  • Great tool but this one arrived out of calibration.
I have used the same tool with great results but the one I just received arrived out of calibration. The description says it is calibrated for thousands of cinch crimps so I returned this one. That is more than I will EVER do and I did not want to chance trying to calibrate it since I have never done that. I am sure this one was a fluke. I'd give 5 stars for one that is calibrated and think it is probably rare for one to arrive not calibrated but don't ASSUME it is. They supply a gauge and one end is supposed to fit between the jaws when the crimp complete LED turns ON but the other end of the gauge is NOT. On the one I just received BOTH ends of the gauge fit between the jaws meaning it it not crimping enough. They supply an allen wrench for adjustment but my feeling is a new tool that claims to be calibrated should be. ... show more

  • NOT a one hand tool.
This Apollo PEX One Hand Cinch Clamp Tool is much easier to cinch a clamp than a typical long handle clamp tool but, despite claiming to be a one hand tool, it is not. The ratcheting action and shorter handles make it easier to get into tight places and cinch a clamp using one hand. However, once cinched, you must use two hands to release the tool from the clamp. This tool could be a one hand operation if they incorporated a trigger or other releasing mechanism but as is, you must hold the tool with one hand and turn a knob with the other to release the tool from the clamp. I still prefer this tool over the typical clamp tool because it's easier to cinch a clamp but I do foresee the advantage of being smaller negated by the need to use two hands to release the tool from the clamp. ... show more

  • Crimps fine and easy to use if you are an NBA basketball player.
this is a ratcheting crimper, so it takes less effort and more squeezes to make the crimp. The Good: 1. I was able to complete the job I bought it for, making about 50 pex connections 2. When the blue light comes on, the crimp is good. The Bad: if you squeeze any bit beyond when the blue light comes on, the mechanism gets stuck and takes some fiddling to get the jaws open again. The Obvious: I have average sized hands and the amount this has to open to start squeezing again makes it near impossible to use one handed, especially in close quarters. ... show more

  • Of all the pex tools this design is far superior than others
These are amazing. It baffles me they don't sell these in the store. Every now and again I've seen some in home depot but I've never found them at any specialty plumbing store onr at Lowes or Menards. Due to their ratcheting feature and small design these can get into smaller spaces compared to other pex tool. Plus in a pinch can be used one handed. (I'm not the strongest and two hands works better for me). The pex clamps are easier to get in the right spot and have less leaking issues than the pex rings. I highly suggest these and wont buy any other style. I've only ever owned two of this apollo brand. I've seen another brand floating out there but can't speak for it. ... show more

  • Best crimp ring tool
I got this to use on 1” pex rings. I’m not disappointed. Easy one hand start. Led is great to let you know when finished.

  • Works Well Under 3/4"
Rachel action makes cinching on1/2" easy & a little more effort to do 3/4" . However, 1" needs a younger man than me as it takes considerably more force. Add on a short length of PVC pipe to the handles will increase the leverage and get the job done. But if you have any quality of 1" I would most definitely recommend the new Ryobi battery powered chinch tool. A six year old could make a perfect connection with the Ryobi tool. ... show more
