Top Amazon Reviews

  • This review is for the noobs and parents trying to be cool
I had zero experience 3D printing before buying this. I was told by a friend that getting an auto leveler would be best and MAN IS IT. This is a great printer. Pretty idiot proof lol. SET UP: super easy and very clear instructions. If your printer turns on but the screen does not work, you just have to switch the voltage (w/e it’s called) for the power. Save you some googling there lol. The Z-offset will be crucial and sometimes takes some adjusting. Mine lives at about -0.85 so don’t be scared to adjust it. PRINTING: It comes with a tiny memory card and USB stick. Here’s how you print after you’ve done the owl test print. - Put memory card in usb and plug into computer - Open a file sharing 3D model site such printables(dot)com and search through things you’d like to print. I’d recommend reviewing how many files before clicking download all as some are different sizes or interchangeable options. This printer uses g code so any file like that should be ready to print. However, most files are in STL (I’m a noob, idk what printers use that lol). - Once g codes are downloaded, just drag and drop to your usb memory stick - (skip if downloaded g codes) If you downloaded another file type, you will have to splice it. You can do so by downloading a program called Ultimaker Cura and opening the file in there. You can duplicate, adjust size, add supports, adjust filament fill, etc. but most importantly, change to g code. This will take some getting used to but it’ll work. - Once usb is loaded up and properly ejected (right click usb and click eject), put the memory stick back in the printer. - Turn on and start printing! Recommendations: as you are getting the hang of printing, always hang out at the beginning so you can make sure it’s printing well. Any files that you don’t manually splice may not come with supports so if it prints badly, it’s probably the file #wallewithpot2023 lol. You can adjust the z-offset while printing and it’ll help if it’s not looking right. PROS: ease of use, auto level, ease of setup, prints great, display shows percentage completed CONS: does not connect to a phone app, uses a lesser common file type (but able to reconfigure), doesn’t connect directly to computer unless you buy a cable BEST FILAMENT: Anykubic sells a rainbow filament for this printer and it’s GORGEOUS (see photo of dragon). We have also tried another brand that’s blue on one side and green on the other. Print on that is hit or miss but looked great on a fidget. ... show more

  • A fantastic quality printer that deserves high praise for the price.
The Mega X definitely blew away my expectations. The assembly process is extremly easy, it comes in two parts: the base, and the carriage. All you have to do is put in about 8-10 screws, plug in about 4 connectors, and level the bed. It took me less than an hour to get this thing printing. It's an impressive design. The design is robust and of high quality with dual lead screw z axis providing greater stability and precison and the solid base and y axis design allowing compactness. The touchscreen UI is very easy to use and navigate, leveling the bed is relativly easy (I use a dial indicator, but the paper method is usually fine). Overall build and material screams high quality since there aren't many plastic components to this printer. The ultra base is like magic, no glue or hairspray required since it's textured glass. I didn't have a single issue with prints not sticking to the bed. Initial reaction: The sample file the printer comes with seems off in code because it has a egregious amount of stringing, however, using the Cura slicer, it is easily fixable. My first major print was the Halo sign I got from Thingiverse, took about 22 hours, and it came out EXTREMELY well, the layers came out smooth and the art/contours well detailed. The UNSC sign and Baby Yoda came out just as well, with both of those made from Silk Silver PLA (made by ttyl). Lastly, the 3D bench was the first test print I made, and while I didn't have the most recent benchy on hand, the comparison between the one in the picture and the other prints speak well. Additionally, I have printed functional parts like gears, slotted mechanisms, etc.. and dimensionally speaking, it has turned out almost perfect parts (+/- 0.008 in.). Issues: From the 3 odd months I've had this printer, there hasn't been any major issues. There was a time where the hot end broke the nozzle off when I went to replace it with a .15mm nozzle. But I contacted anycubic, and they were extremely quick to send me a replacement. Another issue is that the z axis limit switch lever broke off during leveling. Again, I contacted anycubic and they were quick to send out a replacement. Bottom line, if there are ANY issues, you can contact anycubic and they will help you to the best of their ability. By the way, there is very little language barrier when I emailed them, so thats a plus. Overall, I would VERY much like to see more support towards modifications of these products like some other manufacturers. Especially for things like auto bed leveling (ex: BL Touch) and firmware updates, etc.. In any case, it's a fantastic product, and I will definitely look towards Anycubic's printers when I buy my next set of printers. ... show more
