  • best CB radio ever.... it's an ok ham radio
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
this is one GREAT RADIO! I have talked all over the world with this radio... very powerful it has great ears and receives fantastic! ... it has the "NRC" Noise reduction technology that is now a total game changer in the radio world, NRC came out in 2022. it removes most of the background noise so you can hear what people are saying even from very far away.... with all the background noise/static/hiss you can hardly hear anything... turn on the NRC and the hiss is gone and you just hear the people you want to talk to... and with 60 watts you can easily talk to them!!!! I have talked to France from Massachusetts with the NRC on...if I turn the NRC off all I hear is static.... so as I said it's a total game changer! even talking to low powered CB's that have a cheap antenna from far away i'm able to make out what they say with the NRC. it also has weather channels. and all the needed dials are still right on the front easily adjusted. for a CB you do an easy modification that you can see on youtube... it's the best CB ever!!!! as for a ham radio it's an entry radio into ham.... so most people use them as a CB. you really can't go wrong with this radio. ... show more

  • Still love CB!
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
Great radio and easy to mod so it works on 10, 11 and 12. Cut the white wire, move the black jumper to the back pins furthest from the front. Simple. Plenty of reviews on this radio online so I won’t bore anyone with that and instead bore you with the following… I started out with an old realistic CB from Radio Shack in high school talking with friends and graduated to various cobra 29s then to Presidents and now my first Anytone 10 meter. More people should get into CB radio (radio period) but I guess not talking to anyone in a world of 8 billion people is fine too. ... show more

  • Satisfied with the Anytone 5555n
I decided to go with the quad5n instead of the quad5nii. Mainly because of the price point. When it first arrived before opening the package it was rattling inside the box which caused some concerns. I carefully open the box examined the radio and noticed some screws in the box and something inside the radio was loose. I opened the radio and discovered that the speaker was not screwd in. So I screwed the speaker back into place and turned on the radio; all worked fine. Tested the frequencies that came as the standard 10 meters. I decided to mode the radio to open up the bands to include 11 meters. It took literally seconds!! Did a quick solder bridge to OP1 on the board. Before doing this, I looked up tips on how to do a clean solder on YouTube and bought a cheap solder kit on Amazon. It now works on 11 meters and all bands from A through J. Made my first contact with Jamaica on 27.5150 LSB. So far good report. Not too much propagation happening right now but did hear the super bowl channel so there's some activity happening on the bands. Im taking my technicians license next month so will be ready to talk on 10 meters very soon. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I would highly recommend this radio if you're on a budget like me. ... show more

  • Excellent, CB radio for the price
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
I have a couple of people in my local area that have this same radio, and they sang its praises so I got one and I’m extremely happy that I did because I have heard everyone complain about the other radios that they’ve had, but none of them have had any issue with the quad Five. It’s a pretty elegant looking machine and it’s menu driven so if not a whole slew of buttons and switches that can get accidentally knocked or hit. The display is clear and can be seen from almost any angle and it gives you a lot of information. The nicest thing at this radio has is an actual SWR gauge on the screen that is active all the time so you don’t have to go into the menu to check your SWR. The transmit and receive clarity are also very good on this radio. I have demoed a QT 40 radio and well that one sounds a bit nicer. The operation of it feels less streamlined unit not to mention this one puts out more power at around 40 to 50 W so if you pair it with a quality antenna and get your SWR set correctly, you should be able to talk overseas when weather conditions are right amplification necessary. The only reason I didn’t give it. Five stars is that I’m not thrilled about is the connector that they use for the Microphone, which it can be replaced with any cat 6 Cable fairly easily but it’s annoying that it doesn’t have a universal for pin connector to be able to swap with other radios but thankfully the microphone sounds pretty good and works well, but you have to get replacements from AliExpress for this radio the mic or to break that or you would need to know how to solder and work with electrical components. Overall, I would definitely consider getting this radio again and if it weren’t for the annoying proprietary microphone cable, I would say this is the perfect radio for the price so hopefully they’ll update it with a Four pin microphone jack. ... show more

  • Great radio super easy to use
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
Had to get a replacement radio for my new truck as my Ranger would not fit. The Anytone 5555 is the same size format as a Cobra or Uniden CB - so if you are constrained by the width size as I was then you shouldn't have any problems with the Anytone 5555. It is super easy to convert to 11 meter. There are numerous vids on how to do it and the mod does not take any tech skill. I did the mod in less than 20 minutes. Hooked up radio - works just fine. The menu is a little difficult to figure out but there is really no reason to go into it other than to enable the Weather Alert notifications. I didn't have any issues with SWR - didn't really need calibration. I did a few test calls and was able to reach out 50+ miles with no problems. 10 meter will take a little more work with the noise gate and clarification. Overall I am very happy with this radio and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a 10 meter high power radio that can easily be modded into the 11 meter band. ... show more
