So anyone spending time on conference calls knows a crappy mic and speaker is annoying to the user, and the people they're talking to. My laptop's microphone loved to pick up the sound of the CPU cooling fan, others told me it sounded like I was on my motorcycle! I tried a headset, but those are annoying in other ways, fortunately I have the room to myself so I can use a speaker. Well, the Anker conference speaker is great quality, especially for the money. The audio is clear and loud, SO much better than your phone's speakerphone function. And this works with both your phone AND a computer, but not at the same time. If you plug this unit into a computer, the computer recognizes it as a mic and speakers easily, and works great, but YOU CAN NOT USE THE BLUETOOTH SPEAKERPHONE WHILE IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER. I put that in all caps so it would stand out, I thought it was going to do both for me, but I later realized that wouldn't work anyway, but I know others will think the same as I did. If it connected to your phone, it would interrupt the conference call, so in reality, that's not a bad thing, but the computer doesn't release "control" over it even if the conference call has ended, so if it's plugged into the computer, your phone can't use it. Your phone still connects and sends audio to it, but it's ignored, so you can't hear your phone! That said, you can connect both computer and phone by Bluetooth, but connection behavior wasn't consistent and it wouldn't always do what I wanted it to (and honestly there's no way to program it to know what your preference might be at any given moment). So it doesn't do what you want it to, but it does what it needs to. I've only used it for a few phone calls, and it worked great, so much louder and easier to speak to than your phone on a conference table. Lastly, it's not as big as the photo makes it look, nor does it fit in your pocket, but it fits in a computer bag making it a great tool for the road warrior. BTW Amazon, you want me to rate this device on "Sheerness". Really ?

Update: It is now late November, 2024. I have purchased a second identical unit for use at work. These things work better than our old conference mic and speaker, and I have had no issues at all with either of them. The battery is even still holding up admirably in the older unit. If and when these need replacement - probably from the battery dying, which they all eventually do - I am going to get exactly the same unit. Edit: I am now more than a year in to using this speaker/microphone, and love it even more. I've purchased one for work, because it works better than the "conference unit" we have. If you do even a moderate amount of "hanging around a phone calling people" with friends, buy this unit. I cannot remember the last time I found a piece of electronics that outperformed expectations. Original review: This microphone/speaker combination is exactly what we needed. When using the phone speaker (iPhone 13), sound quality was poor, at best. With this device, we hear extremely well, and the other end reports good quality as well. This product deserves five stars. I will update this review if the longevity of the device is poor. Connecting to bluetooth was simple. Also, it has reconnected flawlessly each time. I have had items in the past where continual re-connection was required. There is no need to download the app. The on-device controls give very good performance, although you cannot see what the volume setting. The only minor complaint is the sound distorts slightly at very high volumes. It is still understandable, but annoying.

Now that the COVID restrictions are being lifted, we’re all back in our respective offices. As an Operations Officer, I bounce from office-to-office delegating responsibilities and receiving updates from my ground level managers via Zoom. Here are my thoughts with the S3: Sound: understand this, the S3 is a small package and one should not expect expansive, theater sound quality. Sound is a bit canny, but it is tolerable. The volume is clear enough and loud enough to manage a (average) 16’x18’ office(s) with up to six attendees. There’s quite a bit of external noise (manufacturing operations) in the background, and even with the door closed the noise bleeds through the office. I will say the volume on the S3 is louder than that of my iPad Pro. Microphones: We’re anywhere from 3’ to 10’ away from the S3’s internal microphones, and participants on the other end report no issues with anyone being able to (clearly) hear from any of us on our end. BT Connectivity: pairing is quick and painless! And, at no point has the S3 dropped while in use with my iPad or iPhone. Battery Life: my first Zoom vid conference call was at 0750 and the last one at 1745. Throughout the course of my day, I conducted nine (9) Zoom calls, that averaged 21 mins per call. This, incidentally, is a typical day with Zoom. At the end of the day, I plug in the S3 w/ the included USB C cable, and its ready in the morning for another Zoom cycle. Battery life is more than adequate for my daily use. Form Factor: the S3 is easy on the hands and eyes. All buttons are of good quality, tactile and easy to see (even with my aging eyes). Case: the included case allows me to carry the S3 in my (leather) briefcase without getting scratched/damaged. Overall impression: Kudos to the industrial designers. The S3 conveys a professional image. I give the S3 4.5 Stars and I highly recommend it for uses (and conditions) that are similar to mine.

How often are you in a zoom meeting and have a group of people in a room that need to be heard? I am often presenting for groups in conference rooms and will have people dial in as well. This works perfectly in this scenario. People in the room can easily hear questions from online callers....and what's better, the microphone on this is adaptive with noise cancelling technology. Lights on the unit spin towards the main person talking, indicating that the multiple microphones are focusing on the correct audio to project. This easily fits into my laptop bag and it doesn't weigh that much either. It's Bluetooth connectivity is easy to set up and transfer from one computer to the next of you have multiple presenters. I've had it for over a year and have really loved it. Still going strong.
