaller footprint.

This was my first studio light I purchased, the 120dii followed as a fill/backlight. I love this light. If I could afford another one, I would get it in a heartbeat - and I'm looking at possibly doing that. I love that you can clip the power box to the C stand, over the ones before that just dangle. The light is brighter, but usually I find myself using a much much lower power. There are a lot of fun presets like lightning and strobes. They are fun, but a little specific, which I'm hoping to use them for something someday. The case is heavy duty and about 1/3 larger than the 120d ii case. It fits the light, cords and what it came with, but don't plan on packing the case with much more. I try to make use of all available space, but these Aputure cases have as much room as what it includes, which is fine. along with tossing maybe an extra camera battery or a few cords in the side pockets. The power box has a battery spot, which I've yet to use. This one has two battery slots. My understanding is that you can use one battery, but the power will be less than utilizing both slots. V mount batteries seems like the more versatile and widely used battery among more equipment, but I've had issues with them just popping off or not clipping in right - even falling to the floor and cracking the corner. Gold Mount has one major manufacturer so they seem to control the pricing and options. They are harder to get on and off, but that may be a plus in terms of staying on the mount. The cords are heavy duty and they seem like production cords. Nice and thick. One of the things I love most about this light is how the cords feel and attach. They are great and shows that Aputure didn't cut corners. Cords seem to get the last thought, but if this was the last thought, it looks like they covered every angle on this to make it a really stand out light. Overall, fantastic light. I suggest getting the Dome Light Mini ii with it. It is my favorite softbox, with minor flaws but great pairing. EclipticMediaPhoto.net
