The MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.8 13-Inch (Mid-2014 Retina Display) features a 22 nm "Haswell" 2.8 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor (4308U), with dual independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 3 MB shared level 3 cache, 8 GB of onboard 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (which could be upgraded to 16 GB at the time of purchase, but cannot be upgraded later), 512 GB of PCIe-based flash storage, and an integrated Intel Iris 5100 graphics processor that shares memory with the system. It also has an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam, and a high-resolution LED-backlit 13.3" widescreen 2560x1600 (227 ppi) "Retina" display in a case that weighs just less than 3.5 pounds (1.57 kg). It does not have an internal optical drive. Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, two "Thunderbolt 2" ports, an HDMI port, an audio in/out port, and an SDXC card slot. In addition, this model has a backlit keyboard, a "no button" glass "inertial" multi-touch trackpad, a "MagSafe 2" power adapter, and an internal, sealed battery that provides an Apple estimated 9 hours of battery life.

Worked fine initially, though the battery life wasn’t great. Had to file a claim with warranty due to screen greening and trackpad not working, and come to find out Apple does not cover because it is 10 years old! Asurion has vowed to cover anyway under the 2 year package I purchased, but it would’ve been nice to know I was buying a 10 year old laptop ... show more

The laptop's performance and speed so far seems fine. It's my first-ever Mac after a lifetime of being a Windows person, so I'm still learning my way around (hint: a print manual would really help). But so far, I have yet to acquire the unbridled enthusiasm of every Mac user I've ever talked to. Maybe it's because the interface is still so foreign to me. Two things that disappointed me straightaway: This is likely a feature of the fact that it's refurbished, but I find it to have poor battery life compared to my HP which I bought it to replace. The battery is only good for a couple of hours. I would expect better from a Mac. Secondly, I expected the screen to be wider. I have not measured it but it does not seem as wide as advertised, and it is smaller than my HP screen, which is disappointing. These are not things that I am going to return it for, as long as the performance continues to be good. But I find myself still falling back on my measly, low-performing 4 MG-RAM HP to do a lot of stuff, which kind of says something. For now at least, it's the devil I know. UPDATE: I have removed a star. Eight months after writing the above review, I completely regret this purchase and wish I had purchased a Windows-compatible PC. All I have really been able to use it for are video calls and Web surfing. I discovered that because the OS is Big Sur 11.7, it cannot run Microsoft Office for Mac, which appears to require 12.0. I found that out when I downloaded the software and tried to open it. Not only that, but this laptop does not allow download of any other Mac OS like Monterey which is 12.0 and above and could run the software. And, no go when I tried to install Office from a disc I had. It doesn't allow that either. AND, I couldn't even download Apple's own version of Word, called Pages, because that requires 13.0 OS. I can't describe all the frustration I've had since buying this laptop. You get what you pay for, and I guess when you pay 300 bucks for a Mac this is what you're going to get. ... show more

came with the display completely black, the voiceover was the only thing you could hear , I litteraly have to get the display fixed , do not buy this computer .
