  • Works Good For Most Graphic Cards!
Style: Processor Only
I recently had a RTX 2060 Super and I upgraded to a RTX 4070Ti and I had a Ryzen 7 3700X. After I put my card in I saw that it was getting bottled necked so that’s when I bought this CPU, the Ryzen 7 5800x3D! This thing works really good, and the bottle neck is now gone as well, if this is a little pricey for you then you can always get the Ryzen 7 5800x as well which is less money and almost the same performance! I see a lot of people saying that this CPU get like really really hot, my CPU is water cooled so the temps are probably lower if it was air cooling but my temps sit around 65c to 75c when gaming. When I ran a test in Cinnabench on all cores, lithe temps were around 79c to 84c but you will not use all the power on gaming so the temps are usually down, overall it is a really good CPU and I would recommend this to anyone looking for on, just know to make sure that it will not bottle neck, if you are getting a RTX 4080 or RTX 4090, RX 7900XT then you should get a better CPU in my opinion. Hope this helps you decide! ❤️ ... show more

  • Fantastic gaming upgrade
Style: Processor Only
I was running a 5600x. Then I upgraded to a 4080 and wanted more CPU to drive the 4080 higher so I bought the 5800x3d as a drop-in replacement. Wow. My average and 1% lows jumped quite a bit. I am pleased with the gaming performance. The games I play are definitely smoother. One of my Serious Sam 4 maps jumped from an average FPS of 127 -> 163 and the 1% low went from 81 -> 134. These are at 1440p. For gaming, I am pleased with the x3d. I miss PBO that I was running on my 5600x. Desktop performance does feel ever so slightly slower but it may just be my imagination. Im running CO -30 to keep power consumption and temperature down. the x3d does run significantly hotter in benchmarks. However, during normal gaming with reasonably capped framerates, it's only hotter by 5-10C over the 5600x w/PBO and a Noctua NH-U14S cooler. I did add a second fan to the cooler but I'm not sure that helped a great deal. All in all, I love the 5800x3d. It will hold me over and extend my AM4 system. I'll upgrade to AM5 but much later on and will probably skip the 7800x3d and wait for the 8800x3d (I assume there will be a drop in Zen5 replacement in the same x3d family). ... show more

  • Great All Around and Excellent Value
Style: Processor Only
I had a 5600X that I felt was bottlenecking my 4070 TI in CoD MW2 at 1440p resolution. I went back and forth about upgrading. Amazon had dropped the price so I went ahead and ordered it. I am so grateful I did as my gains are definitely worth it not only in MW2 but other games like BF 2042. This CPU (5800X3D) is definitely worth it and will give you a 20FPS boost and keep you good for a good amount of time in the future. It ran hotter than my 5600X as it’s higher wattage but I followed an easy undervolting guide and along with my EK Basic 240 AIO it stays as cool and quiet as my 5600X. If you are hesitating on this chip, tell yourself yes and buy it if it’s at the 325 price or below. It may run out so it will be pricier in the future unless you upgrade to AM5. It’s definitely worth it. ... show more

  • The single best AM4 chip for gaming... period. Great 1% lows, good 99% average over 5800x.
Style: Processor Only
I went back and forth on whether or not to upgrade from my 5800x. After reading several reviews online, I decided to pull the trigger. For those who primarily play FPS games where micro-stutters, resulting in inconsistent 1% lows, are a BIG deal? This is the best chip for you when it comes to AM4. My 1% lows leveled out with an increase of around 20% over the 5800x. This is a huge 'pro' for gamers and it's all thanks to the 3D v-cache of this chip. What games does this matter for? Valorant, Warzone, Fortnite, Assetto Corsa, Apex, R6 Siege, etc. For Warzone, what I primarily play, my 1% lows increased from ~100 fps to 120 fps on 1440p 'normal' quality. My 99% averages also increased from ~150 fps to 165 fps. For a game that can be buggy by nature, it really helped. Important to note, results will be highly dependent on your hardware. For what it's worth, my 5800x3d is paired with s 4070ti, 32gb ddr4 3600mhz cl 16 ram, and a quick m.2 ssd. The 'cons'? Not many in terms of performance for gaming. Since the clock speeds are lower than the 5800x you will see a bit of performance drop in multi-threaded tasks outside of gaming. So if you're main use case isn't gaming? I'd maybe consider the 5800x over this chip. Play fps games? This is the chip for you! ... show more

  • Great performance, Horrible Temps!
Style: Processor Only
I went from a 3700x to a 5800x to this 5800X3D and right off the bat I was regretting the jump from the 5800x. The temps are just absolutely horrendous, like instant 90 degrees and throttling during an R23 Benchmark on a Peerless Assassin 120 SE horrendous. I am actually somewhat disappointed that AMD would release a chip that basically cannot be cooled under normal circumstances, this alone made me want to return the dang thing but unfortunately I sold the 5800x to fund this upgrade. Luckily a little bit of experimenting and I was able to get the temps down while being happy with performance through undervolting. I did not get any screenshots but I will list my results below, monitored with HWMonitor, Min/Max reset before each run and all changes done in bios. R23 Cinebench: Stock - 1.263v, Package 90.4c, Cores 4.2-4.4 @ 135w = Score of 13923 PBO -30 Offset - 1.175v, Package 81c, Cores 4.4-4.5 @ 117w = Score of 14581 Undervolt 1.2v - Package 88.8, Cores 4.4-4.5 @ 125w = Score 13685 Undervolt 1.1v - Package 70.4, Cores 4.4-4.5 @ 91w = Score 12159 Undervolt 1.0v - Package 62c, Cores 4.4-4.5 @ 75w = Score 12105 Of these results I opted to go for the solid 1.1v undervolt but as you can see the clear winner was a -30 PBO...Better Performance and Temps! Overall Thoughts: I can live with having to undervolt as the performance gain over the 5800x is nice. I do not have nearly as much fluctuation in frame rate, overall games seem to run smoother as well. As an example I am maintaining 165hz at 1440p in Warzone 2.0 with an occasional dip in the 140's, on the 5800x I would see constant dips below 140. ... show more
