I ordered these as "damaged box" items from Amazon. I sit at my counter to work pretty much all day. After reading reviews that these are very comfortable I decided to go ahead with my purchase. When they arrived they were in perfect condition just with a banged up box as was noted (well worth the SUBSTANTIAL discount Amazon offered). It is very comfortable with ample padding and soft upholstery. The height is good for a standard 36" counter top. The wood on the hemp color is considerably lighter than what is shown online. It's almost completely blonde / natural. I wasn't too thrilled about that. Had I paid full price it may have been a deal breaker for me but because I got such a deal I decided to live with it. The upholstery is also slightly lighter than what is shown but I like it. I accidentally got buttered spaghetti squash on it pretty quickly and it cleaned off without leaving any spot and without much effort. HOWEVER, DO NOT attempt to move the chair while seated. Natural inclination is to grab the side of the seat to scoot it over. If the chair starts to swivel at the same time you will discover that your finger is in INSIDE the swivel mechanism. My teenage son had this happen (only minor pinch) and then I had it happen with a moderately severe (and VERY PAINFUL) result (it cut my finger and also badly bruised it) . I thought it important to warn others (especially those with small children) as it could easily result in a broken finger or hospital trip. Had I paid full price I'd be pretty upset with this design flaw but seeing as I got them for a quarter of the listed price and we have no small kids in the house we'll manage and be sure to warn guests. UPDATED REVIEW: for these for two reasons; Once you get used to them we've had no more finger injuries. I will leave the warning above because I still think it could be a concern for those with smaller children. That said, the fabric on these is REALLY impressive and earned another star. We've had them for close to a year now. Still very comfortable with no padding break down. They've gotten quite a variety of food on them and all that's required to clean is a damp rag. EVERYTHING comes right out. A solid choice that I'm very happy with even with the initial finger injuries!

The search for bar stools was long and arduous. Even on Amazon, it was like searching a vast jungle before I finally came upon this particular chair. What I like about the chair design: The height is pub height. I like that you step up and sit up a bit high. I wanted that bar table feeling when taking a break from cooking, or sitting down in the kitchen for a quick meal. It feels fun and special to get up on the chair. The chair came fully assembled. Of course it is nice that the work is already done. But it also means the chair is very sturdy. I think if I put them together, there would be more chance of the screws not fitting well or loosening up. I feel good that an expert in this chair model put all the pieces together and sent me a strong piece of furniture. You have to step on the rungs to get on and off the chair, so durability of the construction is important. The fabric is a nice gray color that matches our kitchen. The front rung/step has a metal piece to protect the wood from feet resting on it. The chair set is large enough for my husband to sit comfortably. Yet the seat is small enough that when eating, you aren't going to spill anything on the chair since it is covered up by you sitting on it. The cushioning is adequate. The full back is very comfortable. The swivel doesn't spin. There isn't a lot of motion to it. Really it just seems to serve the purpose of preventing the chair construction being weakened over time, from the give and take that stresses the wood every time you turn and get off the chair. The little bit of swivel lets the chair turn just a little bit while you get on or off. What I didn't like -- The only thing I did not like is that the chair feet came with plastic chair glides nailed in. I had to carefully finagle those off with a screwdriver so that I could put felt on the feet of the chair. Our kitchen has a soft floor that does not do well with plastic chair glides. Luckily I was able to get the glides off without damaging the chair. Overall I am super pleased with these chairs. They are a good style match, very comfortable, and a reasonable price.

I was looking for stools that were assembled at the factory, rather than cheap screw together - assembly required junk. These are those stools. Perhaps more expensive, but they won't start falling apart in a year. They are also very comfortable and the perfect height for a 36" high kitchen counter. The metal covered foot rest assures that won't be a wear item in the near future. I ordered thru Amazon warehouse, so they were not too bad in price. But even at full price, these are very high quality.

Bought for kitchen counter. The height is perfect! They are well built and sturdy. They arrived well packaged and fully assembled. The cushions are extremely comfortable. Just be aware of a couple of things: The site description says "modern," and be sure you understand that. They not only have a very modern look, they also are made of the lightest, blondest wood I've ever seen. We have an alder kitchen with nutmeg stain on our hardwood floors, so we lightly sanded them and stained them a couple shades darker. That helped a lot. The other thing is the swivel. The "throw" is only 90 degrees (i.e. you can't turn all the way around in them) and the swivel is quite snug. I'm 114 pounds, female, and I really can't swivel them. Husband is over 200 and he has no trouble. I'm attaching before & after pictures.

These are great for the value. Looking at big furniture stores was like triple the price for these stools. Great for our island. Swivels to each side to get in and out easily.
