The first jam x I ordered was defective however I did purchase mine very soon after launch so it may just be a case of early adopter issues. Once I got the replacement I was shocked. This thing is awesome. I've put probably 30 hours through it this week and I've switched to it for my main interface. I have a scarlet solo and an audient id4. I've been maining the audient for the last year. If I had to tell you which has a better quality between the jam x and the id4 it would be tough, but the jam x has one major advantage, the analog compressor. I run several neural dsp plug-ins regularly and the jamx just makes things so much easier. All 3 presets are awesome, I can find a use for atleast 1 of the 3 in any of the tones I've used. Additionally, while I was having issues with my first jamx apogee support was fast in replying to my messages within 24 hours, they gave me good instructions and screenshots to troubleshoot things. If your on the fence thinking about buying this or not, give it a try it will surprise you.

The sound quality I get from this interface is absolute garbage! Wondering if I got a chinese clone or if it's just that bad. The button doesn't seem to actually do anything aside from make lights flash and the volume input level has no tactile or otherwise way of knowing what level you are at so good luck trying to dial in the right input level. What a total waste of money.

This is such a great and portable interface for my Guitars, The sound is so clear, and the compression really helps bring out the tonal characteristics of my guitars . It’s inspiring using the Archetype Tim Henson plugin as a standalone plugin. Now I can jam and sound awesome at the same time!

For a mobile audio input device, this is great. Keep in mind, right off the bat that this is for SINGLE instrument input. And mostly intended for use with a laptop I would guess. And for that use it has been spectacular! Simply insert into USB slot, Windows native drivers pick it up. Remember you may need to look in your audio devices if you want to switch back and forth from Zoom audio to your normal audio. The Zoom driver will take over the audio. (Sometimes you may want to switch back to your native audio.) I am using windows 10 with all the automatic updates. I had no issues at all. One feature that I really like is that it has it's own compression settings on the device. Sounds like no big deal, but it is VERY helpful, especially with a bass guitar being used. In and of itself there is nothing else you need to do. Just plug and play. You can use the headphone jack on the device or output to external speakers. But you also need good, fairly lightweight audio software. And it comes with a lite version Ableton Live 11 DAW. This has been great. My CUBASE is to heavy for the laptop. Never works very well. (Works great on the desktop computer though.) But the Ableton DAW makes using the Zoom a simple thing. You need to register with Apogee and get a serial number for Live 11 DAW. Apogee took care of that quickly, sent me a serial number and everything went without any trouble using the serial number with the Ableton registration. Live 11 installed without any problems. It runs smoothly and doesn't suck up all my laptop resources and so far no latency issues. Hey, I expected nothing but problems, that's usually the case. But the computer, the software and hardware all play nicely together. The Apogee zoom is not the least expensive input device out there, for sure. But the ADAC's are just so beautifully clear. Apogee is a high end digital plugin and device manufacturer and usually are at the NAMM conventions. So you know they are a serious audio product manufacturer. And even though this is a just small audio input device, there is no exception to the quality. You can find some videos for Apogee and Zoom from NAMM 2023 on YouTube for an even more detailed look. While I am not a huge digital fan for final recording, I use analog. But for practicing and developing different parts on a laptop. This is a highly superior input device and worth a few extra bucks.
