Although this is a nice versatile toy for kids, it has uses for adults as well. Not only the fun but as a transport toy for carrying small payloads into holes in the ground for inspection. I specifically got it to mount an iPhone borehole camera to in order to drive it into a critter hole to determine where and how deep the den went to assist in eliminating an armadillo from the property. It was inexpensive enough that if it got stuck in the hole, I would not be too concerned about it. I can also see it as a transport vehicle for mounting a GoPro camera for crawlspace inspection without having to do the crawl. Especially good for small crawlspaces. Of course, the camera mounting was completely up to me as there is no mechanism provided to do so. This was designed as strictly an amphibious RC vehicle and not a tool, so my experiences are not the toy. As a toy, this little device can move and cover a lot of ground very quickly. I ended up installing the tracks, which required removing the individual tire rubber treads. Removal of the individual treads was not extremely easy as the bands are tight inside the plastic wheel so it takes a little effort using a small flat head screw driver to pry it up enough to be able to remove it. After removing the individual bands, the tracks were extremely easy to install. I put the car/boat through all its paces on solid ground and it did all the moves as required. Operation on thick Bermuda grass was possible but slow and unpredictable as the vehicle and wheels are too small to navigate accurately over thick grasses. Sand, turf grass, small gravel and water worked well. I tested the controller range out to 150 feet with it accurately controlling the vehicle without and signal dropout, even though the product page says 30 meters which is about 98 feet. This was on a full charge of both battery sets, but each user’s experience may be different. The controller has two buttons, one for forward and one for reverse. But I also discovered that pushing both joysticks forward causes forward motion, likewise, pushing both joysticks backward caused the vehicle to reverse direction. The joysticks are three positions only, middle is off, no movement, up is forward movement of the wheels associated with the side controller the joystick is activated, and down is reverse. Left joystick operates the left wheels, likewise the right joystick operates the right wheels. The front and back wheel on each side operate in tandem, that is the wheels on one side do no operate independent of each other. The instruction manual mentions a watch controller along with the remote control. The watch controller was not included. The other non-intuitive issue was the status of the charging on the batteries. Included is a USB-A smart charging cable with a flashing LED light in the USB-A connector end. When the battery is fully charged, it appears that the flashing LED turns solid red. The instruction manual does not clarify this function. The batteries both come almost fully charged so the toy can be used right out of the box as soon as the battery is connected in the vehicle and 2 AA batteries are inserted in the controller. This is a fun inexpensive amphibious toy that you kid will love, especially if they are into trying to do tricks and setting up an obstacle course.

This RC vehicle is Built like a Tank and has Zero Issues going through mud and water! So far so good with not having any fluids leak inside the battery compartment! On the belly of the vehicle is where you’ll find the battery compartment. The lid is held in place with Two Screws and fits nice and snug, hence the no leak part. Also in the battery compartment area, they used a good amount of an epoxy type material where the battery gets connected. Those same wires go inside the body of the RC vehicle and are completely covered with the epoxy type material, looks like a good waterproof seal so far, Thumbs Up! We’ve gone at full speed off the ledge of our pool right into the water and had Zero Leakage!! We’ve also gone through mud and water and had no leaks at all! If you’re looking for an RC vehicle where the addition of LED Lights is the main focal point of the vehicle and more attention paid to them over a quality made RC vehicle, you’ll have to pass on this one. This RC vehicle doesn’t have LED Lights, which in my opinion the lights get old after a little bit of use, so not having LED lights on this one isn’t a big deal at all! Instead of having LED lights all over the place, this RC vehicle is focused on a quality build with tons of cool stunts! The included instruction booklet goes over the entire RC vehicle from the initial setup all the way through performing stunts and that kind of stuff. The batteries charged to full pretty fast, maybe about 30 minutes each. I’m sure they had a partial charge when they arrived though. After running the batteries down to the point where I could see a difference in performance, I went ahead and charged the batteries. On the recharge(second time to charge)each battery took around 45 to 50 minutes each to fully charge, pretty fast in my book. Each of the batteries provided between 25 to 30 minutes of run time which is a good amount of time considering how fast this vehicle can go!! That’s one thing that stands out more with this RC vehicle over others I’ve purchased is the fact this one is Really Fast! Even though it’s a fast RC vehicle, it’s By Far the Easiest to Maintain Control of!! To me that’s a huge point and factor when considering purchasing an RC vehicle. It’s one thing to go fast, but if it goes fast and its uncontrollable, that’s a big nothing burger! Going fast like this one can and being Easy to Control and Maintain makes this a True Winner!! You can use the RC vehicle with the included tank like tracks or you can opt for the narrow strips that go on the tires. I’ve tried both ways and enjoy them equally in that area. I will say with using the tracks, it’s able to grip the surface better it’s traveling on. Not saying it doesn’t grip good with the narrow strips, just saying it grips more with the tank like tracks installed, but with the tracks it doesn’t go as fast. Still fast, it’s just faster with the narrow strips installed. Removing the narrow strips on the tires is easier if you use as smaller size flat head screw driver. The strips are made well and go on nice and tight. With that, that’s where a flat screw driver head makes it easier to remove the strips. If you don’t have a smaller size flat screw driver, you can use anything that’s similar to one to remove the strips. You can Totally Remove the narrow strips from the tires without the use of a smaller size flat head screw driver or any other aid, it’s just faster/easier using a screw driver. Just don’t use anything that could harm the strips though. Nothing with a Point on it or a sharp edge as you most likely will stab or nick/cut the strip with the pointed end or cut with the edge of item! I can remove all four of the strips in just a minute or two without using anything except my fingers so don’t be concerned about this at all, just passing on what I consider useful info. This is one of the better RC vehicles I’ve purchased and Def Recommend a Purchase!! This would make an Excellent Gift to anyone and not just a child, it’s actually a blast for any age to use!

This our first amphibious RC car and it's a blast to play with, it's pretty resilient, drives on both sides does stunts, can re be driven on it's side. It zips through water with little effort. The batteries in the car are rechargeable lithiums and the remote takes 2 AA batteries, play time lasted about about 20 mins. Changing the tread was very difficult till we realized you have to pull the forwards before pulling it off. For the current price of $17.99 we highly recommend car boat for the entertainment value.

This stood up to at least 3 days of my son driving it from the beach into the lake, then off the dock into the lake. He enjoys it and it really is amphibious. Some basic steps were taken to protect the guts from the water, but it really is amazing for the price.
