I’m really impressed with the Altra Dakota L-shaped desk! It looks amazing in my home office and gives me so much more working space than I had before. The built-in bookshelf on the side is super handy — I use it for storing notebooks, small decor, and even my printer on the bottom shelf. The finish looks sleek and modern, and it feels sturdy and well-made. It did take a little while to assemble, but the instructions were clear and all the pieces fit perfectly. Once it was set up, it completely transformed the look and function of my workspace. If you’re looking for an affordable, stylish, and functional desk, this one is a great option! ... show more

  • Great L Desk
Color: Black Oak
It's super nice to be able to turn in my chair to get to each of my laptops instead of having to slide/roll the chair over. It was easy to assemble alone in a couple hours. It also matches perfectly with my black TV stand of the same style. It gives me plenty of room on the top and I like having the shelves on the side so I can put the stuff I don't often use there. Feels sturdy and I love the price. ... show more

  • Follow the instructions EXACTLY.
Color: Black Oak
Great, sturdy, nice looking desk. I found it easy enough to put together, but my husband did not lol. It HAS to be put together in the right order, if you try to get ahead and do something before the instructions say to do that part it won't fit together right. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like to follow the directions and wants to just put it together, you're gonna have a bad time. It didn't require any tools not in the box (except to fix what my husband broke when he tried, he's one of the previously mentioned no-instructions people lol), the instructions were easy to follow, the connections used worked great. It is that particle board kind of wood, so breaks just a little bit easier than I'd prefer, but I expected that for the price. Overall I'd buy it again. Just definitely follow the instructions!!! ... show more

This desk is good my mom was nice enough to let me buy this. I got it with my own money for 44$. I’d say it’s very sturdy and functional it dose scratch easy though. otherwise it was easy to assemble I’m a teen and this was a cake walk. at the end though you may want two people. I well say do not buy for more then 80$ because it’s made cheap. ... show more

  • Poor quality. You get what you pay for.
Color: Espresso
The first thing I have to say that the desk is pretty poor quality. I noticed issues immediately when assembling it, but for the $100 I paid, I rolled with it. I've noticed several more issues along the way, but i'm roughly four months into ownership and I feel it's time to write a review. Assembly is pretty straight forward, however, some of the holes for the cam locks are misaligned/missing. Not a huge deal if you're at all handy. But the camlock design in general is kind of garbage when used with the poor quality material the desk is made of. You have a chance of "blowing out" the material around the camlock, again, not a huge problem if you're careful. The next problem I found when assembling it was that the "L" part of the desk just uses little flat brackets. This really isn't a sufficient support for the part of the desk it is on. I have the problem with the screws falling out of the holes, now, four months later the holes are too stripped out to even use- so I'll have to come up with a new solution for that. The camlocks in a few spots have "blown out" from the desk having some wiggle, effectively just stressing the already poor quality material. I've remedied this by buying some "L" brackets from Home Depot and just "beefing up" the corners. This is not an elegant fix, but the brackets are underneath and you don't really notice them unless you're looking under the desk. My first complaint that doesn't involve the poor quality is that the edges of the desktop are unusually sharp. I'm not "frail" by any means, but I did manage to give myself a pretty good scratch on day two of owning the desk. Not sure how I did it, it's just sharp. The surface finish of the desk is really quite poor. I'm sure any kind of liquid would destroy it, but then again I don't recommend leaving any liquids on *any* desk. I've noticed however that the surface is quickly wearing down. (Where my mouse is, and around the keyboard the finish is wearing off just from normal use.) Around some edges and corners the finish has worn off completely, which is odd because they see no wear and tear. If you just saw this desk randomly in the corner, you would think it was a decade old from the wear and tear it has obtained in four months with nothing but a couple computer monitors on it. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the desk.. but if you do get it- just realize you're getting what you pay for. It was a hundred dollar desk, and it's doing its job for the most part. I would probably be more upset with the purchase if I couldn't simply hack the desk back together. If I had not been able to make some "fixes" to it, the desk would have been unusable by now and I probably would have written a much harsher review. Update: Six months into owning this desk now and I am just so annoyed with it. Previously I mentioned that for $100 you get what you pay for, but this quality for $100 is ridiculous. I'm six months into owning it, and I've had to brace every corner of the desk because the material is so fragile it has just fallen apart. The corners have metal brackets from Home Depot, different screws everywhere, and the flat plate that braces the "L" has lost it's screws. (I guess general use of the desk just wiggles it enough the screws fall out, and if you try to reinstall them the material just comes out with the screw.) I'm not over-tightening the screws by any means. All this being said, I have two monitors on the desk and a keyboard and mouse. Not a lot of weight by any means, and I don't use this desk for work, so it's not like it's getting 8 hours of use. It's a few hours a night at best. I'm now 3D printing a "brace" for the "L" corner hoping it will hold it together somewhat better because the design of it is absolute trash. ... show more
