My cats have been eating fairly high-quality kibble* for the past 5 years, mostly Solid Gold Let's Stay In (their favorite) and Taste of the Wild Salmon. I saw Kitzy targeted to me when I was browsing Amazon, and I figured it was worth a shot, because if they liked it, I would be saving a few bucks but still giving them high-quality food. My cats are usually free-fed because they tend to eat a few bites and come back to it later rather than wolfing it all down at once. They also do that cute thing where they pantomime covering the food to keep predators away. I started with a tablespoon of Kitzy in each of their dishes before I went to work. When I came home, it was all gone. Over the weekend when I had more time to observe, I was reassured that both cats were eating the Kitzy food, even the ultra-finicky Genevieve. Bottom line, my cats recommend Kitzy and I hope the price point will remain as it is currently. *Lest you worry about the health of my cats, they also eat high-quality wet food, as recommended by their veterinarian. ... show more

    • Better and more economical

This was the least expensive "no grain" cat food that lists its main ingredients as meat...of some kind. My usual "grocery store" cat food has various grains as its main ingredients. While I am a vegetarian cats most certainly are NOT. I slowly integrated this food into Lucy's (my ~10yo cat) food as well as the stray cats' who eat here regularly. While this certainly isn't scientific, Lucy definitely liked the food but ate less often. My guess (I do have a BS in Biology FWIW) is feeding her something closer to what cats should eat-flesh & fat. Her fur SEEMS softer too. There are three stray cats (& yes, I do have them 'fixed' when possible) who regularly eat in my garage. I call the black & white one Sylvester; his fur went from patchy in places to a full clean coat. Now that is probably more due to the fact that he eats *regularly now, I did see/feel improvement in Lucy's coat too. Bitsy is a the cat who has eaten here for ~1.5 years; I have seen her sometimes skip the wet food and eat this dry food. Between the better ingredients (even compared to much more $$ dry food), eating less often to improvements noticed in their coats I have no intention of going back to grain filled dry food.     • Picky cat with sensitive tummy loves!

I have 2 very picky cats; normally what 1 cat likes, the other does not. One cat has a very sensitive stomach and most foods (even the more expensive ones) she does not like and upset her stomach. Both cats love this food and the vomiting is minimal with this food. I has been out of stock recently; I hope they restock soon because I don’t want to search for another cat food. ... show more

Individual pieces, uniform and too small, are swallowed whole. Many are regurgitated still intact. The flavor seems to be 'OK' but not 'great'. Eaten last when placed alongside a more colorful feed with varied piece shapes. Fed to two cats, one senior, sizeable and male and the other is an adult female. Occasionally, given as a treat to a small, senior dog who also swallows them without chewing (subsequent gag-coughing often occurs).     • Cat will actually eat it

This must be delicious because my cat will actually eat it. Since we took him in off the street 3 years ago, he has gradually started to refuse kibble in favor of wet food only. Usually, he will eat a new kibble semi-enthusiastically for 4-5 days, then get bored of it and start meowing at the fridge for something better. However, it seems he may have finally completed his metamorphosis into a fully spoiled house cat because this phase has only lasted a day or two with the last few kibbles we've tried. I got this stuff on a whim because I liked the packaging and it was on sale, but it turned out to be a huge win! We actually finished the entire bag and he is still enjoying it midway through the second one. One thing to be aware of is that it REEKS, especially when you first open the bag... We clipped it shut and it still stunk up the whole pantry. However, the stench is probably part of why my cat likes it, so I can't complain. If you have a picky cat, I would definitely give this food a try! ... show more
