The grip is very secure and not remotely slippery. I find the width of the grip to be just right but that preference may depend on the size of your hand. I am 5’7” and have fairly long fingers. I like these weights as they are easy to grip even if you are sweaty. They are not quite exactly 10 lbs according to my scale but close enough. The finish on them is rubbery which is nice for wooden floors and for good grip.
