Plug and play out of the box, batteries in first of course and four batteries were included. Disconnect the old key board and insert the little dongle, you only need one for both items. And your away as long as you turn the mouse on, switch in on the underside. Well built keyboard the keyboard has a good feel when typing, there a number of keys to operate things like email, sleep mode, calculator and more it’s a great feature. The ergonomic feel is great no hand or wrist strain. I love it if I had ten computers they would all have this keyboard. I’m excepting any free gaming computers to test this out lol. No fancy lights all over the thing, they drive me madder than I am now. Worth the money you won’t be disappointed. And from other reports if it does not work correctly, Amazon are great at sorting out an issues.

While I'm sure it has great power saving features and all, the keyboard doesn't have an on/off switch. (The mouse does.) We're fulltime RVers, so when we relocate to a new area, we put the laptops, monitors and peripherals up on our bed. And turn them off. No option here. Also, be careful unpacking! USUALLY the little bluetooth USB dongle is inside the mouse. Not for this packaging. It's in the box. We tossed the box into the firepit for that night's fire. Fortunately, I was able to go back and grab it before we lit everything.

Initially, the keyboard worked fine and seemed like a great Amazon Basics item. However, after the first few weeks, it started turning off and taking several minutes to restart multiple times a day. Sometimes it would fall asleep while I was actively typing; not just during long pauses. Even with new batteries, the problem persists. Possibly I just got a bad apple out of the bunch, but within 4 months I'm looking for a replacement already.

I purchased two of these 6 months ( June 2023) ago. one for work, one for home. they both worked as they should for a while. My only complaint is not having any lighted buttons. Ex, no idea if num lock or caps lock is activated. at the 6 month mark, one of these have failed. the mouse does phantom trailing and the scroll wheel will jet you to the bottom or top of the page. no in-between. If I go to my order page for this product is says the returns or refund window has passed but I'm eligible for a replacement up to July 2024. when I try to start the process I can only get as far as the self help section, no other options. while clicking around on the more info links, i found a document that states the "amazon basics" brand has a 1 yr warranty. I was getting no help from the AI bot on the chat feature and finally got an option to chat with a real person. After explaining my issue, he ask if I can get a screen shot of the warranty info I found. He wanted me to prove it as if I couldn't produce this document he wasn't going to do anything for me. I showed him and he proceeded with the return. I stated that I hoped for replacement but I would settle for refund. He stated that he could only process a return for credit. He offered a printable UPS label which is what I asked for. However they gave me a QR code that I need to take to a UPS store. I asked why I had to spend my money and time driving across the city to a UPS or whole foods store when UPS comes to my door for pickups twice a day. He changed his approach and said he would give me the refund and I wouldn't have to send anything back. He tried to refund me $25 and said it would automatically show up when I placed an order and that I wouldn't see it on the gift card balance. When I stated that I originally paid $31 for it he apologized and stated he would put the remaining ( difference between $25 and $31) on a amazon gift card. I immediately tried to place an order while I had him on the chat. It only showed $25 as a courtesy credit. No gift card credit yet. He said that typically take 4 hrs but could take 24 hrs. so here I sit and wait. I have screen shots If I need to use them. Amazon, why would you try to cheat your customer on multiple attempts on your own product?

Let me talk about the keyboard first. As other reviews said, the keyboard is the best wireless keyboard I have ever used (price is under 40$). I expect that this cheap wireless keyboard could delay a little bit, but the fact is that it responds much faster than my expectation. The performance is very satisfied. The point is the wireless mouse. Some reviews states that the mouse delays too much, it is small and light. If you plan to purchase a wireless mouse to instead of a cable mouse, forget this one, because this is cheap wireless set. You cannot require a cheap wireless set to perform like a cable set. In my opinion, this mouse maybe worth under 20$, if it does not respond with too much delay, I will accept it because use this wireless mouse on my mini computer which is connected to my TV in the living room. I like this one in my circumstances, if you plan to use it in a different condition, you may need to reconsider it.
