    • Really good Cigar Humidor and excellent customer service.
I set up the Cigar Cooler/Humidor after seasoning the Spanish cedar wood shelves as is appropriate. I set the temp and humidity then let it run a couple days before loading it with cigars. It has been working great though it has only been a few days so I cannot provide a long term assessment. The only issues One should be aware of are that the manual is a little lacking in detail and not precise do to translation issues and the unit humidity requires using a separate monitor to adjust to the desired level. When set for 70% RH it wound up at a higher RH but turning it down and monitoring it with a separate unit allowed me to get the RH to where I desired. The cooler/heater as it is a unit that tries to keep the temperature at the set level wether it is hotter or colder in the location where the unit is set up has been working great. I actually ordered the RMYHOME 24” unit through Amazon but was sent this one. Obviously I was initially unhappy about not receiving what I had ordered. I contacted the seller through Amazon Marketplace and they assured me the units where the same just under different names. They look identical. I still was not 100% on board but asked to speak with someone about the matter. We set a day and time frame for them to call me and they did as agreed. After coming to an understanding on the issue of receiving the different unit I kept the Antarctic Star and have sent the letter that follows via email to the seller through Amazon Market Place. Thank you TDream and all involved with resolving my issue. I do not know how to spell the representative’s name who I spoke with but do want to acknowledge that he was excellent to work with to resolve my matter. Amazon has also notified me of the partial refund as agreed in our discussion. I truly appreciate how you handled the issue with my Cigar Humidor Cooler. Very professional. You telephoned me as agreed and you were understanding courteous and very reasonable in dealing with our issue. I will be writing a review as discussed. I also authorize you to post a copy of this email letter (without displaying any email address) In closing this review I must say that the company representative deserves a lot of praise and a pay raise for how he handled the matter with me. Purchased from another retailer (not through amazon). Multiple issues with the unit which have also been reported by other owners as well. Note: I use multiple calibrated temp and humidity sensors throughout the unit for over a month to verify data listed below. 1. Humidity not equal - up to 10% variation from bottom to top of unit. 2. Humidity unstable - up to 15% variation in humidity range at any level over several hours. 3. Defroster issue - the unit has a defrost mode that comes on every 4 hours, this drives humidity ski high and is the main issue with the 15% humidity variation. Not sure why the defroster even is needed. The unit temp ranges from 63-70. It appears this function isn't working correctly. 4. Reservoir drainage bowl - this is located on the back of the unit and is not meant to be removed. However, during the repeated defrost mode, this unit collect lots of access water and fills this bowl. Because of this, the water fill the bowl and over flow onto the floor. Obviously, this isn't suppose to happen, but due to the malfunction it is another secondary issue. 5. Temp range - unstable as well. I set the unit temp at 70 and my house temp is 73. Unit is stored in a stable room for temp as well, little to no variation. The unit shouldn't have a 7 degree variation. 6. Calibrating the humidity - you can increase or decrease the humidity calibration by 1% at a time. However, after adjusting, the change made isn't reflected on the main display screen. So if you start with 69% and increase by 2%, the unit still says 69%. 7. Calibrating the temp - the instructions say you can adjust the temp. However, this is either a lie or the unit is broken since the option isn't available when you're on the adjustment screen. 8. Customer service - the owners manual instructs you to contact a listed phone number for service and to not return back to retailer. However, when you contact you can only leave a message and nobody will answer. However, they will contact you be text and will only attempt to help you if you purchased your unit through amazon despite the owners manual stating to contact them. I've reached out to R.W. Flame (retailer where I purchase) for assistance but they have yet to respond. So, it's your money, but I would avoid purchasing this unit. It appears they just took a wine cooler and added humidity and heat options, but didn't bother to work out the physics of how all would work together. ... show more
