I am giving it one star because it did initially work when the product was delivered in July of 2024. Within two months the screen turned black. My daughter was using the product for college and she was away in another state. We did purchase the Asurion protection plan but my daughter was unsure how to use it correctly and as I was not there to help her so she waited another month and a half to get it fixed when she came home for break. During that time the MacBook was unusable. In December I sent the item away to be fixed. The item was returned to her a couple of weeks later at her university. That was the second week of January 2025. She came home for spring break in March and while she was home the screen began to turn black again. She also informed me that the laptop was running very hot. I again contacted Asurion but at this time I was just looking for a refund of my $429. I was told that an item had to have the same defect 4 times because I could seek a refund. I explained that my daughter had major time constraints with this instance and waiting 2/3 weeks for the item to be fixed was not an option. We took it to a nearby repair shop that is sponsored by Asurion where we were given an estimate of $471 which is more than I paid for the product. I was told that I could pay to have it repaired and then be reimbursed but aside from not living that option the screen would take a week to come in and then a few days after that to be fixed. I should also state that the estimate also included fixing the overheating problem. I reached out to Amazon but because it was more than 90 days removed from the purchase they couldn’t do anything for me. Originally, I did have a customer service representative tell me I should not worry that I would be getting a refund but the next day I received an email stating that my claim had been denied. I also reached out to the third party seller and they never responded to my message. I did try Asurion one more time with a copy of the estimate trying to please my case that I just want a refund since the original payment is less than the cost of the repair. This whole process has eaten up hours over several days of speaking with countless representatives. I felt like there was no one that truly understood my problem and how I only wanted to be made whole with this defective product. ... show more

This is the first Mac I've ever owned and coming from Windows there was a bit of a learning curve. However, after a few days of use and exploration I'm extremely pleased with the integration with my iPhone and Airpods. The Macbook itself is in basically perfect condition, the only flaws I have found is a scuffed up S key and all keys are a bit worn out on the surface but function normally. Other than those two things, there are no scratches or imperfections to the laptop's exterior. The only cons I have found so far is that I occasionally hit the touch bar when typing and accidentally turn my music up too loud or mute it. Also, at first the battery life was a bit underwhelming but after some tweaking I think I have fixed it (Turning low power mdoe to be on all the time). Today I charged the Macbook to 100% and have been doing light browsing on Chrome and have lost 7%. To be fair, some more battery life could be saved if I used Safari as it is more optimized for Mac's and isn't as big of a resource hog as Chrome is. Edit*: Forgot to add this in my original review but the macbook didn't come in its original box, it was only wrapped in bubble wrap. Luckily, it did not come damaged. It is really good! it’s everything i needed all in one place! I work at a school but i also help take care of my mom so i need to be able to see my text messages if she texts or anything so it definitely helps with that! it was easy and the keyboard is perfect. There were a few keys that looked like they had been touched up but it’s okay! i got a $900 macbook for $300 can’t complain! My charger didn’t work though i had to use my ipad’s charger. other than that… Perf!! ... show more

I purchased this MacBook to help complete normal tasks like creating documents, browsing the internet and watching YouTube. Over the first few weeks I noticed the fan cooling the computer was a bit louder than expected but i thought to myself, it's a used computer, it's not going to be perfect. As the weeks and months go on I found the computer working REALLY hard when only a few separate programs were running. Then shortly after, the battery would last less than two hours before needing to get plugged in again. It has been less than 6 months since receiving this computer and I am basically tethered to a plug and have to keep my patience when a multiple programs are running at the same time. The return/warranty window was 90 days and being just outside of that, they are not interested in helping me exchange this for something at equal value - even though the product is clearly at the end of its life. I am not one to write reviews (positive or negative) but I don't want anyone else making the same mistake as me. If you plan to buy a "Renewed Product" either prepare to suffer or plan to return/exchange before that 90 day window closes so you're not stuck in the same situation as me. If the seller sees this and would like to offer an exchange, I'll happily change my review, otherwise I would avoid these used products. ... show more
