  • Reduces background noise but does not enhance straight-ahead sound
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
If your main goal is to reduce ambient, background sound, this mic works OK so I'm giving it 4 stars. But my main goal was to improve the sound quality of iphone videos where the sound source is someone speaking about 8 feet in front of me. So I was also hoping for amplification of the straight-ahead sound. It did not do that. On my iphone 6, I tested the MightyMic against the phone's internal mic on a straight-ahead sound source at 3 feet, 6 feet and 10 feet. The sound volume and clarity were the same for both mics at all distances. I returned it and will continue to look for a mic that will enhance straight-ahead sound. ... show more

  • .... and ACTION!
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
My husband has written a screen play and is planning on using his phone to shoot the movie. His only problem was the ambient noise from the mic on the phone. We found this and he is OVER THE MOON ecstatic. This condenser mic works exactly how he wants it, bringing the dialog out and reducing the white noise. ... show more

  • Yes, this is perfect for your iOS device, iPhone or iPad.
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
I bought this to use on my iPhone 5S for HD Video recording. We cruise a lot and I'm tired of viewing videos with that awful wind racket the built-in mics make while out at sea. The only post-processing that works with that racket is to mute the sound and maybe do a voice-over for the affected tracks. The Ampridge MightyMic for iOS with its wind sock has eliminated the awful noise! I couldn't be happier! And, with the directional shotgun pointing at the subject being videoed, any background noise is realy subdued. This was a very good purchase for me. ... show more

  • not a great improvement over built-in mike
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
Marginal improvement over iPhone 5S microphone. Swiveling Ampridge mike 180 degrees (directly toward and away from source) while recording my own voice at arms length demonstrated disappointingly small difference. I was hoping for better differentiation of nearby voices from other conversationalists in a noisy room. ... show more

Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
I use this for mostly hands free calling in my car. I dont have a car stereo with blue tooth but my Explorer has a 3.5mm AUX port in the console so I run a standard 2 bar stereo male to male 3.5mm cord from my console to the out put port on the MightyMic and I use a 3 bar male to female mic/stereo car from the MightyMic to my Note 5 and it works perfectly. I had a JVC stereo with blu tooth in my old Buick Rendezvous and people would complain about backround noise and echoes all the time with my current set up i dont get any more complaints ... show more

  • Improved directional audio recording but remove for playback
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
Works very well but be aware that you must remove it before listening to playback because it plugs into the headphone jack. This might seem obvious, but I thought it wasn't working because I'd test record and then try to watch/listen to playback without removing it.

  • Mounting / connection problem in waterproof case of my HERO 3
Style: GoPro/iPhone Shotgun Mic
I don't have and don't want to have a hole in my waterproof HERO 3 box to fitt this microphne. Without that waterproof housing there is no way to mount my GoPro somewhere. I did not think about this. Thought to be able to use with my iPhone 6 Plus also, but (as usual) Apple made the connection a little bit different so it does not work. It record dead silence. Gladly the sound quality on the GoPro becomes much better. But indeed it is very low, Software will have to help you with this. The microphone will point / slide down in future if the connection wears out. I will have to return this. ... show more

  • No improvement in sound quality or amplification from adding the microphone to the iPhone
Style: iPhone Shotgun Mic
It took me a while to get an audio expert to come over, but he confirmed my opinion that there is no improvement in sound quality or amplification from adding the microphone to the iPhone. Unfortunately, the window to return the item had run out, and I am stuck with it. Or, soon Goodwill will be stuck with it. ... show more
