I have an IKEA day bed that converts from a Twin to a King size bed in our guest room. I bought two Twin 4 inch foam mattresses because the bed is designed for the mattresses to stack while not in the King orientation. If you only need to sleep one person, the bed is pretty comfortable with the two 4 inch memory foam mattresses on top of each other, but you sink in a lot. When you have it set up to be a King, you eventually sink and squish the memory foam down to the point you can feel the bed frame, so it’s not super comfortable. Then I read about these latex alternative toppers... I purchased two 2 inch Twin toppers to be used in addition to the 4 inch memory foam mattresses for when we convert the day bed to a King and when I first unpackaged these I was pretty skeptical. Despite things saying these were more firm than memory foam they didn’t really seam like it when I squeezed it with my hand. However after letting it expand for a day or so on the floor I laid down on it and the 2 inch latex alternative topper offered way more support than the 4 inch memory foam and I couldn’t really feel the floor through the two inches. These toppers solved the sinking problem and completely transformed the sleeping experience on that guest bed. Highly recommend.

Alternative Latex foam: This is firm only in comparison to memory foam. A good way to think of it is 50% firmer than memory foam, but 50% less firm than "standard" foam. Has a bit more bounce back (resilience) than memory foam. The packing slip rates it at 20 ILD (google it) with a 2.5 lb/ft3 density. My gut tells me it will last two years max, so I don't advise buying it as a more permanent solution. It is decent as a transitional layer on top of a firm base, such as springs. It will not stiffen up a soft mattress. Bottom line: buy it to soften a firm mattress as an alternative to memory foam.

Earlier last year I bought an expensive new mattress and I absolutely hated it once it arrived in my home. It was supposed to be a plush pillowtop mattress but it is very hard and has never broken in. I *could* have returned it to the store within the guarantee period however, I was going to have to pay a few hundred dollars in fees and be without a mattress. I'm active, in good shape and am a side sleeper and would wake up with terrible hip pains in the night and have trouble sleeping. After looking at many memory foam mattress toppers I decided on this one because the price was reasonable than others and honestly, this seemed to get better reviews than the more expensive toppers. I let it "puff up" for two nights, but I actually don't think it was needed because it seemed to open up to full size out of the box. Granted I've only slept on this for one night, but it was so wonderful not waking up multiple times and trying to get back to sleep with hip pain. I didn't notice sleeping "hot" and with two cats snuggled up with me, if I was going to overheat I would have. If you're experiencing joint pain or just want a more comfy mattress, definitely give this a try. My two cats approve of it too. LOL

This is very comfortable. I don’t overheat or over cool when climbing into bed. This makes a regular old mattress very comfortable and luxurious. However, when trying to position this on the bed, do not just pull on it as this mattress pad does not have wonderful tensile strength and It will tear easily as it is heavy. I should-have placed a bedsheet down first and then the mattress pad. Because then I could use the old bed sheet to pull on for positioning the pad correctly on my bed.

Occasionally, after about a month of use, I get a whiff of chemical smell but for the most part it's gone and it is very nice and soft. My aging mattress was bothering my back so this helps add cushioning.

I can't tell you how long I've searched for a solid foam topper that is not memory foam. This is it! I was worried because I sleep hot. This topper does not make me hot. I bought this recently in July 2022. It came with chemical smell, that I read about others mentioning in the reviews. It did not smell terrible to me, but it smelled. I let it sit for 48 hours in a spacious living room before putting up in my room. Still smelled after that. Having put a blanket to cover it. The smell did go away. However, it did not go away if you put your head off your pillow and your nose falls on the mattress. You will still smell that smell. And this is now still in December of 2022 as I am putting this review. I may just put it in the living room again or outside if that does not take the smell away. I have been using it. It's a nice spongy, cushiony feel, hugs your body. I purchased it since my zinus green tea memory foam mattress was a bit on the stiff side, and I could only sleep on it if I am really tired. That fixed my problem.
