  • Terrific replacement!
Buying a replacement filter from GE is super expensive, and they recommend doing it every 6 months! There are lots of third party options out there, but I always worry about whether it's actually filtering the water and whether it might contain something harmful. Amazon Basics is a great middle ground -- it's far far less expensive than GE and it's a trusted brand. One quick tip -- if your fridge uses the newer XWFE filters, they have a chip that prevents third parties from using them. There are some YouTube videos out there that explain how to take the label from a XWFE and use it on an XWF. I haven't personally tried it and it's at your own risk, but worth checking out. ... show more

  • WARNING: GE Fridges will it accept this filter
GE fridges require filters that have an RFID tag to prevent using a generic filter. Just a heads up, if your filter has RFID, this will not work even though it fits perfectly. Returning and buying a genuine GE Filter.

  • What can I say?
I have a GE refrigerator that needed a new water filter and the manual indicated that this would work as a replacement. It installed fine with no leaking, so that's a plus. Does it really filter as well as an OEM filter from GE? I have no idea. I do know, however, that GE wants $55 a piece for their filters so in comparison this Amazon Basics model is a huge bargain. My water supply company is pretty trustworthy and I use water straight from the tap, so unless I run into issues down the road I will be sticking with Amazon Basics for my fridge filters. ... show more

  • Fits Just Like Other Filters
The media could not be loaded. I have had great Luke with the Amazon Basics brand. This is no different. I removed the old filter and replaced it with this. This one does seem to be a tiny bit shorter than the previous brand I was using. I flushed it for about five minutes and the water tastes great to me. It seems a bit pricy compared to other brands I have found. If I buy in a set of three I can usually get the price lower than this. ... show more

  • Great Value!
Replacements for our GE fridge are soooo expensive. This is a great alternative and I do not taste any difference in the way the water tastes. I will continue to buy these!

  • This Amazon Basics Water Filter for GE/XWF seems just as good as the original, but less expensive.
This Amazon Basics Water Filter for GE/XWF seems just as good as the original, but much less expensive. So I see absolutely no reason to spend more for what is essentially the same thing. We're lucky though, because our GE refrigerator does not have that ridiculous RFID security chip sensor circuit built into it, that later versions of the exact same refrigerator number model do have. Though even if I had one of those later ones, I would still get these filters and use the information available on the internet to bypass that mechanism the manufacturer chose to include in order to get their customers to pay more, over and over again. ... show more
