  • Best budget-friendly tablet
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Slate Style: Fire HD 10 Plus
I have owned many different kindle fire devices over the years from the Kindle fire 7 (one of the first generations) to now having the Kindle Fire HD 10 plus. The newest HD 10 plus tablet by amazon is the second Kindle Fire HD 10 tablet I have owned and it doesn't disappoint. I have only used it for a few hours so far but the screen quality, performance, and battery life seems like a big step up compared to the 9th generation HD 10 tablet. Performance: - Ram has been doubled to 4gb for the newest 11th generation - This allows for more multi-tasking without bogging down your system - I plan to update this section again once I have had more time to do more tasks that require high ram usage Screen Quality - First thoughts when I saw the screen was "WOW" - The previous generation had a decent looking screen but the newest generation appears to have a much better build quality at first glance - I have not had a chance to watch any videos yet so will update this again after I have had more time with it Battery Life: - So far, the battery life has been amazing and it even seems better than the previous generation despite the claim of it lasting the same time - I would contribute this to the double ram that has been put in the HD 10 plus. Case: - The 9th generation cases do not work the newest generation Kindle Fire HD 10. - As can be seen in the description for the newest tablet, it is supposed to be slimmer. In conclusion, this is an amazing tablet for anyone that is looking for a budget-friendly device that won't break the bank but can still offer a lot of functionality. This is not an android tablet and it doesn't claim to be. On YouTube, you can find a workaround in order to get the Google app store and it is very easy to do so. I would highly recommend this tablet to anyone. Update (1 week of use): - I will try to keep this update as short as possible and try to provide as much insight over the past week from my personal experience. This is the best Kindle Fire Amazon has released. I opted to go with the 32GB version of the HD 10 Plus because I don't download a lot of games plus I had a 64GB SD card to go along with it. - Performance: 4GB of RAM is plenty to provide a smooth gaming experience especially for a tablet. The majority of my screen time personally is spent watching "The Flash" (currently) on Netflix. There is no lag to anything I have done. The transition from one app to another is smooth. - Screen Quality: Watching shows on Netflix has been a great experience. There's not much to comment on. You are limited to a 1080p screen but don't let that deter you. The quality is still excellent for watching movies. - Battery Life: I have used the tablet probably 2-3 hours a day and have only needed to charge it once. It really seems to hold up well from day to day usage. I hope that the battery will continue to hold up and not degrade as quickly as the previous tablets did. - In conclusion, everything I mentioned in my first review stands. I really enjoy this tablet given the improvement in performance and overall build quality. I would still recommend this tablet to everyone, specially people that do not want to spend several hundred dollars on a Samsung or Apple tablet. I will continue to provide updates as I delve deeper into the heart of the Kindle Fire HD 10 plus. ... show more

  • Excellent Purchase. Very pleased.

I want to shout out to HJeffK for his excellent review and add to it. Amazing job hitting the key points. Here is my experience: I did not buy this for work but pleasure. I got the bundle as a prime early access deal, so the 10 plus, office 365, the keyboard and case. I did the 64g tablet and ordered a wireless mouse and a 512g sd card. I have previously had an 8 tablet. Lasted for 5 years before the battery was toast. Loved it. Upgraded to the 10.1". I've had that for going on 4 years or so. It still functions perfectly and I'm keeping it for my usual book reading, audio books, movies etc. I have been looking for a laptop to basically write on. I write for my own pleasure and wanted someplace to do that and our current laptop is on it's last legs. I have been so frustrated with the price of new computers, and I get it. They have a lot on them but i really don't need all that. If I was looking to work on it yeah, but....I'm not. I just needed word, excel, email and maybe powerpoint. I saw the 10 plus tablet bundle and started my research. The whole works was under 250 and I decided to try it. 1st, I would like to remind anyone of the fact that this is not a laptop, so don't expect it act like one. Things are not placed like a laptop. The storage does not work like a laptop. I got the 512g sd card and had to reconfigure it to portable storage....and it asks me every time if that is what I want. I'm not a techie person so maybe there is something somewhere I can do to eliminate that question, but it's not a deal breaker for me. There is a headphone jack and 1 C port. That's it. That is my biggest gripe. My 2nd gripe is the battery life. First though the C port. This is the charger and also where you can plug in your CUSB after I bought it, since all of mine were the old regular kind and that is where I had all of my files. I used an adapter to make my USB a C but the tablet really did not like that and it took forever to connect. Once it did, i had to save my work on the tablet then plug in the actual C port USB. I could then save my work on that. So, kind of a hassle but again, this is not a laptop and i don't want to save my work on it. Now that I know how it works this has been a pleasure for me. It's small enough to fit in my purse and haul with to work on while waiting to pick up my son from after school activities. It's heavier than my first 10 tablet but it has the keyboard on it. The weight, to me, is not significant. If anyone has experience with the wireless charging I'd be interested in hearing if it is better than the cord. The keyboard. It's small. Of course it is. It's only a 10" tablet. Weirdly enough, it's easier for me to type on that small key board than it is my work laptop when I go to meetings. I was pleasantly surprised. It folds up with the screen well. There is no lag typing to screen. At all. It's amazing. I have also found that i use the touch screen to scroll more than the wireless mouse. The mouse is nice and i use it but I'm used to moving around my kindle by touching the screen so I default to that. Connectivity of keyboard. I have found that I need to shut off the keyboard when I am done because it does not automatically connect when I open it up later. Not a big deal, i just turn the switch on. It took a hot minute to figure out how to get the tablet to recognize the keyboard because I threw away the information cards it came with by mistake. I took it to my work IT department and they showed me how to do it. There are 2 keys on the keyboard. Easy once he showed me and I have never had to do it again. It recognizes it. My 2nd gripe, the battery. A bigger base was mentioned for the charger. Might me a good idea. It takes several hours. SEVERAL hours for this tablet to charge and it drains the battery at an alarming rate when I am writing. I have yet to work on it starting at 100% until it is dead. I will try that and update here as to how long it takes, but I can start at 100 and it will be down to 60% within a couple of hours. Not sure why. If it didn't take dang near the whole day to charge it wouldn't be a big deal but because there is only 1 C port, you cannot have a USB plugged in and charge at the same time. When I am working on it the only thing I have open is the 365 subscription, word, that came with it. I close all other apps if I am not using them. I will close everything out and put it to sleep. Guaranteed it will be almost dead within a day or 2 with no activity. I've looked to see if there is something running in the background without success. I gave the battery life a 3 because I'm not sure if there is something on my end that is running. All in all, very pleased. There is no lag on this tablet. At all. I would buy it again and, in fact, have one sitting in my cart for my daughter. Nice alternative to a laptop if you are not looking to do any major gaming or anything like that. It will absolutely run movies etc just fine. Excellent purchase. 12/21/22: UPDATE about the battery life. I've had this tablet for a month or more and found that I did indeed have stuff running in the background that contributed to the poor battery life. I'm not a tech person and once this was figured out the battery has been fine. I used the original cord to charge it, apparently that is not what I was using before, and it charges fine. I can go several hours typing before I need to charge it. All in all, VERY happy with this purchase. ... show more
