The Echo Dot Max offers noticeably better sound quality, especially for high notes and instrumental music, compared to both earlier Echo products and many more expensive Bluetooth speakers in its price range. The Alexa Plus setup typically prompts during the initial configuration on any new, eligible Echo device, and if you’ve previously set up Alexa Plus on another device (like an Echo Spot), the integration should be seamless—no need for repeat setup if the account is the same. While most of the female Alexa Plus voices can be somewhat annoying, I discovered a male voice option that is much more pleasant to listen to. I highly recommend trying out the male voices.

All my other (older) echodots paired seamlessly with my pc and for use as my pc speaker. This will not easily connect and when it does it is not found as an audio device despite claims. Techs tried, I tried and no luck. Was told pairing can fail due to driver conflicts, firmware differences, or setup order. Newer models like the 5th gen sometimes introduce stricter Bluetooth stack requirements or bugs that older generations sidestep. But then it connected and worked and then disappeared. Tenuous link at best. Long story short, I had to send it back.

I was expecting the sound of the Echo Dot Max to be equal or better than the Echo (4th gen). It does not even come close to matching the depth, bass and range of the Echo (4th gen). Alexa+ works amazingly & is very fast with its responses. I appreciate the size and the materials of the Dot Max. It feels as durable as other smart speakers that I've bought from Amazon. Thankfully, I am able to trade-in old devices for credit towards the new one, but I do not think it is worth the price it currently sells for and should be listed for at least $50.

I like the look and feel. The sound Is realy good. You notice the improved sound. AT THIS TIME DOES NOT WORK WITH ALEXA HOME THEATER. My Alexa app still has problems so it did not install easily. Would not buy another till I can use it for home theater. My older Echo Studios still have much better sound.

I just got my new echo and it’s so amazing the way you play your music and the sounds with the base it’s amazing, clear voice as well the size is perfect and quality is sick i highly recommend getting one or 2. I will be buying another one definitely

Disappointing sound--no better and possibly worse than the dot it replaced. I had assumed the sound would be more on par with the old Echo but really poor bass. Not worth the money, poor sound quality, and bulkier than the old one. Perhaps the microphones are more sensitive and the setup is the same as before--easy. All in all, not worth it, and perhaps the worst one yet.
