  • best CB radio ever.... it's an ok ham radio
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
this is one GREAT RADIO! I have talked all over the world with this radio... very powerful it has great ears and receives fantastic! ... it has the "NRC" Noise reduction technology that is now a total game changer in the radio world, NRC came out in 2022. it removes most of the background noise so you can hear what people are saying even from very far away.... with all the background noise/static/hiss you can hardly hear anything... turn on the NRC and the hiss is gone and you just hear the people you want to talk to... and with 60 watts you can easily talk to them!!!! I have talked to France from Massachusetts with the NRC on...if I turn the NRC off all I hear is static.... so as I said it's a total game changer! even talking to low powered CB's that have a cheap antenna from far away i'm able to make out what they say with the NRC. it also has weather channels. and all the needed dials are still right on the front easily adjusted. for a CB you do an easy modification that you can see on youtube... it's the best CB ever!!!! as for a ham radio it's an entry radio into ham.... so most people use them as a CB. you really can't go wrong with this radio. ... show more

  • Good for the price.
Very easy conversion to 11M. Full coverage with continuous tuning, (you don't have to switch bands to go up or down outside of the band you are currently on, just turn the channel / frequency knob). Power out was a little less than advertised, but not a big difference. Modulation needed tweaking up a bit too. Full featured radio that has a quality feel to it. Receive is not noisy or too "hot". Receives as good as any other radio I have in my extensive arsenal. Display is easy to read and using the controls is easy once you know what does what. The Chinese owners manual is in Engrish.....meaning there are good deal of Chinese / English translation issues. They still get their point across but really.....what would it take to have a real Native ENGLISH person review it before print? Audio output is not the best among all my radios.....but certainly acceptable for the price-point this radio is at. If you are looking for a cool export radio at a decent price then I'd say this is a good choice amongst the dozens out on the market today. Time will tell how long-lived the radio is. There are no schematics anywhere to be found......but hey, with all the SMT in the thing I'm not sure its too repairable anyway ! ! ... show more

  • Excellent, CB radio for the price
Style: AT-5555N II with CTCSS/DCS
I have a couple of people in my local area that have this same radio, and they sang its praises so I got one and I’m extremely happy that I did because I have heard everyone complain about the other radios that they’ve had, but none of them have had any issue with the quad Five. It’s a pretty elegant looking machine and it’s menu driven so if not a whole slew of buttons and switches that can get accidentally knocked or hit. The display is clear and can be seen from almost any angle and it gives you a lot of information. The nicest thing at this radio has is an actual SWR gauge on the screen that is active all the time so you don’t have to go into the menu to check your SWR. The transmit and receive clarity are also very good on this radio. I have demoed a QT 40 radio and well that one sounds a bit nicer. The operation of it feels less streamlined unit not to mention this one puts out more power at around 40 to 50 W so if you pair it with a quality antenna and get your SWR set correctly, you should be able to talk overseas when weather conditions are right amplification necessary. The only reason I didn’t give it. Five stars is that I’m not thrilled about is the connector that they use for the Microphone, which it can be replaced with any cat 6 Cable fairly easily but it’s annoying that it doesn’t have a universal for pin connector to be able to swap with other radios but thankfully the microphone sounds pretty good and works well, but you have to get replacements from AliExpress for this radio the mic or to break that or you would need to know how to solder and work with electrical components. Overall, I would definitely consider getting this radio again and if it weren’t for the annoying proprietary microphone cable, I would say this is the perfect radio for the price so hopefully they’ll update it with a Four pin microphone jack. ... show more

  • The AT-5555NII might very well be the best CB/10 meter radio you can currently buy
The new AT-5555NII might very well be the ultimate CB/10 meter radio. The receiver is excellent in all modes, and modulation is great, also in FM. It puts out a whopping 70 watts in factory condition, so no "tune ups" are needed (in fact, it can't be "tuned", all adjustments are done in software, no trim-pots in this radio). OK it is Chinese made, but the construction and workmanship are excellent, as good as any Japanese radio I would say, if not better. Electrically some improvements were implemented by Anytone over the old model. Foremost, the sideband (BFO) oscillator is now done using a PLL circuit, thus no crystal shifting like the old model which is prone to frequency drift. Not so in this radio. As a result of the BFO PLL, this radio is rock-stable and frequency accurate. As an example, it only showed a 10 Hz error on the HP counter, which is an accuracy on par with much more expensive ham radios. The AT-5555NII also has DSP processing in the IF stages, and a digital noise reducer, something I haven't seen before on this type of CB/10 meter radios. It is easily frequency expanded, and if you do, it also covers the 12 meter amateur band (expanded it covers 24.5 MHz to 30.5 MHz) The receiver RF input stage is designed with broadband transformers, therefore there is no sensitivity change in the receiver regardless what frequency you set it at. I took the risk and bought mine directly from China. I would have bought it from amazon if I could (the $20 price difference is not that big of a deal when you are covered by Prime) but Amazon wasn't carrying the AT-5555NII yet when I bought this some months ago. To summarize: Definitely a purchase I can recommend. ... show more
