  • Supports 60W charging; buy the shortest cable you can!
Size: 1 Feet Style: USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 Fast Color: Red
I bought the 1-foot version of this cable specifically because it was noted to allow 3A (60W) charging and support up to 10Gbps connectivity. This has become my go-to cable for phone swaps/migrations. I measured the resistance of the cable relative to the USB standards (for more information see the medium page from Benson Leung titled "What does it mean when a USB-C™ cable is rated at 3A?"). According to the specification, the wire resistance limit for supporting 3A/60W would be 0.166Ω for the voltage carrying line (Vbus/Vcc) and 0.0833Ω for the ground line. Fortunately the measured resistances of this cable are both well below the limits documented above: 0.158Ω for the voltage carrying line (Vbus/Vcc) and 0.06Ω for the ground line. Achieving such values are easier for shorter cables, but shouldn't be taken for granted as I have plenty of cables from reputable brands (some of which were USB-IF listed) which still failed to meet the spec. This is noteworthy because I later I bought the 10-foot version of this cable based upon my good experience with the 1-foot version of the same AmazonBasics cable . While I'll focus on the positives for this long cable first, read to the end if you're specifically shopping for a 10-foot 3A / 60W capable USB-C cable. One high point is the USB-C connector. Both cables feature an extruded design unlike the stamped and folded connectors that are common in, for example, the free cable included with my most recent Samsung phone (my Pixel 6 and iPhone 12, in contrast, both included cables with the more premium extruded USB-C connector). Continuing on the premium elements in this cable's favor, the strain relief on the connector is a nice design and the cable itself is both smooth and flexible. I'd contrast this cable's flexibility with a less expensive and simpler 10-foot AmazonBasics cable which probably suffers by comparison in part due to the way they're packed/shipped. The more premium cable is shipped in a larger, loose coil, whereas the cheaper cable was shipped in a box a third the size resulting in a cable that still has many of the kinks reflective of the time spent tightly wound inside the shipping box. There was disappointment, but no real surprise for a cable of this length, once I measured the resistance of the cable relative to the USB standards (once again, for more information see the medium page from Benson Leung titled "What does it mean when a USB-C™ cable is rated at 3A?"). According to the specification, the wire resistance limit for supporting 3A/60W would be 0.166Ω for the voltage carrying line (Vbus/Vcc) and 0.0833Ω for the ground line. The cable does *allow* 3A (60W) charging, however... The value I measured for the 10 foot cable's ground line was under the 0.0833Ω limit, being 0.061Ω (lower is better). Unfortunately, the value I measured for this cable's voltage carrying line was over the 0.166Ω limit at 0.230Ω. This would suggest that optimally (to keep the amount of voltage drop over the cable within the spec) this cable should be carrying no more than about 2.2A of current. That would make this cable optimal for something like a 45W load, but technically out of spec for a 60W load. The end result for any users connecting a 60W load would likely be slowed charging at maximum load. Achieving such values are easier for shorter cables, but I also have a USB-IF listed 8 foot cable purchased at a big box store which also manages to be well within the 3A spec. That the 10-foot cable failed to reach the 3A/60W spec was disappointing but perhaps not surprising when you take length and price into consideration. The 10-foot version of the cable is functional but its use should be limited to devices with lower (<=45W) power demands. I measured the resistance values using a USB-C breakout to facilitate separate measurement of the ground and voltage lines. However, the issue I'm describing is visible using simple meters like the ones I've attached in the pictures. A cable that is in spec for 3A/60W power delivery should cause no more than 0.50V drop (i.e. - 500 mV) across the cable. At 1.65A the 1-foot cable is causing a mere 0.20V drop, suggesting that at 3A the voltage drop would still be well under 0.50V (at around 0.36V using V=IR to solve for the value of R with the initial measurements, then substituting in the value of R determined for the cable and 3 for the value of I). A similarly small drop is experienced over my big box store's 8-foot cable (the black cable in the photos), suggesting it is also within spec for a 3A cable. However, notice that for the silver 10-foot cable the voltage drop at a similar 1.67A is almost 0.32V. That would estimate the voltage drop for a 3A load well over the 0.50V limit at around 0.57V. That voltage drop is basically power that would never make it to your charging device. ... show more

  • Wow!
Size: 10 Feet Style: USB-C 2.0 Fast Charging, 3A Color: Dark Grey
It does the job as any other cable probably does. However, this cable has some heft behind it. It just feels leaps and bounds better than even the original cable that came with my phone.

Fast charger is an understatement. From 30%-100% it only takes like 20 minutes. Fastest charger I've owned.

  • 5-Stars BUT.....
Size: 10 Feet Style: USB-C 2.0 Fast Charging, 3A Color: Dark Grey
I'm rating this cable as a 5-star with one caveat. The pluses >>> 5-stars for how quickly it charges our devices!!! Love that. The connectors are very sturdy and look like they will last a good long time. Totally happy with the overall quality. My one issue is that this is a "Mr. Cable"!!! It's really unwieldy. Our 9 foot cable from same vendor (purchased 2020 or thereabouts) is very flexible. This 10-footer, not so much. Not sure if they beefed up all their cables or if the longer length affects how robust the casing needs to be but this one is pretty stiff. NOT a reason to return and not a complaint exactly, just wish it had the softer, more flexible "personality" of the 9-footer. ... show more

  • Great, high quality cable. Really large and long connector boot may cause problems for some.
I bought this cable looking for a good, high quality build, USB-C cable to use for charging my Pixel 2 XL and my girlfriends first gen Pixel on long road trips with my Aukey car charger. I had been using RAVPower cables for a bit and while they worked pretty good for charging, they were a bit too long for long term use in a vehicle without using a cable tie or something similar to bunch up the excess cable. I found that I was going through them a bit too quickly for my liking (About 5 or so in the last 2 years) and decided to look for one that was maybe a bit shorter, better build quality, or both. Since the price was pretty good and I would mostly be using the cable for charging and not transferring data, I decided to try the AmazonBasics USB Type-C to USB Type-C 2.0 Cable to see how they fared, and while it was a nice cable for the cost, one of the issues that immediately stood out was the material the cable was made from. I live in Minnesota and for about 4 months or so of the year the temperatures can be downright frigid. While I never had any issues with the RAVPower cables, the regular USB 2.0 USB-C AmazonBasics cord was super rigid when it was cold. In fact it was so rigid, I was worried that bending it might cause some excess stress on it and possibly cause a short or break off a connector accidentally if there were any unintended sudden movements or too much side pressure applied. I decided to look for a high quality cable and saw these, the AmazonBasics Double Braided Nylon USB Type-C to Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable. While the cost was a little more than double over the other AmazonBasics cable, I decided it was worth the cost difference to try since it was USB 3.1 spec for data transfer speeds. The cable build quality is amazing. Compared to the RAVPower and other AmazonBasics USB-C cables, its a totally different beast. Its like comparing a Dodge Neon to a BMW M5. Not only is the build quality on a different plane of existence, the speeds are too. However, I will say that there may be a drawback to these cables for some people as the connector sheath/boots on this cable are HUGE. I dont have the cable here while I write this review, but I can say that the ends of the cable and the boots are more than double the length of any other USB-C cable I have seen. While I'm sure that helps for physical protection (and maybe shielding), it is heavier on the ends of the cable so depending on usage, it might put more stress on your connectors than you were expecting, or they may simply be too long if trying to use it to connect to something with very little space between the connector and an obstruction like a wall or mount, etc. Just keep that in mind when purchasing. If I can I will edit this review in the future with photos and measurements for comparison. ... show more

  • Oem is better
Way to hard/stiff cable. Unrealistic stiff, overbuilt cable that I’m sure is unnecessary that I’m sure is just cheap china material. Doesn’t charge nearly as good as oem.

  • Loosey Goosey
Size: 10 Feet Style: USB-C 2.0 Fast Charging, 3A Color: Silver
I have had good luck with Amazon Basic cords in past. This is my first USB C cord. I found the connector to be loose when plugged into Apple device. The slightest move and it falls out. Not dependable for charging. Both ends do the same thing. Not a case issue. Disappointed. Returning. The cord itself seems like the same good quality as past cords. Wear well. That’s why I gave 3 stars instead of 1 star. ... show more
