As a 3D artist I gotta say I really like this CPU! It is really fast at rendering and got a Cinebench score of 14254! I did enable the Precision Boost Overdrive in the BIOS. Things you should know is, make sure you properly cool this CPU, I bought the new Aorus Liquid Cooler 360 and it couldn’t cool down my temperatures at full CPU load of 95c, and resulted in lower Cinebench scores of around 13400-13700. However, I switched to a Noctua air cooler “NH-U14S TR4-SP3”, and replaced the fan it came with, with a 120mm fan “NF-A12x25” for better RPM. Overall, idle temps and full load were much better! 36c-39c idle, 84c-85c full load and much quieter than the Aorus Liquid cooler 360. Finally, I am happy with this CPU and it serves me well. Quick Note: just make sure you know what you are doing if you decide to enable Precision Boost Overdrive. Read and look up information and tutorials. and don’t mess with anything if you don’t know much. Update on a 5 star review: Unfortunately, I have to knock down 2 stars because as a 3D artist, Maya user, whenever I try to unfold some pieces of my UV's, I get a "// Error: Unfold3D process error." , which some users have experienced with Ryzen CPU's if you look in the Maya forums the same mesh works with Intel rigs and functions properly. Personally, I never had a problem unfolding UV's with my Intel rig until in Maya 2019-2020, only when I bought my new 3960X, which is a nightmare with UV unfolding because you have to cut the UV's in places that are very undesirable in order to unfold your UV's and then I have to reattach them manually in the right places. I know Intel's prices for the Intel - Core i9-10980XE 18-core may be high, but if you want to avoid software issues, I would definitely go Intel because recently as 02/24/2020 AMD has had many driver issues with their GPU's and the Ryzen Master App is super buggy, sometimes it loads and sometimes it doesn't and I get an "error hence aborting". Literally, I have to click on the Ryzen Master App sometimes up to 5 times in order to bypass the error to load up the app. AMD's hardware is impressive, but without proper functioning software it will still be behind Intel. Final thoughts: I would not recommend buying this CPU if you are a Maya user, AMD's software is too buggy and unreliable and this is the first and last time I will buy AMD. Sorry AMD, I gave you a chance and you failed me big time, I trusted you and these type of issues are not acceptable. Maya is an industry standard, and AMD should've invested more time into these types of issues because you cannot render your mesh without UV unwrapping and texturing it first, so fast renders don't mean a thing if my Ryzen CPU has issues UV unfolding my UV's. I Got this last week. I own a threadripper 3970x But. that is more costly then this one so I decided to buy this for my second threaddripper build. I used the same Asus mother board. I used the same be quiet air cooled cpu cooler. I went with the same 500gb Aorus nvme 2 ssd. I used a corsair rm850x psu and 8 sticks of hyperx 16gb ram for a total of 128gb ram. I mine with this machine Xmr/monero this machine cost me a lot less then my 3970x build. Which is same motherboard ,same cooler, same nvme ssd. I am happy with this after 10-14 days of running it is nice. this machine does 21-22k hash rate the more expensive machine does 27-28k hash rate. this build. was 35% cheaper. and I get 25% less hash not 35% less so this has more value. ... show more

Great for video editing in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro. I've noticed a good performance boost when using it to create motion graphics inside the Fusion tab of Resolve, much faster than the Intel i9 9920x I was using. It also renders out projects very fast which is great in case I need to go back and render something out again. My first AMD processor and I couldn't be happier. The only thing to look out for is the heat this thing generates, using a Noctua NH-U14S, but it's not the recommended fan cooler for this CPU. The only coolers on the recommended list for this CPU are liquid coolers to my knowledge (as of 2/22/2020). Excellent CPU, worth the $$$ and switch to AMD. ... show more

Praise AMD for this jewel. Does not even need liquid cooling (I use a Noctua 140mm fan). Note that this is not a gamer CPU, and it is optimized for multithreaded professional applications. If you are a gamer, go for cheaper models because you don’t need so many CPU cores.

I was debating between this and the 36 core model, and I'm glad I went with this one. My other components are 128gb of ram, Two 1tb NVMe 4.0 drives, 2080it... I use a LOT of the Adobe Suite, and for video editing, the Adobe CC suite isn't quite coded to fully utilize a build like this. Right now I've done a lot of editing and rendering and here is my experience: -Adobe After Effects: can not utilize these many cores. I'm sure the next release will, but right now if I render a video or even during editing, I'm at most 38percent processor utilization. According to what I can find on Adobe's site, it maxes out at 16 cores. - Adobe Rush - Utilizes all cores, but even with multiple layers on a 4k 60 min video file, 72% processor utilization -Adobe Premiere - Same as Rush, but on a few renders I've been able to get up to high 80s on utilization. I don't regret the build, but at the moment, Adobe needs to do a lot of work on their software to start to utilize these processors. That being said... I can render something, and continue using my computer as if nothing is going on in the background, and that is incredible. My plan is to use this smaller core build, and then as Adobe steps up their game, and windows steps up their processor utilization game, then I'll upgrade to the larger core and not need to replace any other components. - ... show more

Great CPU for gaming, excellent for productivity or work, value is great, performance is better in Intel, "arguably", but you don't have to sell your first born to get it. Intel needs to step up to catch these guys now.
