PROs: + Lightweight, good for apartment showers + Easy to install + Does what it needs to CONs: - Cheap materials unsuitable for a home with upgraded fixtures - Instructions are incorrect Another review (by Robert Laughlin on July 17, 2023) reported that the instructions were incorrect for the curtain rod. To confirm what he reported, the instructions I received were not accurate with the product I received. This is not a "compress and tension" rod like it says, which is a bit misleading. This is a standard curtain rod that you rotate to extend into place. There was some give, but nowhere near enough compression to follow the instructions of extending 2" beyond the wall and then compressing into place. The rod I received extends by rotation, so you simply rotate the rods and it will telescope out slowly. Once in place, the rod seems to hold securely thanks to the rubber feet. It was easy enough to install once I figured the instructions were incorrect. The material is very lightweight, but the nickel finish is nice and suits the rest of my bathroom fixtures. The shower curtain glides easily along the bar which is a big improvement over the rod it replaced, which would annoyingly catch the curtain rings as they slid. For an apartment shower, this should be just fine. But if you have nicer furnishings or a house with superior build quality, you will want to look elsewhere. This is a very middle-of-the-line curtain rod.

I am very pleased with this rod. I needed something strong to handle the double thick material I used to make the kitchen curtain (the sun really heats up the kitchen uncomfortably). The rod is made of a strong metal material. While some people used not to hand shower curtains, it was made strong enough to handle the heavy material I used for the kitchen curtain, so I feel it is a very versatile rod. There was no mounting hardware and the instructions were easy to follow. I do feel their recommendation of extending the rod 1-2 inches longer before pushing one end of the rod up into position was excessive. I did not need even 1 inch. It was easy to adjust the length. The rubber on either end of the rod formed a strong adhesion to keep the rod in place. I’m pleased with the end result.

We use a lot of these. The master shower has one that we have double hooks sliding on to hang the heavy duty plastic inside and the fabric outside. Same one in the main bathroom. Also use on the closets to hang linen-looking curtains to hide the clothes/shoes inside - we HATE closet doors. One thing to remember, though -- if you just hang these rods up no matter how tight you get them eventually they come down. Do yourself a favor and buy the end pieces that you slip the rod in for clothes hangers in the closet. Put those up first and THEN put the extension rod in each end and tighten down as usual. No more rods coming down...we've done this lots and it works! Super easy to take down again, too, if you want to make a change.

This just works. Annoyingly, I’ve tried a bunch of rods, and they all stink. The trick, I’ve learned, is to get this type of rod, where it’s a twisty one vs the one you have to put together and do a bunch of math. The other trick is to make sure it’s got ample room to extend— so instead of getting one that 55 inches long for a 54 inch space, get it w like 10 - 15 extra inches so it’s strong enough to hold your curtain. Anyway, this is perfect! Very happy.
