I can't tell you how pleased I am with the Amazon Basics Wooden Bar Stool with Backrest, Black, Set of 2. They are very pretty! I ordered these two chairs for different reasons than most people order them for. One of them is going to serve as a seat for when I am preparing food. I can't stand very long at a time and the stool I had previous to this didn't put me high enough up to make food prep comfortable. The other reason is I had been in the market for a barre for barre or pilates workouts. The assembly of these is seriously easy - as long as you don't lose some of the parts. Be cautious when you open the package. I am not sure where the "plug" things were when I opened the box, but I found them on the floor where I was assembling. Assembly was a hassle and took much longer than expected- about an HOUR instead of 20 mins I anticipated. Some of the fixed PEGS were too large (had to file down) for the pre-drilled holes, making it hard to align and balance the frame while the bars are shifted. I even had to straddle the frame to get everything lined up. Tightening the screws with the Allen wrench took a lot of pressure, leaving my arm feeling like jelly. Lastly, the screws that goes underneath the seat kept stopping at the counterbore, so I had to flip the stools and tap the seat to dislodge them, then use a power tool since the Philips screwdriver wouldn't budge them. The 2 stools arrived well packed, but many of UNFINISHED wood pieces had chipped areas covered in black paint or stain. The stools are way too LOW for my 43" breakfast bar and the seats are narrow. Overall, it's sturdy but made with poor quality wood and overpriced for what it is. ... show more
