    • Great course
Few points first: 1) I speak 2 languages already so I guess learning the third should be much easier 2) I do have pretty good memory 3) I'm in my 40's if that makes any difference 4) I've been up and down the isle in search of German/French course, books, internet, CD's you name it. All was pretty much carp and inconclusive investment prospect. Having said that, I viewed this product much like Rosetta Stone. Probably a nice attempt but would it actually teach me the language. Well? It does. And it really did. To be honest, I was a bit astonished. My conclusion was I am either fantastic at learning foreign languages or this one does its job right. It could be a bit of both. So this is my story: I had a ski trip coming up and though it'd be cool if I could at least be able to get around. Fluenz arrived with a good month to spare, should be enough to go thru few lessons and pick up the basics. Time flew by and before I knew it, I was due to leave in 3 days. Fluenz still sitting on the shelf unopened. So I got it unpacked, let's at least see what is this all about. The install was simple and in 20min I was up and running. I went thru the first lesson and ... did not leave my desk for the next 2 days straight. I was so engulfed in this I went thru 24 lessons in one go. Usually this is not a very good idea, I mean a lot comes in but rushing will likely leave you forgetting most of what you've thought you'd learned. But that was not happening, I was actually getting it and the way the program is made I think had a lot to do with it. The lessons are organized in a way that I never felt overwhelmed, after a bit of dialog, explanation and exercises it all made sense. And it stayed in my head, too. Also, it seems and is quite refreshing the German taught is the German Germans actually do speak in situations where you as a tourist, say, are likely to be confronted with. Each lesson is comprised of three parts: 1) A quick scene 2) Explanations and more info by the 'teacher' 3) Review exercises. It all flows rather nicely and each lesson will take you 20-30 min or so. One point I would like to make is that you do not ignore the writing in the review exercises. Write, write, write. They seem tedious, repetitious, boring and oh I don't know, pointless, I need to speak not write. They're not, this really is key. However, you'd probably be best advised to disable the 'Exact spelling' in options because that part is plain retarded. Not the spelling, you still need to spell words correctly from what you hear but you're then not required to put periods and comas which never make sense anyway. And it only frustrates you to no end when you've typed the sentence 100% correct but the program tells you it's wrong because you forgot a period in the middle. Another reason why most of what I learned in this fly-by learning in 2 days is that the review exercises often contain items from past lessons, sometimes really old lessons. That helps a lot. Suggestion: There is a section in review exercises where you need to match English sentence to the equivalent German one. I would strongly suggest you do it 'backwards': read the German sentence, try to figure out what it means and then see what you can actually match to it in English. This prevents you from subconsciously guessing the answer which has zero benefit to your learning process. Final thought, DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING, however tedious, boring or waste of time because you already know it. You don't know it, do not skip anything. So, have I actually learned anything? That is a resounding yes! (And before you call BS on my 2 day crush course, I kid you not, nor have I ever spoke German before. I knew some common words, that's about all). I got on my Lufthansa flight and was able to ask the steward for some beer, orange juice, basic stuff. But I knew what he asked me, too. I had no problem at Munich airport and around town doing usual traveler's stuff. Asking directions, getting coffee or food, simple things but essential. And we're not talking broken one word utterances. I could actually form proper sentences. There were of course times when the extent of my limited knowledge ran out but then I had English to fall back on. I didn't want to though, I tried to use German as much as possible and dare I say it, it was fun as hell. Things got a bit more complicated in Austria at a ski rental place with some old guy who spoke zero English but even then I managed. I could order, I could pay, I could ask and answer. This was awesome. I got the Fluenz German 1. Only 1 because I wasn't gonna drop a large coin if this turned out to be a dud. I've gone over the entire level 3 times by now as a refresher and will do so one more time just to make sure things stick but I will be getting the remaining levels. I think I'm gonna go for the French next year. This of course is just my experience, YMMV, but thus far this was money very well spent. ... show more

This review is for the pest repellant as it seems most reviews on this product page are for different products. The ingredients in this repellant are peppermint and corn mint. It is very strong (and does not come off your hands for while after touching it). I just set the repellant out so we will see if it works on the spiders. I had to put it in an old food container with holes in the lid because it’s too strong of a smell for me. I bought this because I wanted something nontoxic for my kids and dogs. ... show more

    • Did not work at all! Do not waste your money
I have rats issue in my attic and I found their entrance. My planed to use this product to get the rats out and then seal the entrance. So I bought this product based on the great reviews and throw the packs over my attic. I waited for two days for the rats to get out before I sealed the entrance. however, I heard rats activities again in the next a couple of days. It seems like this product does not bother them at all. Now I am wondering how the rats would get out of my attic since the entrance had been sealed... ... show more

I bought 2 one for myself and one for my father in law. I love cooking wings at home and this is definitely the only way to go. I used it in the oven and on the grille already both were really good. I hate buying gifts for my father in law he's a real pain in my a$$ but even the father in law that has all of the gadgets loved this thing. Highly recommend it. Price was a steal arrived on time.
