just a quick review.. details I wanted to know even after reading the description and other reviews... this backpack is sturdier that a standard bookbag so it's not exactly lightweight but for my needs I wanted sturdy.. I often use a bag this size for quick grocery runs on my bicycle and a few weeks ago broke a bottle of kimchi.. a mess I never want to deal with ever again! Got this on prime day for $16(!).. grey was 1/2 the cost of the other colours and I'm frugal.. so... - top handle is cushioned and 1" wide, comfortable even when full of groceries - back/largest compartment is as deep as the bag and depending on your use of the bottom "shoe" compartment is very roomy.. it has a laptop/tablet sleeve which does have a soft felt-like side.. be aware if you are carrying a laptop this sleeve does go the entire depth of the bag, a mistake many designs make as if you do drop you will probably hear a crack.. if the sleeve only stopped a few inches short the 1/2" back padding would aide in cushioning - middle compartment is slim, perhaps 16" deep with 2 pen and 2 cellphone sized nylon pockets - front compartment is slim, ~ 12" deep, no pockets - bottom "shoe" compartment was a big selling point for me. As a gym bag a place for shoes, at the beach wet towels, and for my use a small watermelon! The divider between the main compartment and this bottom compartment which allow 75/25% or 25/75% use of the space depending on which you need the most for this price I was not expecting ykk zippers but these seem somewhat sturdy .. the zippers on all 3 top compartments only open halfway down the bag (i actually prefer as things won't spill out if I open too wide).. the main compartment having 2 zippers and the other 2 a single zipper each - additionally there is a sunglass/phone zippered felt lined pocket between the 2nd and third compartment, large enough for even the largest of cellphones - 2 waterbottle pockets, comfortable straps and other pluses make this bag a very versatile pack.. yes, the materials are budget but overall it looks like I will have it for some time. And if I EVER break another bottle of kimchi this pack is make of materials that will wash and dry easily! ... show more

    • Decent backpack but small

This backpack was originally purchased to be a replacement diaper bag, but it just wasn't large enough for the diaper bag organizer insert. I ended up trading my existing AmazonBasics Travel Backpack to be the new diaper bag, and using this backpack as my normal work backpack. Unfortunately, it's still too small. The main compartment stores only my toiletries bag (TSA sized) and my admittedly large lunchbox. There's a padded pocket - not a separate zippered compartment - for a laptop or tablet. Anything up to 15in should fit, but depending on what else is in the main compartment it may be a tight fit. The shoe pocket on the bottom has come in handy for flip flops, but I don't think an adult size pair of sneakers would fit. Also anything you put in there is going to eat in to the main compartment space. The middle compartment, where the organizer is (pen slots, etc) is very narrow so you could fit maybe one small notebook in there. There is a small pocket for keys and stuff that is decently sized; large enough for an iphone 8, small wallet, and keys. Overall, I like the quality and construction of the bag, as well as the styling, but it's just not large enough. I will have to either get a smaller lunchbox or find another backpack before too much longer. ... show more

I usually don’t write reviews, but felt like there are features in this backpack worth the review. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the water bottle holders on each side are deep and easily hold a water bottle without it falling out. Also, there is ample storage in the bottom zippered area for shoes or anything else you’d like to keep separate. There are hidden storage compartments throughout this bag. My color picked it out based on the color and I am thrilled with the functions of it. ... show more

    • Impressive for the price!
Wow i'm pretty impressed! These have bigger pockets then I had thought. The top handle is a gel handle instead of your typical nylon strap. For the price we paid and the over all quality I'm suoer impressed. The zippers all feel like decent quality and the side pockets look like they are actually big enough to fit a water bottle. If we can make it through the school year I'll give it 5 stars. Usually I end up buying several backpacks to make it to the end of the year. ... show more

I love this backpack. I’m not a huge fan of hot pink but at $10 I couldn’t pass it up. This is a very good quality backpack with cushioned shoulder straps. It’s got a lot of pockets, including a hidden one on the bottom. I use it for work and I can fit my laptop, charger, mouse, all my paperwork, books, and toys in it and still have room! I work with kids in social services so space and pockets are important. When I ordered I expected something that would be small and last maybe through the summer. Just adding a quick review to supplement the positive reviews of this backpack. my kid broke her backpack strap on a backpack with a graphic on it. I was going to buy her a jansport but after reading some of the reviews they didn't seem like they had the same kind of quality I had when I was going to school so I decided on this amazon basics backpack. Way more space than the backpack she had before and it seems a lot sturdier. A good deal for the price. I usually go to fakespot for things on amazon and surprisingly this backpack received and "F" rating. I still bought it and can verify it's worth buying considering it comes with a 1 year warranty from amazon. ... show more

I wish they made more of an office/work style backpack with the same side pockets. I just opened the box to see the backpack so I haven't used it yet but for only $26, this backpack is much better than I anticipated it would be. The handle has padding in it, there are lots of different compartments and pockets, even a bottom pocket, which I never see on backpacks. The straps have a little padding, the side mesh pockets are going to come in handy with water bottles and I have no clue what my kid will hang from the hook in the front but I'm sure there will be a hat or keychain of some sort on there soon. Doesn't hold as much as I expected it to. Can hold a laptop, 1 or 2 notebooks, and maybe a textbook in the largest pocket. Middle pocket is good for holding pens and other school supplies. The small pocket in between is handy for smaller items. The front pocket is a decent size. The bottom pocket is good for shoes or miscellaneous items. Overall, the material feels strong and the backpack is sturdy, especially for the price I got it. But if you have a lot of classes in one day, I would recommend looking for a larger backpack. ... show more

    • Awesome backpacks!!!
My second grade girl has the pink and grey one. She loves it and it matches with just about anything she owns. My Kindergarten boy has the blue and grey one and although it is a bit big, he loves how comfortable it is. He has had his all year and there are still no signs of wear. This is my daughter’s third backpack as her first two were not Amazon Basics and both fell apart. Great purchase!! I am thinking they will be using the same backpacks next year! ... show more

This is your typical "school" style backpack. I bought two for my kids to use as a way to store emergency supplies. We live in a high fire risk area and this holds all of the basics if we need to leave quick and head to a hotel for a few nights. There's a neat pocket on the very bottom that holds a small rolled up blanket and has two water bottle pouches on the sides. This is a lot better made than my previous pack, (a different brand). I was forever doing repair work on my last pack. This one has quality zippers and seams. I just wish it had a larger capacity like my old one.

    • Really impressed with this backpack
This backpack is much better quality than my daughter's more expensive Jansport backpack from last year. It is thicker and more sturdy material with more pockets to keep things separated and fit all without having an overly stuffed backpack. Backpack shopping in the stores is so disappointing b/c all are pretty poor quality and more expensive and time consuming to find than just checking out Amazon basics. The only disappointment was that the blue color was out of stock otherwise we would have gotten that one. ... show more

    • Used as a gear bag
My kid uses it as his karate bag, it holds all of his sparring gear and he still has room. I had used a different bag for his older brother but this one is holding up perfectly to my son dropping it, dragging it, beating it up like a practice dummy and stuffing his all crap in it. The zippers are holding up just fine, the straps are super padded. I expect it'll hold up for years at this rate. I found it more than worth the purchase ... show more
