New beekeepers need all the help we can get. Anything we can do to help minimize the time we need to open our bee hives, the better. Easily spotting our queens is one of the more challenging aspects of checking on bees. The quicker we can id the queen, the quicker we can let the bees get back to doing what bees do without upsetting the hive. Full disclosure, I needed help catching my queen, but the included tools in this kit, made that a snap in the hands of a seasoned beekeeper. Having seen the process has given me confidence that this kit is all I'll need. It safely and gently handles the queen. The multiple colors will come in handy as I add more hives and queens. I gave this to a friend who has over 50 hives on her property. She highly recommends the queen clips, if you're not used to marking your queens by hand. "The marking pens work really well; personally I prefer neon colors as they are easier to spot in the hive but these pens are great and will do the job." ... show more
