My daughter is having so much fun with this kit. She comes home every day want to make a new dress for her barbie doll. It comes with so many different variety of fabrics for her to choose from. I love seeing her different creations. Definitely worth it.

First off I want to say if someone had bought this for me when I was a child, I would have been thrilled. It comes with a lot of pieces, and I really think they've thought of nearly everything a child or crafter might need to create something with this kit. Ribbons, elastic, hook and loop tape, sequins, gems, pin cushion, needles, threads, measuring tape, needle threader, fabric pen, two mannequins, necklaces, bows, lots of pretty fabrics. The fabric choices are mainly thin satin, of course because this kind of fabric is simple to drape over the mannequin, and the rest are like tulle for going under or over skirts. I used the included push tools to create a look on the mannequin with one of the ribbon trims and added a little bow with double-sided tape. It was very simple to do, and since I didn't cut or sew any of the pieces, they can all be used again to practice or try our different looks. When you're happy with a look, you can either sew the pieces and add velcro type fasteners or elastic, and if the child is not at a level to sew yet, they can use the double sided tape to keep the fabric together. One minor issue I noted was the tips of the 'spoons' you have to use to push the fabric in the back of the mannequins are very rough at the tops and snag the delicate fabrics. It's simple enough to run a nail file over the tops to get rid of the rough edges. Something I would recommend buying along with this kit would be some decent non-toxic fabric glue. Secondly maybe for an older child, a better pair of scissors for fabric, though I understand the reason for the safety scissors of course, and I did try them. They were good enough to cut through the tapes, but not really for the fabric. Also if you have a child who really enjoys sewing and likes the idea of designing clothes for their own dolls, I would buy some fabric squares to go along with this kit to expand their options for creativity since the type of fabric included is mainly for dresses and gowns. All in all, I think this is so fun for a child who likes to sew or design.
