  • DEFINITELY worth the money!
Apple products are lauded as being overpriced and, even though I am an avid Apple user, I will admit to regularly researching other brands when I'm in need of peripherals...such as monitors, keyboards, mice, and the like. I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro and decided to pair it with a highly recommended Logitech keyboard and mouse set (as opposed to the Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse which were twice as expensive). Now, before I go any further, let me say that Logitech makes a great product. I've used several of their combos over the years and have been satisfied. Let me also say that I have a somewhat complicated setup involving several screens, peripherals, and an iPad as a sidecar as I work in the music industry. The Logitech keyboard and mouse paired easily. However, there was a constant lag when in use as the keyboard and mouse randomly seemed to go to "sleep". I would have to tap a key on the keyboard (or shuffle the mouse) several times to get it to wake up. This was the first time I experienced this with a Logictech setup so I looked online and I found that others were experiencing the same thing. The consensus was to get an Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse. So, after reading a few more user testimonials, I decided to take the plunge and snag the Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Once you take it out of the box, you charge it by plugging it in to either your computer or an outlet (they use the same lightening system that iPhones and iPads do). Once they are charged, you fire up your MacBook, make sure your keyboard and mouse are on, plug them in to your MacBook (via the lightening connector) and presto, the Mac instantly recognizes the devices and puts them to use. NOTE: you only have to plug them into the computer the first time you use them. The Mac will add them to the bluetooth itinerary. After that, the computer will recognize and engage them whenever you decide to turn them on. Using these products are a dream! The connectivity is so seamless, it actually feels like you are typing on the Macbook keyboard itself, not a bluetooth device. Response is always quick and crisp, and it's an added bonus that you get all of the "function" keys being that it's an Apple product (as opposed to a "universal" device that to be used with both Windows and Mac OS). The mouse behaves just as wonderfully and I love all of the extra customization options (for example you get left/right click, tap, double tap, zoom, scroll in and out, swipe page, scoll up and down all by finger gestures on the top of the mouse...it's like a trackpad and mouse all in one)! I will also say that I keep long hours but, even after having these products for about 10 hours a day over the last month, they are still going strong on my first battery charge. If there is any downside, it would be the learning curve. The Magic Keyboard is EXTREMELY thin. It looks sexy and, as such, it makes your desk space look sexy...but the key travel is very small. It takes a minute to get used to typing on it. It's a similar experience with the mouse. It's extremely thin with a glass surface (the entire top surface basically being an active trigger). It took me a minute to get used to holding it and placing my fingers in a place that won't trigger any commands. However, once you do, it's amazing because there is so much you can do with it. It has cut my editing time in half (I primarily use Apple Logic) as there is so much I can do with tapping, double tapping, and swiping, on top of the scrolling functions. I don't want to use any other mouse now. Both products feel solid in build and you definitely get the impression you are using quality product when you are using them. I give the Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse a 5 star rating. Straight out of the box, it was easy to get up and going, and it has made my production life easier while giving me some of that Apple "sexy" at the same time. If you are in the market for a keyboard and mouse for your Mac, I would encourage you to give these a SERIOUS look. ... show more

  • The best keyboard ever made, available again? Christmas came early in 2024!
I've been carrying on, talking people's ears off for years about how good the Apple keyboards are. I'm a PC user but this is still the only keyboard I use. This is now my 4th copy and I intend to buy one per week until they're exhausted because I don't believe Apple will ever make these again despite the massive demand for them. What I'd really like is a modern keyboard with backlit keys but Apple will never do that. If you're an IT type of person, information worker, and type all day long, you'll never find a better keyboard. The super slim height of the keys will allow you to fly across it while maintaining accuracy. It's simply the best keyboard on the planet! For a PC you need to pair it with Magic Utilities to monitor battery level and map the additional keys, but it's worth it. I'll never use another keyboard until Apple makes a better one, but I just don't think that's EVER going to happen. So I'll buy all these I can afford. ... show more

  • Phenomenal typing experience, but expensive!
So I got this as a refurb versus new, which saved a little bit of money (like $40). This is the best keyboard I have ever typed on and I find when I switch back to my laptop keyboard on my MBP or a computer at work I find myself wishing I had this keyboard everywhere. It feels incredibly well made, I like the power switch being including, and the included USB - lightning cable included which also syncs the bluetooth automatically when plugged in. Was incredibly easy to get up and running as a result! If you have an apple computer that you use at home or work and need/want a wireless keyboard, you can't get one better than this in my opinion. The only thing about the keyboard I wish was different was that it had a better battery life, this lasts for a couple months on a charge (depending on use) and that's with never turning it off. If you turn it off every night or when not it use it would probably last a little longer but doubt it will be an extreme amount of difference. That said since it stays on my desk it is very easy to just plug it into one of my thunderbolt displays or iMac when it needs a little more juice. ... show more

  • Very good!
I remember asking an employee at Best Buy whether I could use this keyboard on a Windows 10 system. He said it wouldn’t work because it would disconnect frequently, that “Windows and Apple products generally don’t go together”. I’ve been using the Magic Keyboard with my Surface Laptop 3 via bluetooth, and in this context, he’s absolutely wrong. For as long as I’ve been using the magic keyboard, I’ve not experienced any disconnecting between it and my computer. It’s noticeably quieter than is my mechanical keyboard (Keychron K1), and it delivers an exceptional typing experience wherein little force is needed to input a key. Some things to note about this keyboard (while using it on Windows 10): - The Windows functions requiring the FN key will not work. I tried fixing this inconvenience using Sharpkeys but to no avail - The CMD key works as the Windows key - If you want to access “Alt + ctrl + del” using this keyboard, perform “ctrl + option + delete” The build quality is perfect. I did not see any scratches or fading on the keys. It looks good as new, also it’s very light. To summarize, the keyboard is very good for what it's worth. I didn’t run into any software problems between it and WindowsOS, and this is without any 3rd party software. To those who are wondering whether you should buy it for your Windows 10 system, I would recommend it, at the cost of some keyboard FN functions of course. ... show more
